  1. It's not just the millennial crowd that likes this. Two of the people who I saw this with were soccer moms. One had a Master's in Teaching. A lot of people liked this movie as it has now won three consecutive weeks. The word of mouth got around that this was a fun and exciting movie like Deadpool. But he does have a point about there being nothing much else out. There's no way it would've won the weekend with 20 mil if there were other big releases. So yeah, excellent timing on WBs part. I think the same thing happened with FOX's There's Something About Mary in '97. Except that went from August working it's was up to the top spot on Labor Day weekend. Not a lot of competition, but a word-of-mouth campaign.
  2. Oscar nominations coming? I think Warner rather have one of the greatest box office for a movie in August than a statue. Suicide Squad just won it`s third week in a row at the box office. Not to mention all the Suicide Squad merchandise sold. Never underestimate Hollywood egos. Everyone wants to win the gold in March. It gives credibility to an actor or filmmaker. These kinds of movies are just mortgage payments to an actor/actress/director. Guranteed franchises, served to us as products we buy into, like our beloved funnybooks. You think Will Smith would rather play Deadshot in a string of DC movies or win an Oscar for something meaningful? Same with Affleck (a very gifted director) is seemingly going to make a new career playing Batman. Eventually, the studios are going to have to evolve this genre from summer tentpole movies, into something of more meaning (the inner turmoil and politics of The Dark Knight,) if they want to be taken seriously in the Hollywood community. Goodbye, final showdowns with the main villain, dispensing hundreds of CG aliens, robots, undead armies, choppy editing, etc.
  3. You are not alone. I didn't care for TNG myself as I too was around Welsey Crusher's age as well. I felt the producers made the Enterprise too much like a cruise ship. The Crusher character was mainly a plot device to get in trouble when necessary. Basically, he was really annoying. Not Wheaton's fault as a child actor, more of a writer/producer thing. Never cared for Jonathan Brandis from Seaquest either. I think the only child actor from that eight year span on a somewhat syndicated TV show that really stood out was Jessica Alba's Maya character on The New Adventures of Flipper. She went through all the growing pains/child-in-jeopardy stuff, yet acted like she had a psychic bond with a dolphin, the other cast didn't try to. I guess that's why she was the only one to make it to Season 2.

It appeals to us Pre-Millennials too. We'll gauge that on your "WolfCop" viewing.
  5. Yeah but on 60 minutes, I thought he said he was getting sick of doing sequels/remakes and wanted to start doing original stuff again.
  6. This x1000. Yup. Totally agree with Mr. Gower. They're just trying to give an old spider new spin to an ever-growing and potentially larger audience.
  7. Defective DVD. Kept freezing up 45 minutes in. Pretty good so far. I'll replace it one day to finish it. I'm tempted to go out and buy it and send it to you It's wonderful, a great way they could have done all the movies I really liked the mature tone compared with the most recent DC animation ones (except for the exceptional The Killing Joke.) I have no doubt it is going to chart high on the list and might even be the best Justice League movie, knocking The Flashpoint Paradox to #2.

  9. Who cares? She's NOT Mary Jane. Change for a random reason is BS. If I was an 18-year-old superhero and my girlfriend was Zendaya, I would have to face the fact that I just hit the jackpot.
  10. You'd take your family to see a movie about a rabid dog!?! Useful information for kids when living across the pond. NewEnglandGothic funfact #31,816 I went through two separate sets of rabies shots while growing up. Once when I was five (farm dog) and another when I was 34 (feral kitten.) #41&rabiezfree
  11. It's been on Film Four a few times. Decent B-movie. I'll take your word for it, Ken... and keep a look out for it on Film Four. It was one one of those movies you watch only once. The opening scenes were the best, but by the end you'll need a crane to maintain your suspension of disbelief. This is from someone who would give four stars to the werewolf movie "Ginger Snaps," and three and a half out of four to "Dog Soldiers."
  12. Red Sonja: Queen of Plagues is a motion comic... so good luck with that! Never liked the look of those myself. Remind me. Was Wet Hot American Summer the point where the Garofabubble burst? Or was that Mystery Men...? I did not know that about Red Sonja. Back it goes tomorrow. I hate motion picture comics as well. I thought Paul Rudd. Elizabeth Banks and Chris Meloni were brilliant in that one. Hard to believe Bradley Cooper had a role in it as well. I always thought Janeane's bubble started to burst around the "sell-out" rom-com "The Truth About Cats & Dogs," I think in '97. I don't count her ensemble work in "mystery Men," "Summer" because she wasn't the focus. She hit rock bottom with "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior."
  13. Other than Supergirl: Season 1, there hasn't been too many decent new releases, so I picked up a DVD of Wet Hot American Summer and the animated "Red Sonja: Queen of Plagues" today on Blu Ray. It looked decent, not sure if the animation is crappy. Worth a "blind buy" I guess.
  14. I can believe it with The Killing Joke being on top of the list. Blu Rays have dried up all over NH. I haven't seen that since The Force Awakens and WolfCop.
  15. She;s got my vote! And then... Melissa Benoist is 5'8" ... Funny, I always thought Lynda Carter was taller than that. I keep thinking they filmed nearby me from that picture. We have a dome building like that in Milford, NH, near Hampshire Hills. Aren't they filming in Canada now? Lynda Carter is only 5'9". Next of all, someone will tell me Dr Banner's real name was Bruce and not David... Yeah, they are filming it in Canada. I guess up there the sidewalks are made of cheese, as a boardie pointed out. Thus possibly distorting various actors' heights. I've booked a vacation up there this fall to experience that feeling as I am also a cheese enthusiast.

  17. With what few episodes I saw, her KC Undercover is your usual generic Disney kids show, but it's appeal lies with what the somewhat unique cast brings to the action cliches. Lead actress Zendaya blends nicely into the ensemble. She should do very well in the Spider-Man cast.
  18. Challenge accepted Jon Cryer's character r e a l l y needs to show up on Supergirl. ...as well as Nuclear Man (who can have his own netflix series afterwards.) "Destroy Superman Supergirl!" I don't think so Jon Cryer...? Isn't he a "serious" actor now? Even so, he could play the character with a campy menace.
  19. The House of El always had a weakness when magic is used against them. #teamelsa #youaresopredictablejerel #butyouareprobablyright I'm also basing it on that awkward 15 seconds after Nuclear Man froze Superman in that chunk of ice where the camera followed him as he floated away in Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Elsa would have been more thorough and and ended it with a somber musical number about being cold and alone. #elsa1supergirl0 I've completely erased Superman IV from my memory. As far as I'm concerned, it never existed. Who's Nuclear Man...? Would Supergirl's heat vision work on Elsa's magic ice? Now that's the all important question! I would say yes. Supergirl is vulnerable to magic but her powers can still overcome its physical manifestations. Solar flare... game over OK, I was going to turn in early tonight, but I see a game is a foot. Elsa could team up with Mr. Freeze to freeze National Cirty (like Arrendale) to make Supergirl submit to her power or else it's citizens will be permanent popsicles. ...But you will counter, Supergirl could team up with Batgirl and use her "expert" computer skills to move the orbiting satellites to relay the suns rays to thaw the people in time, like in Batman & Robin. ...That's a gamble if you erased that one from your memory as well. #elsahasacoolercape Umm, yeah, that's what I would've gone with Nope, erased. I'd rather watch Superman IV! Mr Freeze is my all time top villain but I have to say, I doubt Elsa would consort with ice villains #noway The edition with 30 minutes edited back into Quest for Peace is a lot better than you think. Even though most of the special effects are incomplete, it flows better in a retro Superman II way. 20. Yep. I wonder who'd win in a fight between Supergirl and Elsa...? Even though most of the special effects are incomplete, it flows better in a retro Superman II way. Challenge accepted I'm fairly sentimental with Quest for Peace. It was the only used VHS tape I didn't buy at my town videoplace in the 80's. That thing sat on a rack for a decade. When I finally watched on some regional TV station, I realized it was so cheesy it was good watchable (with a certain amount of alcohol.) Compared to Crow: Wicked Prayer, Catwoman, Steel, Batman & Robin.

  22. I can agree with this. I liked it the first time I watched it, but then realized it was somewhat patronizing during the second watch. Your opinions on s.Darko?
  23. There were 2006 double disc "Limited Edition" DVDs of the original trilogy with the 1997 Special Edition on disc 1 and the original laserdisc transfer of the original cut on disc 2 (somewhat muddy looking compared to the upconverted Special Edition.) I used to see these at Best Buy only around 2008-2011, but haven't seen them since other than online. I only see the Special Editions and Episodes 1-3 at yard sales and used DVD stores.
