Anyone who has a sweet display like that doesn't collect green labels. Look at the similarity. He's clearly an OCD collector. Probably even sent in gen 1 and 2 slabs to get them all reholdered.
-
I think the guy in the background is safe in all honesty. All the other heads have long hair, and the ghoul is clearly a collector. His OCD would never let him boil a head that he couldn't hang by the hair next to his other ones.

Strange Tales 97 CPR Results are, well, Strange!
buttock replied to WOLVERINE335's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Those are deep creases and although they look better, they're still visible. Those are the main determinants of the grade both before and after. I'm sure a lot of other wear improved, but when you hold that book outside the slab all that creasing is still there, only flat. When you choose a book to press, you have to assess whether removing the pressable defects will change the grade. In this case, it won't. -
Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???

Here's one I got where one side of the inner well wasn't sealed. Thankfully the book survived unscathed. -

No. I sold it years ago. It should be in the HA archive. -

Is that black bleedthrough under the tape at the bottom edge? -
As I said, I don't know when this rule was changed, but I think you can put a direct link to that change and this scandal. It's absolutely unacceptable. I recognize that it will still happen, people can just use a proxy in all aspects. But CGC needs to have a strict rule on hand to maintain some sense of propriety.
-
It was a policy from the beginning. I'm not sure when it changed, but the expected outcome happened.
-
Collecting comics doesn't inherently involve CGC, although it's a big part of the modern way. But a much greater problem is the impropriety that it invites by allowing them to work with a huge conflict of interest. Once that door is cracked open, you're just asking for something like this to happen.
-
I'm not surprised to see something like this happen, any business is vulnerable to people trying to pull a scam one way or another. HOWEVER, that's why you put safeguards in place. And the biggest safeguard CGC had was a strict policy on employees not being able to deal in CGC graded books at all. Once they opened that door, and I'm not sure when that was, they essentially invited someone to come do something like this. If there is anything I would want to see come out of this, it's that CGC employees are unable to buy, sell, or submit to CGC with no exceptions.

It will be an interesting assessment of the post-pandemic changes to the market. SA tanked, but lower GA has held steady. Higher-end GA has dipped, but this is a bit of a unicorn. I would expect it to still perform well. -
What’s your preference. Okajima or Denver Pedigree ?

I don't think I've seen or heard of another pedigree copy of this issue. It has to be among the toughest Atlas books. -

Greg, grab a bottle of Hidden Barn series 1 or 2 next time you're out. It's only available in KY and CO and it's top notch. -
