  1. This lot was incredible. I'll post some pics tomorrow as I'm on my way out. However, the editing is pre-production, not pre-reprint production as was advertised. You can tell because the errors don't show up in the first prints. It's got handwritten notes in the margins on what to correct before print. And the kicker is... The editing pages for issue #1 were not all that were included. The complete editing book for issue #3 (further proof its pre-production, since issue 3 never saw reprint), the last two stories in issue #5 (aids story) and another book that I've not flipped through yet.
  2. Seller owes you a refund of $28 ($24 on the first package and $4 on the second package, since he didn't ship them as specified). This is assuming the second package arrives to you safely. Is he charging for insurance that wasn't visible to the recipient? I know every time I get a USPS package from Sarasota, the label has an amount that is nowhere near what I paid.
  3. But wasn't Arch stating that THAT is how they've been handling it. Meaning that comicalgems Mystery Box sales thread was perfectly fine and NOT a raffle. Otherwise it would have been "out" and *poofed* just like a few other recent ones. Agree, think that was his way of saying, "get your affairs in order".
  4. For some reason, I thought the boardie with the active raffle thread in question was located in CA. Interesting read here on CA and raffles, Link Lots of regulations for closed/non-profit raffles. However, it looks like raffles are not subject to a lot of regulations in CA if those that don't pay for a "ticket", which I would take to include the mystery box in this case, have the same chance as anyone that asks to be entered without buying something. However, it looks like they have a big no no against running one over the internet in CA. Guessing this is the reasoning behind Arch's post. Why mix government regulations and comics? Of course... Passing the Funny Book Affordable Care Act in 2014 could help to increase my comic fund from the wife!
  5. According to Arch's post, this is not a raffle, right? In comicalgem's sale, the purchaser is assured to receive comics that have a higher value than the amount paid. To me, this seems to be fine, in regards to what I bolded in the quote from Architect. If he had set it up differently (say, boxes are $150 each, 9 will will have FMV of $100 and one will have a Walking Dead #1), then that would be a raffle. Read the second half of Arch's post. Second half is pretty clear, "if it smells" "then it's out." Good read on raffles... Link

  7. They're a lottery. Get the proper paperwork filled out and buy a Conner store or a casino. I wouldn't want anything I sell associated with gambling. I disagree with lottery or raffle. Buyers are hoping for more than the majority get. LOTTERY B, we agree on something this week. The mystery box sales are a well-disguised raffle/lottery. You're paying for the chance to get some unknown beyond what you paid for with them. It could be the kicker book that gets drawn for or the contents. No one buys them with the intent and hope that they’re going to $50 (or whatever they sell for) dollars’ worth of drek. Put the same drek out in the open in the same lots, slap a $50 (or whatever they sell for) price on them and see how many get claimed. The seller's like this format because they can entice purchases by giving the chance for folks to get more for their money. That's a lottery or a raffle any way you cut it. Not that I would ever participate in them myself, but would be glad to see them gone from the market place as they just take up real estate.
  8. And - correct me if I'm wrong - GPA doesn't collect sales data from here, right? I thought you could self report if you wanted to? maybe I'm thinking of something else. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there are a few dealers that sell on here that do report.
  9. I like the idea, but think the threads could be organized off the sales forum. CG is a hot mess and that's on a good day.
  10. The Horror Con book was a $400-$600 book on a pretty consistent basis up until the last year to year and a half. It's not a surprise to see it end there. Good to see. The editing sheets and the CFD #1's were a likely considered a bargin for whomever got them for $331. My guess is the Counterfeit book will get sold off or dropped in the trash as the buyer isn't likely a big fan of the counterfeiting of the work. The cool item is the editing sheets. For anyone that's got a strong collection, it's items like these that are new/different that will draw out the cash. Same with the stained glass box or the sun catcher that are just insane pieces. For anyone with a big collection, you just don't often get a chance to buy items that are new/different. I wonder if I got in a bidding war with Frank and lost. I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Those auctions were a good learning lesson. The stained glass stuff wasn't my thing, but I wondered what they would go for. It was a fun set of auctions to watch. Those pieces will look good in a nice glass cabinet full of other dawn oddities, statues, books and sketches... Of course, that's if the buyer had such a thing.

For anyone with a big collection, you just don't often get a chance to buy items that are new/different. I wonder if I got in a bidding war with Frank and lost. Those editing sheets are very cool. Yeah, that is very good news on the HorrorCon #3 - I figured that an unsigned copy wouldn't command the same prices as a signed copy, but I figure with that ending price that any HorrorCon is a rarity in-itself. That CFD stained glass box was really unique - gal who ran the auction said that only a few people ended up with those because they were expensive, and hand-made by a local guy, not mass-manufactured. With the frequency that Linsner signs books, it almost seems like any book without a signature is rarer. It's a shame because his signature doesn't add a whole lot to book. The sketches are a bit different story. Patrick That's a fantastic observation. One of the last few books I'd ever part with...try finding another limited from the Lucifer series without a sig...
  12. He didn't tell the buyer he didn't want to sell. He hinted he may not want to sell. Some would say he was bartering. (thumbs u Didn't the person nominating him post the PM exchange where he states I'm going to keep the book and the buyer just plowed forward? The argument of those wishing for the seller to be on the PL is that the statement "I think I'm just going to keep it" is open to discussion/debate and what he was really doing is bartering. Despite the fact that "think" is defined in this context as "believe", which means the seller stated I believe I'm just going to keep it. My guess is it's a regional thing. I hear people say "I think this" or "I think that" and know that's fact according to them. I don't take it as they want me to convince them otherwise.
  13. Eight days passed in his thread without any activity. When has enough time passed where the takeit is not considered an automatic entitlement to purchase the item? I think eight days meets that criteria. Personally, if I saw a thread that didn't have any activity for 3-4 days, I would probably post a takeit with the phrase, "if still available" and not be upset or look to nominate someone for the PL if they didn't sell me the book. But hey, in a world where everyone is looking for an angle or a defined box to manage every aspect of their life, maybe I'm the crazy one.
  14. Your right. It doesn't seem unreasonable. When the owner of the site wants to impose some rules, I'll consider them reasonable given the free listing.
  15. Don't know either of the guys involved and don't think I've done business with either of them. However, the buyer was told in PM by the seller that he was holding on to the book. A book that was in a sales thread that hadn't had any activity in about 8 days. The buyer then pulled the douch move of posting a take it in the thread to force the sale. Regardless of what type of a person the seller is, he shouldn't be in the PL for this one. I'm with Joe, this makes the PL a joke.
  16. Can't say for sure what would happen Justin. I know the last post that the 'kid made in that thread was on 4/24 and jawn's was placed on 5/1. I estimate the 'kid's thread was somewhere on page 5 or 6 of the sales thread when the was placed. I don't know how many people go that far back and post signs. I personally know that I never go back past page two or so... but that's because I check the sales threads daily. Looking at jawn's posting history... he may have to go through pages of threads since he stays off the boards a week or so at a time. That said, as you said the 'kid hadn't put "closed" on the thread... but then keep in mind that Walking Dead #1 CGC 9.8 slab that Branget has up still doesn't have a "closed" sign in it. We have to decide "when" is closed. I would say part of the problem would be that no one had taken the time to actually tell oceanavekid to close his thread if books were no longer for sale. There are still no rules in place that dictate when a sale is closed if the seller hasn't marked it closed. All that has been posted as answer's to that query is a few guesses and someone said "common sense". The bad thing about that "common sense" is most people seem to lean in their favor concerning discussions about common sense. This case for example... the 'kid says he's going to keep the book. He might think the buyer would use common sense and realize "hey he told me he's going to keep it". The flip of the coin is, the buyer doesn't see it that way and hits the take it. Now the buyer thinks that common sense should dictate the seller sell him the book. Common sense is great as long as everyone agrees two things... 1) its common... and 2) it makes sense. That sometimes doesn't happen around here If we could find out an answer to this question... it would be a FANTASTIC section to add in your N00B Guide. Now all the board has to do is agree on when a sales thread is considered inactive and what time frame would be a fair cut off This.
  17. Can't speak for the 'kid as to why he didn't get up at 3AM that night and close that thread before jawn popped the at 4AM. I'm just trying to see where oceanavekid was using a negotiation tactic when he stated he was "holding the book" ....before any actual negotiating took place It looks to me like he posted that he was going to "close down in a few days" on 4/22. If I came across the thread on 5/1, I would assume the thread was closed. It looks to me like the buyer saw it on 5/1 and sent an offer. When told by the seller that the book was being kept, he decided to throw up a take it and force an issue. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Seller shouldn't go on the PL.
  18. I do it all the time if I know the person is a boardie. Your post has to be sarcasm, right? False douchery masking the fact that you're amazed at how trusting of you someone is? Say it's so, because that post is pretty bad.

  21. I agree with you on the red flags. I'd tread lightly around that one. Ok an update on this tool and a request that he be placed on the HOS list. After balking on our deal I listed the piece on EBay. I thought I had a reserve programmed on it but when a bid was placed it disappeared and sold for $300 less than the originally agreed upon price with this Kcurren fool [my fault here, I'll have to eat the mistake]. To my chagrin the winning EBay bidder was none other that this Kcurren guy! So I wait a couple days as I contemplate either; a) not shipping the page at all b) getting my daughter to draw a stick man on a piece of paper so I could mail that to him instead or c) drawing a big dong on the page and then shipping it. I was hoping to hear from Kcurren who would at least acknowledge what had happen and would maybe make good on the difference but that never happened, big surprise. So after cooling down a bit I decided to ship the page and honor the transaction but this dirt bag must be banned from these boards forever as far as I'm concerned. How do I make sure that this happens? Just another update on this tool who is trying to sell stuff in the OA section of these boards. Take a look at his comment in this thread. To me its clear and malicious attempt to deceive and this clown should not be allowed to sell on these boards period: Link Probation list or HOS, either one but how do I make sure he is noted on one of them? That's pretty bad. I read that comment that he posted and you quoted as, "I know I got over on you for some $, ha ha". I've not been up for some of the HOS nominations lately, but I don't see how it's not HOS worthy for someone being caught celebrating the fact that they beat another board member out of $. You've got my vote. I say PM him and let him know your intentions and invite him here to air his side of things. Then we vote.
