  1. I was here to give the Ann Nocenti shout out. I remember seeing her name so often when I started reading Marvel comics, in editorials and as the writer of Daredevil. Then she seemed to disappear. Haven't reread that stuff since I was a kid, but it made an impression.
  2. Back troubles are a , hang in there Joe!
  3. The leiderhosen, the spats, he sometimes wears a little hat as well, right? Pretty sure Super Duck plays baritone sax in a ska band.
  4. I sold all of my Star Wars Lego stuff last year (and the rest of the Lego stuff a few months ago) so I am telling myself I am going to be strong and not get these. But man...they're cool.
  5. I haven't seen them in hand yet (though they are apparently popping up at Targets and Walmarts as we speak) but so far I'm not a fan based on the pics. For one, he went with the 7" scale, which I guess puts them in line with his normal figure lines, and maybe with DC Essentials, but they won't work with the Mattel DCUC and Multiverse figs. So, that's a bummer, as that's the scale I collect. Also not a fan of his articulation and the way it's cut into the sculpts. But again, this is just from pics, I can't pass full judgment until I pick a couple up. I'll at least give them a shot and buy one or two. The Superman figure looks like the best of the bunch, the Batman looks ok, the Animated figs look weird, the Harley looks terrible. From the pics I'd say the Hell Bat Armor is the real star, which make sense, as that sort of sculpting is right in Toddy's wheelhouse. So, it may not be a total loss. Trying to remain open-minded in tandem with being unimpressed with what has shown up thus far. I hate to embrace a new scale, but we'll see how it goes. If he keeps the character selection diverse, I may be on board. A lot of the disappointed folks are saying they'll pick them up on clearance. I don't see that happening. McFarlane has a big following and this is McFarlane doing DC. These things are going to sell quickly, at least early on.
  6. Not sure where else to post these, so I'll do it here. @ADAMANTIUM here's my b-day haul from the Missus, and it was surprisingly awesome! We usually keep birthdays very low key, but she surprised me with these gorgeous, enormous 36x24,limited to 250 hand signed and numbered screen printed posters from Mondo! The colors are gorgeous. These sold out months ago, I'd actually forgotten all about them. And the BIG surprise is that she said we could hang them in the main hall of the house! This is big news, as most of my stuff has to "live" in the man cave. (pics are from Mondo's site, except for the last one. These suckers are thick and heavy, I'm not going to take them out of the tube again until they go to the framer.) She also got me this Thanos helicopter, which is charging up as we speak!
  7. Ah, the satisfaction of crossing stuff off of a list. Even though I do it digitally these days (an Excel sheet for some, an iPad note for others) it always feels great. Congrats on your progress!
  8. Man, I love all of those terrible Cannon Films flicks from the 80's, and all of that cheesy JCVD goodness. I would be all over this if I ever ran across it.
  9. Throw in Primer 2 and I'll officially own one of these books! Otherwise, eh. I had a TMNT 3rd print once, and have passed on a CF Cerebus 1 a couple of times. They're all books I like, but I just can't make myself spend the money on them. As much as I loved Cerebus as a young man, I just don't see how it maintains that value. It seems to primarily be valuable because...it's valuable. Does anyone care about Cerebus anymore? How many copies does Dave sell of whatever his latest book is? 300-500 an issue? Is there enough nostalgia for the title to keep those prices afloat? I don't know. It's definitely an important book, and a very cool book. I definitely loved it for a long time, but I'm wary of sinking any real money into that book. If I find one cheap, I'd love to have it, but otherwise, I can't do it. TMNT 1 on the other hand, I'd love to buy in if I could find the right copy for the right price. That is THE copper key. And Albedo? Well, that thing is a ghost, at least in my circles.
  10. I bought one of those 3-packs at a Children's Palace in Louisville, KY. I didn't care about Secret Wars but I LOVED the X-Men and I thought the cover was cool. Those books are, of course, long since gone.
  11. Whoa, that address would be worth a lot more than whatever you sold him, I'm sure. Those Rick n Morty fans are friggin nuts.
  12. SURE, they're fuzzy long-johns. You can tell me that, I can tell myself I believe that, but...I know what I'm looking at. As far as the key, they keep monkeying with the 3 pt line, I can't even keep it all straight anymore.
  13. It's not too late to get back into it! Join us in frittering away our savings on tiny plastic men! JOIN US!
  14. Super Goof always disturbed me because it looks like his costume is literally hairy. Like, I don't know if his body hair is so long and spiky that it sticks through the fabrics of his long johns, or if the long johns themselves are a living organism that sprout their own hair, but either way, man, I do not care for it, no sir.
  15. I don't have a lot of friends that are collectors, but of the few that are, most have glazed over when I've mentioned the Boards. I think the general perception (if there is even an awareness of CGC in the first place) is that the CGC boards would be for CGC graded comics, and the majority of comic readers/collectors don't give two carps about graded comics. It's hard to convince them that there is SO much more to it. Oh well. I'll just hoard all of this wonderful knowledge for myself!
  16. Wait, why is everyone being so nice? That's...unusual. Anyway, welcome, Ashton! Be afraid, be very afraid!
  17. Works for me, maybe I can afford a Kirby before I die! Huzzah!
