Hi all! If you hadn't seen this yet, a bunch of vintage photocopies of partially inked pages from Amazing Spider-Man #129 is ending in a few days on ComicLink:
These pages came from the estate of Dave Hunt, and all proceeds from the auction will go to Dave's family. Thanks!

Thinking about it, the Champions piece prob wouldn’t be considered a flip being that it was held for over a year.
That's a beautiful spread and was well-bought by the winner! I wish I had been able to be a contender for this.

Hi all! I have consigned two lots of Mark Trail comic strips to ComicLink for auction, and they are ending tonight. Each lot includes five-strips, and all strips come from a nice-looking storyline revolving around sea otters.
And before you think, oh, sea otters, they are so cute and harmless, who cares, please feel free to search the internet for fun facts about sea otter behavior. I am too sheepish to include links in this post, but the more you know, the more you may end up cheering for the oil slick that threatens "Buttons" and company in this storyline. Oh, and here's the auction listings, please bid bid bid!

When I started back in the 80s there was just the Comics Buyer's Guide which had the ads for comic books and comic art for sale. Some of the dealers today were advertising in the CBG. It was a publication which shipped to the readers/collectors on the east coast then made it to the west coast.
Unfortunately, much of the new art offered in CBG was already sold. Some smart collectors had it shipped overnight so they had a better chance of buying artwork. Being on the west coast it was CBG, cons (only SDCC and Wonder Con) and Mitch's catalogues were the only way to buy comic art way back then.
Just a reminder that you can see thousands of these old CBG and Mitch catalog ads in a searchable database:
It also has full scans of many old catalogs from the 1970s!

If I remember correctly, wasn't that the #162 Ultron cover? There are two versions of the #162 cover, the one Perez did and the published cover, which is almost exactly the same, that was done by the inker. There was a kerfuffle over it when the published cover went up for auction and a dealer sold one from his site that was the exact same image but wasn't technically by Perez.
It could have been the #162 cover. There certainly was some excitement and confusion at the time. I agree that Perez didn't do the art for the alternate, almost-identical version, but that it was probably Pablo Marcos.

I think IF they took the extra step to provide 600 dpi scans of art to 3rd parties, that should ONLY be done with the new owners permission.
I don't know of an auction house that does provide high res scans to 3rd parties, so my question was purely a hypothical question.
Heritage does provide scans to Marvel for its Epic Collection trade paperbacks. It's not quite the same thing as an Artists Edition, but the back-of-paperback scans are part of a non-inexpensive book that is being sold by Marvel.

Now that you mention it, I do recall. Maybe the inker did it?
Don't recall any specifics though

That sounds familiar to me Malvin.

I seem to recall from years ago that a very high-quality recreation of this cover by George Perez came up for sale privately or at auction. The recreation was so good that some Perez collectors momentarily thought it was the real thing. I could be having false memories here, but it seemed to cause a brief sensation. Anyone else recall this?

Hi all! I have listed two Gene Colan pages from his adaptation of the Little Shop of Horrors movie. These are two of the better pages from the adaption, with many images of Audrey. The pages are $525 each, or both pages for $1,000. Please contact me via the email address listed on CAF if you are interested, although an "I'll take it" response here could work, assuming you follow up when I PM you. I also reduced the price on a Kurt Schaffenberger Superboy splash listed in my CAF for sale gallery. You can see all of the affordable art for sale here:

Lo, there shall be an ending...to the Billy Graham estate consignments of Hero for Hire art to weekly Heritage auctions. The last two pages to be auctioned, with all proceeds going to Graham's family, include an atmospheric urban scene with pencils and inks by Graham, as well as a kind of gruesome page from Tuska and Graham:

Good work, Lee, but I think it might be better if final results were in on your auction comparisons, as opposed to current bid status?
That's a good point Terry! Maybe I will go back and do a post-mortem once the auction ends. I have gotten in the habit of trying to list these items before the auction ends, as I tend to "move on" mentally once an auction is over. But I will consider a "wrap-up" post after the auction ends, to see how many multiples (if any) the current auction price is over the price from decades past.
