  1. I guess this is as good as anyplace to ask this question. Why did Wrightson leave Swamp Thing after 10 issues? Boredom, in-fighting, pay raise denied, demanding work load, new promising project? Anybody know for sure? It doesn't seem like Wrightson stayed on anything for too long!
  2. If Sol Brodsky did indeed draw the ad, I'd say that was a poor choice on Marvel's part!
  3. At first glance, on the bottom edge I thought it said "PUNCH STEVE DITKO".
  4. Question for the masses. Who drew this ad page from Amazing Spider-Man #1? Considering it is housed within Spidey's 2nd book, only Ditko & Kirby had drawn Spider-Man up to this point... & it doesn't look like either one of them drew it! Thoughts?
  5. +1... not to mention I couldn't hear a word he was saying! Love that Ditko!
  6. I’m glad I snagged this Surfer/Galactus/Watcher piece a while back. Can’t imagine the cost now!
  7. I can’t watch your videos, you make me want to spend money on statues!
  8. I’m not quite sure what you are asking, but no one submits for a 9.9. There’s a reason the highest prescreen is for 9.8. Anything higher is rare... and gravy! I can tell you, in general, for me a 9.9 has to be centered virtually perfectly, no spine stress and only 1 tiny corner issue can be present... and by tiny I mean like the size of a pinhead. A 10 wouldn’t even have that as it should be flawless to the naked eye. By comparison 9.8’s can have several more tiny defects such as a few light spine stress or 1 moderately sized one. Most books are not worthy of 9.9 on printing defects alone, such as tiny production tears at the spine corners, production edges creases, and on ultra moderns, production bends on the front and back cover. Many brand new books also have light circular indents near the corners, like the size of a nickel. Hope that helps people know what to look for... in general! Oh, and Transformers #1 is notorious for a production rough cut, usually to the top edge of the back cover.
  9. As a grader, I can tell you there IS a difference, however, that does not mean the difference is worth the price! The difference is SO tiny, that dollar-wise it really doesn’t make sense. There is a much bigger difference in defects between an 8.5 and a 9.0 than there is between a 9.8 and a 9.9... and to me, that’s where the real disparity lies!
  10. I believe half the movie budget was used in the last 30 seconds when the Human Torch did a “Flame On!” The rest of the movie you can skip! Lol
  11. Robert is in Dallas, about 15 miles minutes from me. Convenient! And he does incredible work!
  12. He also gave Heritage about 1,000,000 or so Dell File copies. I saw them, filled up an entire warehouse!!! It was fun picking out 9.8 copies of HR Pufnstuf #3 with several long boxes of them!
  13. The only guy to even come close was current NY art dealer Alex Acevedo. In the early 80’s he amassed a very large quantity of the MH collection, hundreds of Timelys and thousands of DC, Fox, Centaur etc. After a while and years of “price gauging” and increasing multiples of guide being demanded, Alex dumped the entire collection to John Verzyl. The collection almost went to Geppi, but Geppi was advised to ask Alex for his financials and Alex told him to go to hell.
