So, Why Has AF #15 Continued to Drop In Value?
Spiderturtle replied to KEY ISSUES Comics's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
I respect the dealers in that they have to put in the risk $10k-$50k to get the 3-5% profit margin. Honest assessment because weekend warriors can go to to eBay or the auction houses. So the margin is set/capped at approximately 10 percent give or take. For a sure thing I sell to dealers on high end books. -

So, Why Has AF #15 Continued to Drop In Value?
Spiderturtle replied to KEY ISSUES Comics's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Just don’t expect to flip it in a year. Hold and enjoy and if when it does go up then revisit. If it doesn’t then hopefully it isn’t a big loss. Pretty simple really -
So, Why Has AF #15 Continued to Drop In Value?
Spiderturtle replied to KEY ISSUES Comics's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Af15s have been good to me. Net effect is in the positive margin for me. buy low, sell high. That being said, everyone come over to the smurfs club spirou 1071. It’s a silver age book thats still low. One can apply the buy low theory still. Smurfs a big pop culture phenomenon similar to spidey but of course on a lower scale -
1st Smurfs 1958 (yes 1958) Spirou 1071/1072 Club
Spiderturtle replied to Spiderturtle's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
CGC has now started separating the Spirou 1071 either as Belgian or French edition. I guess the first 24 graded were not classified therefore their clumped into 24 graded without specifying if they are the French or Belgian edition -

Holy Bat Pages up for auction !!!
Spiderturtle replied to Chicago Boy's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I won the action 1 pages from heritage a few years ago. Had them graded separately. The pages were brittle so I WAS SWEATING BULLETS separating the staples from the pages and bagging and boarding them to send to CGC. The pages had already separated so the staples were not original. Eventually sold all 7 pages of the super man pages. I even offered it here on the boards, on the Sales forum. no interest at all initially. Page 5 seemed to be the most popular. Didn't realize that page 1 had the capability of beating page 5. The moral of the lesson is ask for the Moon and you might get it. Theres not that many action 1s available. I guess its really in the eye of the beholder on which page is more/less desireable -

To any of the board members out there. When I think of cartoons and comics, I think of scooby doo 1 from 1971 and spirou 1071. Got tmnt 1 but that’s a different crowd I believe. Any other books that come to mind? -

So Which SA Mega Key Will Surge This Year?
Spiderturtle replied to Jaydogrules's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
It sure affects my max bid. 10 percent less for me on whichever venue that charges sales tax. -
I could definitely see an increase in price since the last recorded sales were more than 1 year ago. I've been buying and selling TMNT 1 in the 7-9.0 range for the last 10 years. I never paid attention to the Turtlemania gold; It didn't affect my demand for the book.

what's the mindset of collector's that chase top of the census major/minor keys/grails. What if you obtain the top census copy at top dollar but eventually another top census comes out. do you want to chase the new top guy? Or are you okay with your copy cause you had already spent top dollar. This assumes that you're copy is #2 with no other #2 available(1 and only copy). Also assuming that you have the funds available to purchase this new top census (1 and only copy on the census) 1. Try to get the top census and keep your undercopy? 2. Get the top guy and then sell the undercopy 3. Happy that you are least a silver medal and it's close enough to the gold medal
