If I decide to try to work on it I’ll post results but I’m still very happy considering how I got it! Thanks so much for your time .

Yes this is dry-cleaned/pressed already. It’s as good as it’s gonna get without doing like a heat overlay press or some whitening, which I’m just starting to get into. So, if you can let me know where you think it’s now, that would be great!

Yow! I would be over the moon to get a 6.5 on this book! Thanks for the heads up on CCS. Researching them and hearing these kind of stories led me to start learning to do my own pressing. Here’s how Jean Grey came to me in the collection i bought! I probably pressed this book earlier than i should have attempted a spine roll repair, but the staple is intact so I guess I still came out ahead ;-) https://imgur.com/a/k4Qvt2T

It’s just loose

Hi, An overall nice copy with a detached centerfold. What does the board think? More pics attached. Thanks for your time!

The seller originally had it as an 8.0. It sat, I think because of the staples, for a while and I got it for an offer based on valuation as a 6.0. I think I was able to take that risk because I had previously bought books from this lot and so could interpret the photos differently and knew their books were generally very solid and definitely unpressed/treated (they’d been in a box for 40+ years). and yes I feel very lucky, thanks!

Thank you! Yes, agreed, but I (and I hope this is ok to say on this board) feel that way in general. I feel like right now the only books I would slab would have to be above 9.4 or below 2.0 (in one case bc I fear it could lose grade in my care, in the other bc I fear it might fall apart).

Hi all, thank you I will post more pics when I am home tonight/tomorrow!

Hi, I love this copy of #52 regardless, but am wondering if the staples affect grade (I’ve heard different things). The book has not been pressed or anything and the staple push definitely seems like a printing thing. thanks!
-
So I know the provenance of the book and that it's never been pressed. I'll dbl check in person, but I believe I noticed the color difference there but chalked it up to something during printing. It might also be emphasized by lighting. I didn't think it would affect grade.

Really wondering what effect binder holes have, as I’ve inherited a bunch of low/mid grade SA books with binder holes. Thanks as always!

Ah yes i see the color rub on the spine of the of the back cover. I didn’t notice any color lift on the FC, so maybe it’s the photo? Where did you think you noticed it? Thank you for the eagle eye!

Already on it! I'll report back when I hear

So that's where I'm stuck. Here are the interiors to another FF book in the collection (I haven't gotten interiors for #49 but let's assume similar). I can't see any interior damage, and so I'm trying to figure out if it's improvable with pressing and how it would affect overall grade. If you can look at these photos and let me know your thought, I would greatly appreciate it!

I do and will! Thanks! A friend asked me about it the other day. Literally if I was told it was worthless bc of the cover offset or whatever I would have no regrets. I've never had a book that felt so special when you hold it in your hand
-
I take it to be a misprint. You can see the white at the bottom where it was offset. I’m pretty confident in the provenance of this book, but I also think from the bottom you can see it was not trimmed. thanks for your input!

Thanks again! So happy to share this one, it has a real aura of history

PGM Cerebus The Aardvark #1
Corvonie replied to Corvonie's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Thank you! -
Let’s set the table that I know the provenance of the book, so just grade it!
