  1. She despises the fact that Paul Verhoeven included her exposed hoo-hah in that scene. Her version is that he lied to her and said the panties were creating a glare . . . Sorry you didn't get you The Quick and The Dead sketch signed, though.
  2. Richie would know - I apologize for the mis-information. --S.
  3. The best time to get Ben Edlund is at SDCC in July.
  4. This has been a spirited discussion for many years. For me, the analysis came down to three factors: How available was the book, how special is the pedigree, how important is the signature? That was then shaped by the opinions of Boardies like @Flaming_Telepath who vigorously and convincingly argued that we are not owners of pedigree comics we are curators or stewards. So I would analyze thusly: Can I get the XXXX Pedigree that I have signed? Yes. Should I have the XXXX Pedigree book that I have signed? Apply the three factors. In doing so, I had a Western Penn Nick Fury 1 signed by Steranko (there are multiple WP copies of that book) and I had a couple of Northland Charltons signed. I don't think I would ever get a big Golden Age Ped signed. Maybe for Frazetta. But a Church Cap or an Okajima Jungle - not me! Even a White Mountain Hulk, not me.
  5. How about "this person will cancel a sale if he thinks he get a little more scratch out of someone else." Or "Caveat Emptor, because this person may use your "purchase" to leverage other buyers." Or this person is a sketchy douchesleeve
  6. The Korgi book series by Christian Slade. Good for all ages, but especially for the littles. They are more like graphic novels than pamphlet-style comics. But they are comics.
  7. Triple up-the-nose shot! More if you count the monsters.
  8. Same logic as to why I chose 9.6. Some 9.6 look comparable to 9.8 and some even look superior, so a beautiful book for 40% of the 9.8 cost always resonated with me.
  9. Well, I think part of it is also that we are kind of talking about different types of books. I think that your comment is spot on when you say You could spend $1,000 on one 9.8 book and see a 20% return, or spend $1,000 across 3 9.2 books and see a cumulative 40% return for example. That is an analysis of books like keys or mini-keys, particularly when you are buying before price spikes. I am talking about books like Super-Friends #1 or Joker #1 or Marvel Two-In-One #1 - books that have not much else going for them other than that they are #1s from Marvel or DC. So in addition to your quite accurate "no one size fits all," I think that there are different points of inflection based upon where we are in the business cycle (hot vs. not) type of book and tons of other potential variables.
  10. When I was really deep into collecting Bronze Age #1s I would always buy 9.6 instead of 9.8. It saved a ton of money on the front end, but it also cost a ton of appreciation on the back end. Many times I looked back at books that I bought for say $70 because I didn't want to pay $150-200 for a 9.8. When I went to sell them, the 9.8 would have sold for 300-400 and the 9.6 was $100. So it would have been a better play to spend more in order to make more. I doubt that things are same in these post-COVID doldrums, but my experience was often that the extra money not only would have created more pride of ownership, but also would have been a better investment.
  11. This is exactly correct. Also, to the OP, it is why you will see all the "Is anyone going to the XYZ Convention next month." Most serious SS collectors map out opportunities to get multiple signatures at conventions that they want to participate in.
  12. Just glad to see you buddy! Killer book.
  13. @SLABBED SS ADDICT Both of those cast books are absolutely EPIC!!! The Carpenter Thing movie is just so good. I would really caution you to look at that upper left corner before you crack for Kurt Russell. It might drop to a 9.6 or even a 9.4 if the damage that looks like it is there is really there. That many signature and holding 9.8 is awesome. Great work.
  14. You guys may think my train has gone around the bend, but I think if a 9.8 Gold Key Scooby-Doo #1 ever shows up it will be a high five, low six figure book.
  15. This does not appear to be an error. They are consistently doing the same thing - putting REPRINT on the right where the Pedigree slot is, and putting REPRINT after the signature. They do it on the GRR and now they are doing it on the Action figure reprint. It is great for making sure everyone knows that is is not a first print 1961 version.
