  1. Thank you. It's a fairly decent copy and I'm definitely happy to have it. I know there are at least a few more here somewhere and possibly some Disney books left and as I find them, I'll pool them together for pics. There were also quite a few Beatles music magazines from the U.K I believe. They were about the size of a "TV Guide" but about as thick as a normal comic book. I'm guessing about 10 or so and all in fairly nice condition. I checked them on Ebay to better identify them. I checked out GCD and saw the gaps you spoke of so I'll more than likely take a scan of the Indian copy and post it there for them. Thanks for the thread as I'll also check that out. Since I've never dealt with foreign comics, I haven't acquired much knowledge on them so I'll do some exploring and educate myself a bit. Yeah, the owner of the collection had 51 short boxes. Short boxes are said to hold around 150-200 comics depending on bag/board thickness. Many of the books were in bags only... which I found incredibly disturbing but still managed to stay in excellent condition. I'm attributing that to the notion that he likely bagged them and left them there without disturbing them constantly. Since I've picked up the collection, I've added mylars and boards to everything worth keeping (so far, I think I'm around 2000 mylites ) but by the time I'm done with it, I'll feel better knowing they are preserved as they should be. Chances are, even that 6500 estimate is off a bit. He more than likely had closer to 200 per box which would put me between (150 comics per box x51= 7,650) or the more likely scenario... (200 comics per box x51=10,200) but since there were a few magazine boxes as well, I'll estimate around 8000-9000 pieces. This was definitely a cool collection and I'm happy to have been able to scoop it up.
  2. That's kind of funny because I was actually thinking when going through all the different years of books, that I like the ads on back covers! Here's a Superboy # 53 pulled from the collection with an ad that I would have been crazy for as a kid.
  3. That's an interesting find! I wonder what else is in these boxes
  4. Ahh Thanks. I'm familiar with Cage and if you haven't watched it, the Marvel TV show "Luke Cage" on Netflix was really good too. I'll have to look up that thread you had mentioned about UK price variants.
  5. I looked through quite a bit of what has already been bagged and boarded. I've found these two so far. If I find more, I'll eventually post them. Not entirely sure about the Disney book since I haven't researched it yet but I'm pretty sure there were a few more Power Man price variants even though I haven't located them yet.
  6. I'll see what I can dig up. I'm not certain on conditions or even what issues are here but I'll certainly post them. Let me see if I can dig them out now rather than later. It will take a bit but I'll post what I find.
  7. I see. Thanks for pointing out the difference. Now I'm not sure what the ones in this collection are. I believe they were Power Man or Power Man and Iron Fist issues. I'm about 1/3 the way through putting fresh bags and boards and mylars on most of them but once I go through them again and start the alphabetic order placement, I'll pull them aside and snap off a few pics of what I find. There's 6,500 books to go through. Some really nice Disney books from 1960 GK too. Might be a few variants in there as well. Mostly Donald and Scrooge from what I recall. Should be within the next week.
  8. "I have an 8300 and it's great." I have the same scanner and for some reason, my scans don't seem to be as nice as they could be. They come out too dark, they lack good color and they aren't sharp enough. I'm wondering what software you're using to scan because I think that might be my problem.

  10. Any suggestions or info is a lot of help so thanks just the same. I'll be sure to make a note of that.
  11. That's a big help. At least I have a starting point as to where to go. They were actually marked Italian on the original bags they were in so I didn't even think much of it and moved on. I think they were marked as Italy because it says "printed in Italy" inside so the seller assumed it to be an Italian copy. I've seen pence copies of comics here and there but never owned any until now. There were several marvel books in this collection that are apparently U.K copies since they have the same monetary mark on them. Thank you.
  12. I found these in a collection I had recently purchased and from what I can tell, they are Italian but I couldn't find the numbers or title in order to look them up. I had checked the interior cover and first page but all I had found was "Top Sellers" with no numbers. I know its not much to work with but aside from the Top Sellers info, the interior wasn't much help to me. Maybe it's just me and I'm overtired since I've been bagging and boarding books for over 14 hours straight. Any help identifying them would be great. Thank you in advance.
  13. I was just referring to print runs of today vs books from the 90's for example. I think that many modern titles these days are in lower print run numbers overall IMO. I think modern books are still very collectible. Aside from variant issues which offer lower print runs, there are many important books and runs to come out of the modern era. I had posted that to add my as to why modern age books are still sought after by many collectors. Books such as Edge of Spiderverse 2, Ultimate fallout 4, Young Avengers, Deadpool first ongoing series, Aquaman new 52 run to name a few, have all become favorites with collectors and I find that there are so many interesting characters coming from the modern age that the back issue market for them will continue to stay popular among collectors. Don't get me wrong though, I love so much from the Golden, Silver, Bronze and Copper era as well but moderns definitely have their place.
  14. Print runs aren't what they used to be. Many titles are much lower in numbers than they once were.
  15. As a collector, I've been known to go overboard as well when collecting. It's tough to separate my collection addiction from my website (not a shameless plug, just sad fact lol). I've also been collecting 9.8 copies for about 3-4 years. I believe I'm up to 12 WWLA 9.8 copies, 1SS WWLA, a Dir cut and a regular cover 9.8 as well. I do that a lot with characters I like. I piled up Batman Arkham knight 1 years ago and I've only added to it since . This pic is old but along the way, I picked up a 9.8 gamestop store gold variant as well. Could be but the did come out at the same time according to CGC labeling. I haven't investigated the interior on a copy since I only have a regular covered copy in raw but I am curious.
  16. I'm not sure what the print run numbers are on the Director's cut vs the standard cover (87,991 was supposedly the print numbers but not entirely sure if that includes all 3 variants or just the standard cover) but based on the cgc census, I'm pretty sure its safe to say that the director's cut is much lower in comparison. At one point, there were those who suggested that the Wizard World LA variant was limited to around 500 copies but since then, that number has been considered a bit too low. I'd image at the very most, the WWLA copies must be a couple of thousand or less but that's just a guess. As far as newsstand copies, I've only seen direct editions.
  17. Can't believe a Director's copy sold for $400.00 on the gpa (not that someone couldn't "pump" the price) but Its possible. Far fewer of the director's cut on the census than the original cover so the sale would make sense. Never understood why it always under performed when compared to the regular counterpart for that same reason.
  18. Picked these up over time. Just grabbed this really nice 9.4 wp last week as well. As everyone knows... books of this era were often poorly wrapped. I thought these were nice enough and I also held off to grab white page copies.
  19. Is it? That's two books of yours that happened to find its way into my collection in a short time. I like this copy and the white pages don't hurt.
  20. GPA also has a Doc 169 9.8 that went for 14k with a Stan Sig and an ST110 9.2 SS Stan copy sold for 32k not that long ago as well, which is also impressive. Only a few years ago, I sold a Doc 169 9.8 SS Stan Lee copy for $3,500.00
  21. I think I posted this in the "what's new" thread but it makes sense to post it here. Picked it up within the last week or so.
  22. Got this one in the mail today. Very happy with it.
