  1. Picture perfect trade with Cal (my apologies for the delayed feedback...saw yours and realized I neglected my duties  ) Sent him a Thor 130 CGC 9.0 and he sent me a book from the famous hoard of IM/Submariner 1's (also a 9.0) Many thanks for the great deal Cal...let me know if we can work something out again in the future (thumbs u Heath
  2. Looks like someone is ready for some more of the NFL playoffs this weekend (thumbs u
  3. Still no PM...so no sale!!! Gonna have to put this post back in the long box or up on the 'Bay
  4. I see your point, but this could lead to some significant problems in the future (especially with similarly rare or high demand books). Let's say you offered the pending PM on a book that someone else has a big need for who then posts without any provisions. My guess is we would quickly have a battle on our hands. I simply base this on big disagreements you will occasionally see on the public versus PM situations. I always looked at it as you assume a time risk by sending a PM. Sure some sellers are slow to respond, but you have determined that waiting for a reply/discount/additional pics is worth not taking the book immediately. For example, in one of Frank's sales threads he posted an Avengers 5 for $20 or so but had a picture of #6. Great deal either way so I hit the In that case, I am assuming the opposite risk...committed to buy either way and assuming his description of the grade was accurate without a visual to go on (although he gracefully offered to let me take it off the table due to the error) The pending PM just seems a little like cheating to me Have to fall in the camp of folks who do not like this (and in my own sales threads I would not honor this if a came in the meantime. Just my two cents, Heath
  5. Probably based in something literate, but has the Simpsons coming to mind  (how cool a show are you that a grunt by the main character makes the cut as a graemlin??? )
  6. Thank you Heath. The new wheels are definitely a lot of fun. A true blast from the past. As for the rest of your post, your two cents are understandable. If I was not trying to change my way of thinking, I would feel as you do. That is not to say that you are wrong for how you feel. I have simply decided to forgive and forget. Thanks for having my back. Class act as always Scott...maybe I will put in a resolution for 2012 to be a wee bit more understanding/tolerant Have a great day
  7. Glad to see a resolution to this, and it is a great piece of art Kudos Scott for the cool new wheels and the perseverence to obtain a nice showpiece. That said, and I guess I am in the minority here, I still find the whole preceding situation inexcusable. Whether he meant to draw something offensive or not (and I am not buying that he was oblivious to it), it took THREE YEARS. I have little in the way of OA (in the process of learning before buying ), but if I do delve into the realm I already have a do not buy list in place of a couple of artists including Bill Sienkiewicz. Sad really, but simply because you work in a creative endeavor does not give you the right to trample upon customers. Anyway, my two cents
  8. Love to see a piece of good news in this thread Congrats (thumbs u
  9. I would think it is your call Nick. Sounds probation worthy if you would like to go that route. If not, I also think it would be appropriate to let folks know who it is, so we can stalk his/her WTB threads and mock them mercilessly
  10. For what it is worth I was the one that wound up making the purchase of his Hulk run before he was outed. He shipped the books, along with a multitude of freebies. However, upon going through the books I found a couple of issues to be missing (Avatar Goon #1 primarily). I contacted him, and he indicated that this was an oversight and the book would ship immediately...hope it is awaiting when I get home. Anyway, just felt that I should let everyone know where this transaction stands since it is not yet concluded
  11. Dennis is top notch...sold him a stack of Flash slabs and had payment almost immediately....look forward to working with you again Heath
  12. No real Draft Work needed. I PM'd Arch and asked if we could have a forum the same as Kudos, except for Probation issues. One name for one thread. This would make it MUCH easier to check histiry etc. The current Probation Discussion is a real mess. I have my Preferences setup at 50 posts displayed per page (default is 10) and I have 182 pages. So there are over 9000 posts here. I offered to help in adding historical data and also in helping moderating the forum (lots of moderating experience going back to 1980's bbs systems) to keep things in the right place. I know there are issues to address but I think it would work well and be superior to this here thread. Agreed...hope that you and Arch work something out (thumbs u
  13. Low grade to me always depends on price point, but I will definitely be keeping an eye out to fill some gaps and hopefully pick up a deal or two...what titles are you putting on the chopping block?
  14. Ditto...figure folks will ask if they would like to see something (back cover, centerfold, etc.) and the books are fully refundable in either case. Just too time intensive to get pics uploaded of both sides of all books, so I do it on an as needed basis. So nothing to hide (I think that was his concern) and will happily answer any questions that people have...tend to enjoy the discussion aspect of it anyway (thumbs u SE
  15. Seriously though, this thread is better than an episode of Melrose Place...goals achieved, personnages disparaged, claws extended, claws retracted, claws extended again, posts cut, cool pictures...you name it, it's here (thumbs u
  16. Just for reference, he is running a sales thread right now. It may be appropriate for one of the probation list keepers to place a brief message in there referring folks to this thread. I know I would want to hold off on finishing a transaction there until matters here were resolved first.
  17. Pretty straightforward given the facts above. Seems like you have been more than patient and nomination to the probation list is in order. Maybe that will motivate him/her to resolve a situation that should have been taken care of long ago.
  18. I consider it straight up PR. I guess my thoughts on what to do are heavily influenced by price, what you are collecting it for (i.e. only the cover where it would not matter), and your ability to tolerate waiting a good bit longer. Perhaps a partial refund request to the seller? As far as filling in the missing panel, folks here seem pretty forthcoming with scans when asked...what comic are we talking about, maybe someone can offer up some help (thumbs u
  19. It's just not there unfortunately...couple of pieces missing push it fully down to the 1.0 I think...plus it would just be a purchase for the hell of it and part of the fun of those instead of checking things off my want list is getting a good bargain
  20. I sold a nice VG (raw) for $250 (right at guide)...so, yes, must have been the "exception"...a cgc 6.0 just sold for 475 (about 1.2x guide)... as a frame of reference... for a fair copy, I would pay 75 "happily" and if $100 is what it takes to get, that is not an unreasonable price either Sitting at $120 and graded Fr/Gd with no room to negotiate grade or price, so it looks to be on the high side with the info you gave...thanks (thumbs u Let's see other books I was considering Sugar and Spike 5 solid VG/VG+...not a hot book but not much supply either...what would the G.A. tor buyer look to spend? Also, curious if it is worthwhile to think about Archie Universe books...Wilbur, Katy Keene, etc. Will the rising tide lift anything outside of frontline Archie Characters?
  21. Yeah, I was reading about that and wondered if there was something I did not know or if it was some sort of bidding war went horribly wrong. Thanks for letting me know the issue is still generally at status quo (thumbs u
  22. Another quick pricing question... What would be a good price on a Fair copy of An Earth Man on Venus...presents fairly well if that helps (thumbs u Thanks
  23. Chuck Gower sells a lot of moderns and seems to do well in his threads...might want to ask him. Also, it does seem that unbroken reading runs at $5-15 do better than common single issues or huge runs if you want to move lots of books.
  24. ... so you feel that in the scenario I offered, that Foolkiller should go on the list (don't worry Brian, this is just a scenario ) ? That people should be aware that he was working 14 hour days and slipped on shipping... so he should go on the list? In this scenario, putting him on the list would be punishment. The only awareness would be that we would be "turdz" for putting him on the list. ...and if my dog dies, you may never get your books You're missing the point entirely. People aren't automatically added to the Probation list - it's up to you, the wronged party, to step forward & take the necessary action in order for this to happen. It's also up to you what constitutes a probation list offense - the base guideline is 30 days after a buy/sale took place, but if you want to stretch this to 40, 50 or 100 days, it's not like anyone is going to prevent you from doing so. And if you want to cut the seller some slack because you know he's dealing with a personal crisis, that's your decision as well. But if a seller (or a buyer for that matter) isn't able to fullfil his obligations within a very reasonable timeframe (which 30 days certainly is), why wouldn't you want the rest of the board to be made aware of this? I see the point you are trying to make, and I am a big fan of it being the wronged party's discretion to add someone to the list or not. (thumbs u To me the conclusion that then follows is it is also up to my best judgment as to whether to share the situation with the collective board or not. Another example perhaps with the discussion above in mind. Let's say I bought $100 worth of comics from a boardie. I learn that there will be a significant delay in shipping because of a death in the family (or divorce, illness, or other assorted tragedy). If through our discussions I am reassured and feel that things will be taken care of and a plan is in place, I do not necessarily feel that the rest of the board should be made aware of this in all situations (albeit in some, it probably should....again I would use my discretion). Oftentimes, people do not necessarily want to share their personal lives and crises with a whole lot of people. Even well meaning condolences or well wishes can serve to keep wounds open or a situation omnipresent. People heal in different ways and some prefer to do so privately. So if through our private communications an agreement/arrangement is made then even after 30 days I may not notify the general population. Just seems to be a judgment call to me. Now, if that individual is seen claiming death in the family to me and later the same day buying or selling...then perhaps the situation has changed and I need to re-evaluate the initial decision. I guess that is a long winded way of saying that to me this is a more fluid situation and less black and white sometimes  Just my two cents as I wrap up work for the day, SE
