  1. A little off topic, but I’ve been drawn to spirou 1071 (1st smurfs) 1958. A minor key but I think it should climb the ladder. Can still get it for pennies on the dollar vs the mega key. Can’t afford $5k? Why not just spend $50-100 and you’ll get yourself a 1st Smurf’s appearance from 1958. Growth potential much higher than any mega key (my opinion of course)
  2. Just won some spirou 1071 and 1072 on eBay and the seller didn’t mention that they were missing the value stamp on the back of the cover. Never thought much of it until I checked for completeness. Also some copies have the value stamp while others don’t. These are the French version. I’ll look at them closer tonight to compare the different copies that I have(French vs Belgium; value stamp vs no value stamp)
  3. I didn't make the request but I did notice the change in my submission form from French to Belgian/French about 2 weeks ago. maybe cgc changed the classification after reading this thread
  4. Unless you did the walkthrough service, you have plenty of time for customer service to notify the graders or quality control before it gets finalized. Even with the walk through service, they were able to accomadate my request before book was mailed out
  5. No mc, nice gray background, deep colors. Nice!
  6. The rules changes when it’s graded by pgx. Built in huge discount accounting for uncertainty. There’s already a built in discount when graded cbcs, look at that price for the 8.0. The sky could be falling but there’s no way it go for that if graded by cgc. Remember that cbcs 8.5 sold by heritage that later got the same grade with cgc. Quick flip huge profit. Roulette
  7. when buying pgx books, I've seen listing stating grades are the opinions of the grading company. Just think of the migraine related to returns of pgx books after being regraded by cgc (blue pgx 9.0 becomes cgc restored 8.5 )
  8. If you had a choice between the 2 and the grades were similar(original grade before restoration), which one would you prefer: Major key/grail qualified married vs restored trimmed (all original parts)
  9. be interested in the price difference between the conserved 4.0 on comiclink vs the qualified 1.5 on comicconnect; similar books
  10. be interested in what other board members think about this topic, since i'm of the opinion that the book is in the slab and is protected from further handling. I could see the conservation in this case helping out if someone wanted to keep the book raw and read
  11. Will the Batman 1 conserved 4.0 get a higher hammer in its current state or in its original if it had remained in a qualified 1.0(or whatever grade it was originally)
  12. They will mention 1st Smurf’s for the 1071 and 1st smurfs cover. They don’t distinguish between French and Belgium versions though. Might want to email cgc directly about the Robbedoes; not sure if that’s ever been graded
  13. I submitted some myself but more on the low to mid grade copies. Six 1071 and four 1072. Will be getting grades some time next week
  14. When it comes to this point business; is there formula for nice eye appeal 0.5-1.0. I know people pay a premium for an entry level copy so such price per point doesn’t apply to 0.5-1.0. Does the formula start at 1.5 and ends at ? Too many variables to consider. Would work better for Bronze Age books
  15. Low grade with deep vibrant colors -bargain and greater sastifaction in the purchase. Higher grade with dull colors still fetches a premium but I tend to try figure a way to resell such asap. a lot of time its hard to tell from scans; this applies to all 3 auction houses from my experience
  16. no sorry, this is the actual aquaman
  17. I do agree that cap 1 is superior to as8 or Bats 1. most would probably laugh at me for saying that as8 should be superior to bat 1 (it'll never happen since as8 doesn't even have wonder woman on it), reasoning is that wonder woman is cooler than the joker
  18. Cap 1 vs as8 is a better comparison than cap 1 vs bat 1 bat 1 vs Superman 1 is also better than comparing cap 1 vs bat 1
  19. I have both versions of Spirou 1071 and 1072 slabbed-Belgian and French edition but cgc does not note it in their label. Eventually they should since supposedly the Belgian version is more rare. the good thing is that its pretty obvious which version it is when looking at the cover
  20. looks like usa comic dealers are catching on to Spirou 1071/1072. I see 2 listings by well known usa dealers(at least well known to me) listed on ebay.
  21. For the 70s, it’s ABBA for me. Unfortunately they aren’t that big in the USA. Reading some bronze comics and listening to ABBA Coming out with some new material this year.
