  1. Yep. I wonder who'd win in a fight between Supergirl and Elsa...? The House of El always had a weakness when magic is used against them. #teamelsa #youaresopredictablejerel #butyouareprobablyright I'm also basing it on that awkward 15 seconds after Nuclear Man froze Superman in that chunk of ice where the camera followed him as he floated away in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Elsa would have been more thorough and and ended it with a somber musical number about being cold and alone. #elsa1supergirl0 I've completely erased Superman IV from my memory. As far as I'm concerned, it never existed. Who's Nuclear Man...? Would Supergirl's heat vision work on Elsa's magic ice? Now that's the all important question! I would say yes. Supergirl is vulnerable to magic but her powers can still overcome its physical manifestations. Solar flare... game over OK, I was going to turn in early tonight, but I see a game is a foot. Elsa could team up with Mr. Freeze to freeze National Cirty (like Arrendale) to make Supergirl submit to her power or else it's citizens will be permanent popsicles. ...But you will counter, Supergirl could team up with Batgirl and use her "expert" computer skills to move the orbiting satellites to relay the suns rays to thaw the people in time, like in Batman & Robin. ...That's a gamble if you erased that one from your memory as well. #elsahasacoolercape

  4. Wrestlers tend to threaten and trash talk for a lengthy amount of time before the eventual fight. But, I agree by the time they get ready to start production, he might be already elected governor of California and retired from acting. NOOOOO!!!! He'll come out of retirement and make a mediocre sequel Unlike Bodybuilders, the wrestlers get replaced at each installment (see The Scorpion King, 12 Rounds, The Marine.) By Shazam 2, we'll have The Miz as Black Adam and by part 3 we'll be lucky to have Mr. Kennedy in the role.

  6. You're more than entitled to your opinion, but i liked Craig just as much as Sean, if not more in some ways. Henry Cavill is a great Superman, and has a FAARRR better body for Superman, and would be just as good as Reeves with better scripts, imho. Also (imho) while I'm at it, wouldn't Solo have to be portrayed as a fairly unlikable pirate, to not blunt his character any worse than the Special Edition Star Wars. If he shows his heart of gold in this one, wouldn't that take away from the first Star Wars plot twist and just give us more of the same? I'm all for more Star Wars... just not beaten into the ground my favorite characters they will.
  7. Not sure how I feel about other actors especially younger ones taking over "signature" acting roles. I guess I would have been fine with Chris Pratt taking over Dr. Indy. But, Harrison put a lot into Han right down to his scowl. This isn't his Jack Ryan character, he took over for. No one has been able to take Christopher Reeve's Superman (or Clark yet,) Sean's Bond (Craig was close.) Focus on newer adventures with new characters instead. In the words of Han, ""I've gotta bad feeling about this."
  8. I knew this would happen... It was too obvious with Benoist's musical background... Having Whedon at the helm and including Music Meister in the story to make everyone sing is just using the Once More With Feeling formula... ONCE MORE WITH FLYING! Remember, you heard it here first Maybe she'll do a cover of "Defying Gravity." How about... Once More With Flying Featuring Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin With Special Guest Star Idina Menzel as... Reminds me of the opening credit sequences to the 70's Wonder Woman TV show. "...with Henry Gibson, John Getz, Richard Kiel, with special guest star Robert Conrad and a special appearance by Jamie Farr." Who?

  10. Just finished reading Michael Phillip's review of it. Sounded like a Modern classic.
  11. Loved that movie. I even have the Academy Award screener somwhere in my funnybook movie section. It had a great DVD cover.

  13. I thought WWZ at least had a plotline to enjoy. A medical mystery to solve, plus a 'mission impossible' course of action and act of heroism. Good stuff, way beyond the typical kill-cry-survive gore wallowing monotony of typical zombie tales. Definitely worth a re-watch. the sight of them going over the wall in israel was worth the price of admission. That scene still gets me every time. A homage was paid in Despicable Me 2 even.
  14. I keep forgetting this series got a 97% on RT (compared to another female driven new series, Blindspot which yielded a 66%.)
  15. I liked the idea of a bunch of kids making him up and the "Superman/Shazam!: Return of Black Adam" short was a good time as well. Loved that I always used to say Captain Marvel (Shazam) was my 3rd favourite superhero. I guess I'm too old to say that now... Always had a crush on Mary Marvel from the 70's era, although the Judy Garland look was kickin' as well. Loved those Bullet Girl team ups, not so much Freckles.
  16. Good choice. Then when Black Friday arrives, you should get Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow... ok maybe not that last one... Gotham maybe? I still haven't opened the first season set I bought last year. I just literally have no time. But, after completing my Superman news article (I'll share it on here once it's in print,) I was feeling sentimental for that series. I've had John Williams and John Ottoman's score blasting in my truck for a week as I wrote little stuff here and there. The music of inspiration... look forward to the article NOOOOO... not Gotham (Not a fan) A lot of people knock Superman Returns, Ottoman melded a little of Danny Elfman in too, especially in tracks #3 and 5. At somepoints it feels a little like Batman. Thank you. I always wanted to do an article on a real life superhero. The first and last three paragraphs fire on all cylinders. Just touching up the middle before next Tuesday's deadline.

  18. I bought it today to catch up with it better and watch the features. It'll be the last new TV series I buy before Black Friday. Although Blindspot is drawing me in now.
  19. Diane Lane in "Streets of Fire" is the only comic-booky movie you need of her from thirty years back.
  20. Superman III anyone? I don't remember if that was an eventual protest about Richard Donner though? I know Gene Hackman didn't cooperate in Part II and a stand-in was used. I think you are right. Gene Hackman may not come back for this one. I wonder if he ever did a Donner movie after taking a stand against the producers?

  22. I would be super into a 'Return of Superman' (NOT SUPERMAN RETURNS) like in the comics. Cyborg Superman, Eradicator, Steel, Superboy + Mullet Superman, guest starring Green Lantern. "Superman Lives"
  23. Not sure what I'm doing about Supergirl: Season 1 on Tuesday. I have a $10 coupon for Best Buy or I can get it for $30 (through Redcard) at Target (I think it's a Special Edition of some kind there.) Then... We are getting awfully close to Black Friday. Last year every store had all the Supernaturals, Gotham Arrows, Flash for $10. Just no iZombie: Season 1's (they price crashed literally at Christmas.) I want to be like Kenny (Rogers) and "Know when to hold 'em, Know when to walk away and know when to run..." (I'm guessing that showed my age a little.) I'm betting, I'll pick up one (Target) and hold off on Arrow, Flash, Gotham and Legends... until Black Friday.
  24. Sounds like the "Con Air" point I made 10-15 pages back in the thread. It's actually a clever marketing strategy that went on towards the end of some last minute fireworks before the summer winds down. You see these critic proof summer hits from time to time (Congo, The Mummy Returns, etc) that people seem to enjoy regardless of narrative quality and critical bashing. The Mummy Returns was awesome... Only for Rachel Weisz's Evie character. I've always been somewhat infatuated with her (even as the damsel in Chain Reaction.). #beautifulcreatures #bournelegacy #consta... I forget. Of course #consta...ntlywatchingmoviesjustforrachelweisz But true. Ahh... but worth it I was about to say she'd have made an excellent choice for Enchantress in SS... seeing as they went for a Brit... but then realised she's possibly outside of the "target age range" Just finished the new release The Lobster. I have no idea what I watched, but it had Rachel in it. She's still got it. #reallifebondgirl Or the scene where she seduces Ray Fiennes toward the beginning of The Constant Gardener. Day-um... I liked that one.
