  1. Love it Jay! I love finding sci-fi gems in the weird off-titles like this. Here's another.
  2. 1) Cardboard probably wouldn't have helped there, maybe even made it worse. 2) Heritage is great about returns.
  3. Agree with 7.5-8.0, the difference being how flat it is as that's what CGC seems to go by with books like this.
  4. I think collectors are genuinely interested in having the designation on labels and prices paid support that. But they are neither increasing nor decreasing in rarity. They should have said "Because of increasing collector demand."
  5. Kirby was great for SA superhero books. His style was perfect for the time and his audience and really established a way for comics to be viewed, both by those reading them and those on the outside. But you can make great comics with accuracy as well. Russ Heath & Joe Kubert had very contrasting styles, but both made great comics. Murphy Anderson, Neal Adams, etc. could be dynamic, exciting, and accurate. There is room for both.
  6. Agreed, but his premise was that comic art used to be more realistic. Kirby in his peak years was anything but realistic.
  7. The real message here is that the 2021 prices for SA Marvels weren't reality. That Clink sale is still $1500 or so above the average for 2018-2020, which for anyone in the buy and hold realm is progress. I was buying SA Marvels from 2017-20, then when prices instantly tripled it was obvious to me that the right move was to sell.
  8. The black in Batman's cape is also pretty spotty, so it could be a printing error. But it's strange that it's so focal, and that the black adjacent to it in the logo is intact.
  9. It's not exactly legal, there are some stipulations. But the situation here is 1) not in Texas, and 2) not as clear cut because you have a separate business entity bidding. The question of legality is more likely, is it legal for metropolis to get the other bidders' max bids from comicconnect and use that information.
  10. I tried to link to the page (133) that it starts on, but I guess the link goes to the first page. I think this will work better.
  11. Here's the full discussion about metropolis reportedly shilling comicconnect's items.
  12. I think you answered your question about legality in your previous post. Metropolis and Comicconnect are two separate entities, so metro can bid on CC. This explains why Jim Halperin used to have his other website, *something* gallery -- I don't remember.
  13. Maybe the it's one of the buyer's favorite books, but when it was auctioned in 2019 he didn't have the cash on hand and has kicked himself ever since for not just making it happen and also for not buying the Church copy when Metropolis had it for sale 17 years ago. Maybe.
