  1. I agree completely, and I also will apologize publicly if I am proven incorrect. I thought about jumping on all of those lots, but recognized that it was simply greed/eagerness for the good deal motivating such thoughts. Sometimes we see such feeding frenzies in the endless hunt for cheap comics without stepping back to look at the big picture. Oneasian had the right of it in my opinion asking for references, as he provided none However, people quickly jumped on the lots after that and I did not see any response to this post. In this case, there are some other troubling warning signs as well. Prices that are too good to be true (for instance the Deadpool lot where you get 150 books for $35). Any due dilligence would have revealed that he could have received a much fairer price. Buyers noting missed dates and inconsistent stories with respect to the books themselves also would concern me. Finally, (and I was a newbie no more than a year ago, so I know it sucks to reference this) I took a peek at the post count. He has nine and only three are accessible. That would lead me to believe that his other posts were in a thread that got yanked...maybe not a big deal by itself, but taking all these items together I could not buy the lots. I do hope that I am wrong, and I would certainly encourage machinegunned to let us know if there are any boardies to vouch for him (since he indicated that he avoids eBay). Again, as noted above I will gladly admit my misgivings are wrong if that is case. But I have had one of those bad feelings about this thread for awhile, and I am glad some folks took the initiative (where I failed to ) and expressed this concern. Just my two cents, SE
  2. I agree 1000%. This has nothing to do with LovinTheSurfer or her baby. Deals were made between thedanimal and forumites. That is where the attention should be focused. Kind of sat this discussion out to this point, as I felt any comments might just incite a poor situation where a solution short of complete meltdown still appears possible. However, I do have to toss my wholehearted agreement in on these two posts. As near as I can tell by scanning the previous threads, Danimal initiated the sales and was responsible for the threads with LTS offering some general comments/conversation only. Just does not seem right to harrass her or hold her responsible for the misdeeds of someone else, be it a significant other or not. As it is, her trying to pressure him to honor his obligations and do right by his buyers is already a pretty stand up thing to do given that it could create some tension between the two of them. Not a buyer in this process, so understand others certainly have a more vested interest and a good bit of frustration, but that is my two cents...
  3. +1 rumor has it he hoards hundreds of copies of NM 98 in a secret treasure trove outside of Hoboken :gossip: rumor also has it that he will only bathe in Deadpool Brand Bubble Bath...for that oh so heavenly scent of gun oil mixed with baby powder
  4. Curses! ...ship them off then...thought I might stuff a couple more in, but no luck tonight. Have a great holiday weekend (thumbs u
  5. ARGH! Already closed my tab and had books shipped
  6. Glad you are pleased (thumbs u Kudos right back to Freekster...several transactions and not a problem in any of them
  7. Kudos Totoise...prompt payment, and always a pleasure to work with
  8. Right back at you Mark...always a pleasure...the FF48 looks great! (thumbs u edit: forgot to make it searchable... KUDOS TO THE ALL MIGHTY TORTOISE!!! WE ARE NOT WORTHY
  9. Snake, I guess Alabama is closer than California . . . When did you get yours? After reviewing the PM conversation, here is what I can tell (did not record actual dates of things actually received...just going by pm timestamps). In each case I had a question or just a comment, he responded within 24 hours. He invoiced me on May 18 and I paid the same date. On June 1 I sent a pm thanking him and letting him know the book arrived. So at worst, the whole transaction took two weeks or less...hope the info helps and things resolve quickly. SE
  10. I had a boardie ask for a reference on BELLRULES and I gave the (thumbs u . Only bought one book, but did not have a problem with timeliness or his grading.
  11. Beer fueled purchasing strongly encouraged!
  12. @ $1 Now I know you're drinking. Buying for others...but yes, the generosity is fueled by Miller Light
  13. Agree with Frank...believe there was an auction last week for a midgrade X-Men where the shipping was more than the final price...seller can do what they want of course, but not a huge fan of auctions when the dollar amounts are low. Also, on a more insidious note I think sellers are a fan of the self-bumping (not an attractive new word there ) nature of the auctions. With the exception of comicwiz's widget, everytime someone bids you get knocked to the top thread. Seems to be a lot of interest of late in the prime real estate for your thread...can definitely get a leg up with the natural advantage there. Personally, I like Brian's approach to the auctions. Put the items up for sale, if there are no buyers at your price (or reasonable PM offers) then throw it up for auction to the highest bidder. Get the best of both worlds there (thumbs u
  14. Kudos to Brent at QualityComix on the books in his recent ASM thread. Received the books two days after paying (helps to live in the same state (thumbs u ). Tight grading and books look even better in hand. Always a pleasure doing business with you and looking forward to the next thread (maybe an X-Men one? ) Heath
