  1. Cool, love the Julie Doucet stuff, I used to be a big fan of Dirty Plotte but haven't kept up with her in a while. Great books!
  2. My preferred method of selling/getting rid of books, in order of preference: 1. eBay for high dollar books that are more or less guaranteed to end well, or sets that seem to be in demand. Auctions are dead (unless you have something truly valuable) so BIN with BO option is the way to go these days. But as has been noted many times, be prepared to be hit with eBay, ebay shipping, and Paypal fees. You're looking at losing at least 13% of what you "make". 2. Here for stuff that I think users will be interested in. Boardies are pretty stingy though, so although I have to pay fees through eBay, I will usually start there, then come here. 3. LCS for what is left after eBay and the boards. 4. HPB for what is left from LCS, though you should be warned, they don't pay much. For most moderns you are looking at about 10 cents a book, maybe a quarter. They do pay more for older books, and sometimes you can work that to your advantage. They aren't exactly pro graders, and tend to be more lenient in grading when looking up what a book is "worth". I've been able to dump pretty common bronze books and beat up silvers that no one else wanted for $5-$10 a book, just because they tend to thin "old = valuable." But again, beware, for the most part you are practically giving them away when you take most books to HPB. Tax write off may be a better option for you.
  3. At Lexington COmic Con a couple of weeks ago I picked out several very sharp late Valiant/Acclaim books, final issues of Bloodshot, Solar, etc, for a buck a piece. Also managed to pull three copies of the WildC.A.T.s 2 newsstand, also for a buck each. Not common, but the books are out there if you're willing to dig, for sure.
  4. Ha, that's funny, I was also a Razor fan for some reason when I was about 18 or 19. I think it was the mixture of the bad girl thing with the sorta goth, Crow influenced look. I had a bunch of the London Knights (was that the company?) exclusives, nude covers, signed books, etc. Not sure why, it was a phase, I guess, and long ago sold off.
  5. Also, if shipping online, you can get first class for packages up to 15 oz's. Leaves you a little more leeway than if you take them to the PO.
  6. Redacted following a de-elevation of temper
  7. Love and Rockets - the conclusion of the "Love Bunglers" storyline. One of the best stories I've ever read. Cried my eyes out.
  8. Heard about this show while at Lexington Comic Con a couple of weeks ago, and am going to try to make it up there!
  9. Will was the first dealer I ever worked with, and he has always been a complete gentleman. Fun interview!
  10. Logged into thread expecting to see Big Wheel. Leaving disappointed. Very disappointed.
  11. Oh, HERE'S the Friday thread. I was wondering where it was hiding.
  12. Generally speaking, aside from ultra high grade copies sought by collectors finishing their runs, they usually aren't worth much. BUT, as Oak said, they are GREAT comics with gorgeous covers, and terrific to own. I bought a stack at a yard sale for 50 cents a piece a couple of summers ago, and I keep them in the bathroom for a bit of light reading. But seriously, it's a great series.
  13. I think all of the annuals that year had the Bernie/horror theme, right? I bought all of them at the time. They weren't his strongest work, but they were still a lot of fun!
  14. There wasn't anything I was terribly interested in this year, so for the heck of it I sent my request in on the last day of the sale, which was what, 1/20 or something? So that was two months ago, and I haven't heard anything yet. But I'm sure he'll pop up in time, he always does. And if he doesn't, like I said, it wasn't anything I had to have.
  15. Picked up a very sharp set of the complete Ellis Stormwatch run (minus Stormwatch V2 #4) naturally, for a buck a pop. Haven't read these since they originally came out, happy to have them back in the collection.
  16. Yeah, and I used to to set them at what I thought were reasonable levels, but on some items I'm content to let it ride and take all offers. You never know when I might need some extra hookers/blow money one day and suddenly that 50% offer looks much better!
  17. So the toolbag never came back to the thread? Fine. Keep rolling with the butt pics, thanks.
  18. I don't like either of them, but when in doubt, I'd always pick the one with boobs.
  19. This is the only one I've got a pic of on this computer (I'm at work.)
  20. Yeah, Best Offer has been a huge help for me to move some stuff, as I usually build in a little wiggle room to my prices. Starting about a year ago, auctions just started eating it, and they never really recovered (except in the cases of genuinely rare/expensive books, which tend to find their proper price.) So I do pretty much everything BIN/BO now. What kills me are the people who lowball you at less than half your asking price. I don't even counteroffer those. Don't waste my time.
  21. Aw, if I'd heard from ya sooner, I would have sold you one at cost! I ended up keeping the Flash and the best GA for myself, and the rest went to the land of eBay, where they sold pretty fast. I'm keeping an eye on that shop in case anymore show up!
  22. Thanks guys! About the only time I run into this sort of stuff is at local-ish shows like these. I have a few LCS's nearby, but only two of them deal with much vintage material, and even then it can be slim pickings. So if I want to pick up the older stuff in person, these little cons are my best bet. And even then, I just don't see many early Hulks for sale. After I left the Lex show Saturday, I'm pretty sure the only early Hulk still available was a #4 that was priced a bit higher than what I was comfortable paying. Otherwise, everyone was cleaned out on Friday. They sell fast! Good luck hunting!
