  1. I just checked GPA and since March 31 here are all the sale prices for #1 in CGC 9.8: $2000, $1920, $1800, $1900, $1820, $1698, and $1750. It will be interesting to read this thread in 5 years and see where the price goes. IMO if the shows end before 5 years and the movies don't do well the price will probably be around $1,500. If the series gets better and the movies are successful the book can easily be worth $2,500. If the Rick movies do well they will definitely keep making Walking Dead movies. The importance of the first Rick movie being a hit is huge for the future of the Walking Dead.
  2. I have read the entire series and at one time I had issues #1-#170 in CGC 9.8 condition. The 7200+ print run was common knowledge. In the ample message board discussions on the Walking Dead the print run was never disputed. This is the first time I have ever heard anyone question it.
  3. So you have no idea then. Therefore going with the reported number is probably the way to go. 7266 , 7300, or even 7500 is pretty much the same thing. Regardless the print run is a very low figure which should minimize the value going down much more. The TV shows and the upcoming movies should keep the comic relevant for at least another 5 years and possibly longer.
  4. So in your opinion how many are there?
  5. I just looked it up- the print run for issue #1 is 7266.
  6. The print run was less than 7500 copies. This will definitely help the value. Plus it's possible the show could get good again and the Rick movies could drive up the price.
  7. In season 7 I think they were drawing 20 million people a week. Not bad for a show that always sucked. Regardless of what any individual thinks the show was a huge hit for ample years. Like I mentioned when I would go into work on Monday there was always groups of people discussing the new episode. The new writers and producers ruined the show just like they ruined Fear the Walking Dead with their asinine unrealistic plot lines. In addition having buffoons and weak people leading and making group decisions killed the show. Hopefully they get new writers and return the show to how it once was. It's possible the Rick movies could be solid but I doubt they will.
  8. I just got this in the mail today. I purchased this from HighGradeComics. Thank you Bob. Great customer service.
  9. Nobody is getting worked up. I still watch the show. The show has lost millions and millions of viewers so it's not just my friends that have this opinion. The main point of my post was what's the current value of WD #1 and how the show losing its popularity hurt the comic value. It was not to discuss political correctness.
  10. It has nothing to do with race or gay characters. Since we can't discuss politics I'm leaving it there. It's not that hard to figure out.
  11. Do you currently watch the show? I'm in law enforcement and work with mostly men. 90% of them have stopped watching the show. I work in a very diverse building so the men are from every color/religion/culture you can think of. If you have watched the entire series have you noticed anything that might turn off a high percentage of the male viewership? Have you watched Fear the Walking Dead? That show might be the worst show on TV. It was ok the first couple of seasons but the last season was horrendous. The writers for these two shows obviously have an agenda and it's turning off a large segment of their viewership. There's lots of reasons why people stop watching TV shows and when you lose millions of male viewers there has to be a reason. When I ask the men I work with why they stopped watching it was the same answer. My best buddy who lives in Kansas, who also happens to work for law enforcement says his coworkers stopped watching for the same reasons. I will continue to watch the show until it ends. I keep hoping they will get new writers/directors and return the show to how it used to be. Years ago I could not go one day without hearing someone discuss the show. I would hear people discuss it at work and at various stores. It was a huge hit. It's been months since I have heard anyone discuss the show and when it's brought up it's always negative. The Walking Dead TV show really helped the comic industry. It brought many people into the hobby and it's a shame how the show has changed.
  12. What is Walking Dead #1 in CGC 9.8 selling for right now? The cheapest one on EBAY right now is $2,200 but I doubt that's the current market value. What would be a fair price today $1,700? $1,800? It's so sad what the writers/producers did to this show. My entire family used to watch the show every week plus we watched Talking Dead. It was a family event every weekend. Today I'm the only one left. I work in law enforcement and pretty much everyone I worked with used to watch the show. Today I'm one of the few who still watch the show. Political correctness and asinine plot lines have killed the show. Recently I rewatched the first 5 seasons and it's so much better than the trash they are throwing out every weekend. I'm trying to think of another hit show that went this bad. I know Dexter had a lousy last season but that was only one season. The Walking Dead has been bad for many seasons and this has really hurt the comic value. Hopefully the three Rick movies will be good but if the same people who are writing/directing the show are involved in the movie I doubt it.
  13. Thanks Gatsby. Great info and I appreciate it.
  14. Question. How do keys usually do on comiclink? Is this a place to find good deals or do the keys usually sell above FMV/GPA. Personally I have never purchased anything from this site. The main reason is they don't show a picture of the back cover. I have emailed them in the past to send me back cover photos but it's hit and miss. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't.
  15. Thanks for the response. I appreciate it.
  16. Thanks for the replies. You all made some good points. One question I have regarding the $850+ price for a 9.4- where are you getting this price? According to GPA no copies the last three years have sold for more than $800. Of course we are only talking about a handful of sales.
  17. It's been happening a lot lately. I'm also noticing one or two newer members commenting on ample posts that had a last response many years ago.
  18. Nothing this seller is doing should be liked or respected. He's a thief and a liar and people like him are hurting the hobby. When people realize they have been ripped off a percentage of them will leave the hobby for good. That hurts the hobby. What's great about the CGC community is we look out for each other and all collectors. We do this by alerting the public of sellers like this. It makes me sick when I see people pulling scams and it should always be looked down upon. This seller is a crook.
  19. Why are people bidding so high on this guys auctions? He's selling a raw ASM #194 and the high bid is currently $1,009. Current GPA for a 9.4 is around $300 and $500 for a 9.6. I guess bidders are assuming they will receive a 9.8. but of course we all know there's little chance that happens.
  20. In your opinion what is the grade?
