The Phantom Stranger 30 cover was one of the first pieces of OA I ever bought. Fantastic piece!

The S looks more faint on the slabbed version and you’d expect this book to have been pressed and cleaned with no money left on the table. Gorgeous copy anyway.
The ink “I” was scrubbed away. Looks like they were able to take a nice looking raw 4.5 and turn it into a graded 7.0. I have a feeling this book in hand may look a bit different than the computer images you see.

Gi Joe 21 holds a special place in my heart as it was the first comic I ever read. I’m glad someone who appreciates it as much as I do owns it!

Just because you are the first to draw in a certain way doesn’t mean…
A. You are good at it!
B. Your art is worth $1m+.
C. Others will appreciate it.
D. All of the above.

Some years ago - maybe 3 to 5 years or possibly more ... there was a Phantom Lady 17 thread about the high grade copy that was sold through Pacific Comic Exchange long ago. . How can I go back and find that thread - it appears that the limit for searches is about 3 years ... but I sometimes see people pull up and refer to much older threads.
I believe the thread was started by one of our long time board members who is still active on the boards and was the owner of the book. He was wondering where it was and how it graded? I can't remember which member it was that owned the book - but again I believe it was one of regulars and owner of some great books - but I can't remember which one ... perhaps he'll see this or someone else will who can help me get to that old thread.
I was the owner of that book. Rotor sold it to Al Capp and he sold it to me. I believe it was listed as a NM on the exchange, but it wasn’t. It was an amazing, fresh looking copy but it had small spine stress and a tiny hole. Pink pages.

When I went throughly the MH list a few decades ago, I identified 133 doubles. However, the caveat to that is Chuck only listed doubles if they were different grades. I know of several doubles that are not listed on the MH list twice because they are the same grade (by Chuck’s 1977 criteria). I also found 1 issue that had triples!

But they are clearly alluding and indirectly referencing the Church books when they speak about the Promise books in the same breath and in the same sentence as the Church books. The clear intention here is to lead the listener or reader to think in terms of the Church books when they think about the Promise books, but then again, maybe that's just me.
Actually, based upon the books that's present in the Promise Collection that we've seen so far, the pedigree that comes to my mind is that the Promise Collection is really more of a super high end (i.e. condition wise) Davis Crippen pedigree from my own personal point of view.
Based on condition and years, the Promise Collection resembles the Big Apple Collection more than any other pedigree. Big Apple books pre 1943-1944 are unspectacular and lower grade, just like the Promise. Then in 1943-1944 they become quite amazing. Big Apple book as also generally have White and OW/W pages. They are also coded as well.

I see several 11/29 strips for sale on CAF!

Let me begin with how I still love Superman ... especially Wayne Boring issues, but I think we have also become desensitized to just how little popularity the Superman character enjoys today. GOD BLESS....

Maybe we weren’t watching the same auction. The Actions pretty much all went for record prices! I’d say Superman is doing just fine!

You are partially correct. Heritage does have a warehouse full of comics! I know, I was there!
