  1. Random lot of raw goodness this weekend. Modern thread and SA/BA thread. High grade ASM cooper books, few minor keys, mostly Marvel, but will be a few indy's. Prices will be decent...you've seen these threads from me before. Should be fun. No Peter what's his name, revival, NWA, walking zombies, or whatever else the cool kids are buying.
  2. Agree. I had a bunch of baseball cards as a kid. I kept them in a binder with those plastic sheets. I tried to sell them when I was in collage and they were worthless, because of the condition. Good thing about these books is that they were smart enough to bag and board and then tape into the slip sheets. They stay about two inches away from the binder clips. Reflecting back, it could have also been when I thumb tacked the plastic sheets to the bedroom wall...right through the cards...that caused the condition issues on my ball cards.
  3. Have not bought much, but here are a few that I picked up over the last month LCS finds.. Don't collect, but couldn't pass this next one up given the grade and price... Soon to be top census... Picked this up on eBay about a month ago. Dawn binder that was released that had a copy of each printing of the first three issues. Outside of being signed and very high grade, there's notthing special about the books, but only 50 were released.

  5. I doubt it Could just be that one new one was found and someone bought it and upgraded theirs.

  7. Dimebag_D has made good with me. Unless anyone objects, I'm going to remove him from the PL.
  8. My entry to the list is official. I don't have in hand yet, but paid for this today.
  9. As long as Matt isn't selling books, I could care less that CGC owns a pressing/resto company. Until I see evidence that grades are impacted, like missed restoration or grades that are way off (more than what they've been in the past..), I'll reserve judgment on there being a conflict of interest. I can't make the leap that internal pressing services = gift grades. If that were the case, the argument could be made that any paid service above normal grading stood a good chance of gift grading. Pay for express grading...get a better grade. Have more books graded...get better grades. I just don't see that as being the case.
  10. Yes. Can we please have more regulation of the Selling area? It is so much better than individuals handling the business themselves and voting with their wallets. I gotta disagree with that. It more has to do with operating in a business-like and professional manner. If a seller can't be bothered to use a calculator to work up your pricing, what else are they cutting corners on? To simply hope that the general populace will "vote with their wallet" sounds lazy. That's basically saying that no one's feelings should be hurt or no one should be put out of their way to conduct business around here - because it's a free market, and if you're an assclown, you won't get any business and you'll eventually go away. It's a simple rule to make, and requires very little of the seller to implement. We've wasted 10X more energy discussing it than if it were just enacted to simplify and streamline the selling process. No one's civil liberites are violated in asking them to use their brains to calcuate a 3% fee into their selling price. A seller that gives a break for someone paying by check/money order is not operating in a business-like and professional manner? After a quick review of what's out there, guessing a lot of this is directed at my thread since I didn't see others asking for the 3%. It very well could be the sellers preference to do business in this manner. More and more on high-dollar transactions, it makes no sense to me to give 3% to paypal for no reason, not 3% of my money and not 3% of the buyers money. Generally I discount well beyond the 3% for cash based transactions and give the buyer the option of giving their money to paypal. I understand the protection that paypal gives to buyers. If anyone is worried about not getting something they pay me for, they're generally going to be better off shopping somewhere else anyway.
  11. Received this stunner today from highgradecomics.com
  12. Wow awesome set of books Frank. Are they your keepers? These are (thumbs u
  13. True. The back covers on each and every one of those ASMs may have been soiled or defective in some respect. Perhaps the owner can shed some light on it. CGC has tightened up the grading but the only thing I could complain about is that they were not "soft" graded. Overall they were pretty close... - the #56 is spot on - the #59 under by .2 - the #64 over by .2 - the #65 spot on and maybe over by .2 - the #67 under by .2-.4 (previous 9.4 and hell Nick/F_T had this book at NM-) - the #71 spot on - the #72 under by .2 - the 78 spot on to over by .2 (indent by prowlers first laser blast that you can't see in the scan) - the #80 under by .2 - the #87 spot on - the #90 over by .2 - the #92 spot on and the #97 spot on
  14. Picked up a few this week for the collection. A couple from fellow boardies and one from eBay. From eBay... From comicanadirect.com... From Spider-Dan...
  15. Yup, the last time I looked there was only a 9.4 in there. My guess is that they'll get this one added by the end of the week.
  16. Couple of nice boxes of keepers for the ASM run came in today
  17. Frank - any update on this? Otherwise sounds like it is good for the list. Thecactusish and I were able to connect. He's recently made payment and the two of us are square now. (thumbs u
  18. Not a comic, but this was what I added this week. Alex Ross pencils for the "kiss" painting in the opening credits of Spider-Man #2
