Here it is everyone! With all the travel out east to PMC40 and travel back it's taken a while to ensure I'll have everything in order to make copies available online. Have a great week!
Awesome. Hope I'm lucky enough to grab one next weekend.

Nice grab. I've been bidding on 3rd prints recently but haven't won one yet at a price I'm comfortable with.
Really I think I'd be better putting the money I'd spend on one of these 40th Anv reprints towards a 1985 3rd print.

Damn, I missed Rich's version. But looks like the Portsmouth site doesn't ship to Canada anyways.
I saw a WhatNot sale of Rich's go for around $260 last night and the Jetpack for over $200 also.
Hoping Rich will have more for sale on his own site and I can catch one there. His site ships to Canada...although shipping gets very expensive.

I plan to put up a limited number sometime in the coming weeks. I'll announce it when I am able to do it.
Thanks for the info. I will keep an eye on your site.

Is there any way to buy the Rich version with the original cover art online?
Thanks

Means low or no regional distribution in Canada for the first printing of UBP 1? Market manipulation, instant hot hype?
My LCS in Victoria BC said they had only ordered 5 copies to begin with as no one had wanted any at FOC. They got shafted and got no copies.

I like how he left a comment that referred to me as being unhinged. I guess you missed that in your assessment, but I certainly wouldn't want to influence your decision on what you found genuine or not.
I had a YT channel when these guys were in diapers. I've never, not once removed a comment, even those made by real trolls.
There was nothing I said in my original post that was either impolite, or could have been deemed flagged content. I've had my YT account for over 10 years, and comment on a wide range of topics, it just so happened when I commented on his post, telling him I'd made a discovery, that that's the only comment that got deleted. A few hours later, he posts about a discovery HE MADE.
Happened with Swagglehaus as well, which is where I also left a comment. And more recently when I told him my objections with Borock trying to speak favourably about Haspel - Swagglehaus claimed it was because people wanted to be Switzerland in situations like this.
You keep relying on these guys for your sanitized, hype-induced analysis, that in a nutsheel is appropriated by the real people doing the work, all under the guise of neutrality. Let's see how that works out for everyone.
I'll stick to calling a spade a spade.
I appreciate everything you have contributed to this thread. I've read all 390 pages and have followed all your discoveries with great interest. You've gone above and beyond anyone else in this whole scandal.
In the end, what I think about the AC situation is meaningless. All I believe is that the explanation he gave makes sense if your original comment(s) did indeed have a URL in it. Still doesn't mean he is telling the truth but YT does auto-delete any comments with URLs and they don't notify the content provider when they do.

I guess that both of them aren't that bright then.
I remember.
FWIW, Ryan addressed that in a subsequent video and gave his side of the story. Believe him or not, I found his explanation genuine.
Ryan is correct that YT auto-deletes comments with links in them which as you can see from that linked post Comicwiz's comment on Ryan's YT video had.

That's hilarious. Can we just ignore him?
The same Automatic Comics doosh that did this:
Not that it really matters much, but for the people who are following along with the Youtube crowd, StickyGoose doesn't think there is a scam.
Guy is a dope.
We've already seen that he, as Automatic Comics, stole info from comicwiz in his comments, deleted them,, and stated it was his discovery
Automatic Comics (Ryan) and Sticky Goose are two totally different people and totally different YT channels.

I don’t think one could say that the scandal has definitively impacted anything. The 194 9.8 sold for 2650 which is right at the 90 day average and where the book has been bouncing around since mid-2023. Depending on the book and platform - it has moved between 2500 and 3000 for six months.
the 181 9.4 was 7% off the last sale which was in Oct so that too feels like a general marketplace decline. The 7.5 was soft but the 6.0 was exactly flat to 90 day and 12 month average - it was also the 2nd highest sale across the last nine sold.
Given volume that books like ASM 300 and IH 181 trade at - and how likely it is that only a small subset of buyers even know about this topic - I personally don’t think is going to directly affect values that much This board is probably not representative of the knowledge and expertise of the average collector/hobbyist
Thanks for sharing that GPA data. I don't subscribe to GPA anymore so was using GoCollect and most of those sales are strike-through best offers on GoCollect so I wasn't getting a fair picture of the recent sales. It was interesting that a lot of the recent sales were on the 350 list.

The number of reported sales of 9.8 ASM 238s and 300s on GPA in the last 30 days are microscopic. Not literally, but close.
ASM 300 in 9.6 sold for the lowest it has since ~July 2020. $750.
-
Prices were certainly down on most 181 and 194s yesterday at HA. Although a 194 had sold a bit lower in November. Hard to separate out the continued general decline in prices from any effect the scandal may be having on them.

I guess if they do have scans of all graded books going back for years then they could just compare covers of the questionable books to the scans without opening to see if the MVS or tattoos are there.
The MJI you should be able to see from the side without opening. I know the 99newstand mentioned there is another way to tell if a book is MJ without opening it.
-
Just saw on IG that GoCollect has the Cert Lookup feature working now so you can type in the # and see all sales of that cert with the usual high-res photos!!

So, 350 pages in and I just learned something new about this incident that has really disturbed me that I never heard before.
The person who originally blew the lid off this story, 9.9 Newstand, recently chatted with the gang at The Code-X Comic Station youtube channel yesterday.
In the conversation, 9.9 talks about a 266 X-Men MJ variant which Zaneglor had up for consignment via Grailz. He talks about having a discussion in DM's with the consignor, Zaneglor via Insta at the time.
This is a DM discussion Zaneglor and 9.9 had months before the sale of the infamous swapped 9.8 252 MJ variant.
In the ad for the 9.8 X-Men 266 MJ, Zaneglor commented that only 7 copies of such a highgrade X-Men 266 existed and 9.9 had asked him how he knows this as they aren't broken out on the census, nor on sites like GPA or GoCollect.
According to 9.9, Zaneglor responded by saying he has been "a professional collector for 30 years who had called in favors at CGC and we decided, me and the higher-ups, that there are 7 of these books".
(412 seconds in if the link doesn't work right)
Zaneglor may have been totally lying when he talked about collaborating with CGC "higher-ups" on the 266. However, the mere suggestion anyone working for CGC had collaborated with Zaneglor in ANY manner should be automatic grounds to disqualify the impartiality of any internal investigation.
For the umpteenth time, law enforcement needs to get involved in this investigation, yesterday. At the very least, we deserve to hear from CGC as to whether LEO's have even been approached on this matter.
I assume this is a different "Comic Station"
9.9 did talk about all this way back in the beginning on one or more of the Davengers YouTube live shows.

So far results at Heritage today show the market is very strong. Record sales on many books. Certainly no indication that this CGC scandal has had any effect on premium buyers. Even H181 sold strong although being a 9.8 probably helped as there has been no evidence of that high of grade involved in the scandal.
Biggest takeaway.....early DC Batman and Detective are where to put your $$.
-
I also noted on their IG an image of a ASM 300 that has the CGC# photoshopped out. Yet most (all?) of their other slabs still show the serial #. Hmmmm....odd.....
I wish the photo with the 6 ASM 300s had more resolution to read the numbers. The two with custom labels especially.

At least that's the way I read it.
"Any fraudulent sales can be reported directly to GoCollect for removal from our database"
That is the line I and others have issue with. Not the "remove the threat" line.
Edit: I see GoCollect has responded on IG to Comicwiz and they state: "We agree these kinds of records should not be deleted. They will be segregated and removed only from impacting the valuation of a particular item"
So all should be well.

Wait new books have been added to the list?
I don't think so. Comicwiz thought there had but then corrected himself later on. He had missed it in his search by not including the hyphen in the search.

There are "valid" sales yes but also shill sales are apparently a part of his M.O.; this came out somewhere in the previous 300 pages; I believe this is what GoCollect refers to removing
Very true. I'm not sure how GoCollect will figure out which ones may have been shill sales. If they want to pull all the affected books on CGC's list from FMV calculations then I do hope they still allow them to be searched and high quality photos retained.
-
I understand people wanting fraudulent sales pulled out of FMV calculations on GPA and GoCollect....like when someone shill bids up the sale and it never really completes.
But in this case the sale price on a lot of these are still a valid sale. Even if the book inside was a Green label H181, the sale of the "Blue label H181" reflects a fair sale of a blue H181 in said grade. Could still be valid in an FMV calculation.
