Awesome! Wolverine would have made a great Joe!
-
Just picked this up at Capital City CC: Larry Hama and Josh Blaylock
Awesome! I had someone working on getting me 2 sketches from Hama but no word from him yet on whether he was successful...
He did a wolverine for me as well...super easy to work with! Hope yours come through!
Just heard from him - no look on the sketches, Hama had plenty ahead of me I guess
But I did get several books signed by him for my collection - I hope they all come back CGC 9.8SS!
When you get a chance lets see the Wolverine sketch!

I enjoy them - they are well put together and I will really enjoy them once Volume 5 and up that have the Special Missions added in their proper reading order.
They have all the added short stories, all the art/colors have been enhanced, and the book itself is larger than the original comic book.
And they have a sharp appearance sitting on my shelve!

At the tail end of the con I grabbed this blank for $4! I decided to ask Joe Benetiz for a Cobra Saboteur sketch. Awesome!!!

Pulled a "McFarlane" Special #1 out of a box at the Denver Comic Con.
It's in amazing condition. A real beauty.
A couple tables down, a guy had a marginal copy for $125.
To my surprise, my copy cost me a whopping 50 cents. Ooops.
If anyone's interested, I can post a scan some time.

SCORE!!!! Nice!

Just in case no one has said this lately... THANKS FOR THIS LIST DOUG!!!!
Always a great reference!!!

Chuck, what do you do? I'd like to say I work with naked women 5 nights a week, but my wife doesn't put out that often anymore.
I run a Gentlemen's club.
So really, the argument I'm making is just the necessity of it. I'd make the same arguement if they'd have felt the need to show Mystique's naked butt. I mean, I'd be more in favor of it. But I could still argue it wasn't necessary in any way to the story.
That's it! Convention at Mr. Gower's place!!!!

Oh the GI Joe 2nd print mysteries...
So over the last couple of months I've been purchasing several GI Joe lot collections (I have several OCD projects I'm working on: upgrading the conditions of my raw copies, attempting to get all the variants such as the newsstand/direct sales copies, Canadian price variants copies, 2nd prints, etc)
I took some time today to do some sifting thru them, doing some separating, examining, etc. During my fun I ran across something different that I did not know.
So this is Issue 36, direct edition:
This is Issue 36, 2nd print (also direct edition) - note the difference in the price box: Clearly marked SECOND PRINT on the splash page
This is Issue 36, also 2nd print - again note the price box: Also clearly marked SECOND PRINT on the splash page.
That's right 2 different versions of Issue 36, 2nd print. Always something new to discover!!!

Appropriately for a Twilight Zone book, this is LITERALLY from the future! (check the signing date!)
Lone copy on census. Thanks dscott!!!!!
Couldn't have happened on a better book!

Loved it!!!
It took a LOT of talking to get the wife to go but she loved it as well!

The thing with the DOFP 141 book though is that the cover is iconic. It is like GI Joe 21 where it is a book that other artists often pay homage to. I could easily see 141 maintaining part of the surge in value that it has enjoyed these last few months even after the hype has died down.
BTW... I love these two...
WOW - Has every title paid homage to 141??? These would be fun collect - anyone have a master list of these?

That is very nice!!!

Saw the movie last night.
I enjoyed it very much.
Gwen and Peter you could actually feel the relationship growing, and ASM #121 was in full effect especially if you freeze frame and see the clock time on blu ray when it comes out.
Is this the best comic book movie of all time? Well no, but it certainly wasn't a turd.
Very nice special effects, and the C level villains did just enough to not be over done like they were in Spider-man 3.
Garfield again proves why he outclasses Tobey in every which way as PP/Spider-man.
Excited for the Sinister 6, and more of Ultimate Spider-man style Spidey (so sorry for you old heads that want Ditko/Romita Spidey)
Totally agree - me and the wife enjoyed it! It was no Winter Soldier but worth buying the ticket.
Our theater had applause at the end; hadn't heard that for any movie in quite a while.

Yeah the majority of those had that sticker, those without are rare to non-existent. I'll try to keep my eye for you.

I'm trying to find a raw blank sketch cover for Hama #200. LCS didn't order me one and now I can't find it anywhere. The retailer incentive B cover, not the Yesteryear cover.
I'm also trying to fill a few gaps in my collection. If this is the wrong place for this, I apologize. These just never seem to come up on ebay:
Cobra II #1 2nd print
GI Joe vs Cobra #3 2010 con edition
GI Joe #3 (Civil War) RIB
Hearts and Minds Barnes and Noble #1 and #3
Danger Girl/GI Joe #1 RIB J. Scott Campbell unique sketch cover
Marvel Special Missions #1 Zeck sketch
I'm not a CGC guy, but I am a raw book GI Joe completist. Missing this many comics sometimes keeps me up at night. Thanks for any help!
Look what's on E-Bay!!!

I enjoy Hama's sketches. I've managed to pick up about 6 or 8 or the original sketches used for the IDW's ARAH retail incentive covers.
I'd still love to meet Mr. Hama in the future sometime.

Went and saw this today - I think it is the best Marvel movie to date!
I am very eager to go see it again!!! (thumbs u (thumbs u
