  1. Great looking books being posted. I wish all my 7's looked like this.
  2. Here are my CI fanzines. Anyone know of any CI fanzines before The 1972 Classics Collector's Club Newsletter?
  3. A lot of neat and diverse collections shown so far. I collect Lone Ranger stuff, 19th century Yellowstone stereo views and Classics Illustrated wire display racks and fanzines. Here are my CI display racks.
  4. I've really enjoyed the thread and am sorry to see it winding down. You've obviously upgraded some (or a lot) of your earlier posted books. I'd love to see a "before and after" type pic of some of those upgrades after you're done with the last 18.
  5. Thanks to one of Catrick's awesome sales threads, I was able to get a copy of Black Rider #8 (1). March 1950 cover. CGC labels note it as Stan on the cover and I've seen one where he signed the cover "Yes, it's me, Stan Lee" or something like that. I'm not sure of any other covers he's on.
  6. Some more nice ones and I especially like the Winnie Winkle. The eggs on the guys head made me laugh. Stinks about the X-Men #1 though.
  7. From one blonde about to be rescued to another.
  8. I had no idea that the Chaplains comic was based on a true story. Not exactly my favorite Cole cover but I see it in a completely different light now that I know they're about to die. That's a great looking stamp honoring them also.
  9. That's a great looking copy and one of my favorite FC's.
  10. I hope not. There's still way too much for me to buy.
  11. Here are the inside cover and splash page of Fighting Daniel Boone.
  12. I like the bright yellow covers on this one and the Hickok.
  13. I really like some of these drawn Ace covers too and this Complete Love is an excellent one. I just double checked the census and can't find any listed either. Very surprising. Here's a Love At First Sight with a cover by Alice Kirkpatrick (per GCD). The Complete Love doesn't have a cover artist listed but my limited eye would say it might be Kirkpatrick also. Love to hear other opinions.
  14. It's very understandable that the lady that sold you the book didn't know her aunt was Carl's second wife. Not exactly a topic that would have been brought up at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
  15. From jumping off the second floor to getting knocked and thrown off.
  16. That's a great note to go along with the book. Lucky for you it wasn't in the auction listing. (I also just checked Wik and it looks like Clara was Carl's 2nd wife though.) Very cool to have a Four Color #9 that came from Carl Barks (via a North Dakota piano bench).
  17. I agree, definitely some excellent covers in this run. Great looking copies of the 7 and 8.
  18. One of the few (maybe two?) Kinstler Fawcett covers. Done a couple years before he started his work for Avon.
  19. I don't remember the Pancho Villa being posted but both these copies look great.
  20. I'd be happy with your version too... if I could read French.
  21. Here's the same page from the Fantagraphics version, though I couldn't fit it all on my scanner. The book measures 10 3/8 x 14 1/4 and each book contains 2 years of Sundays. I'll be reading the 15th volume this weekend and highly recommend the Fantagraphics series.
