  1. Wolverine 80 should see a bump too Absolutely! 1st Appearance of Wolvie's spunk in a test tube is on the rise again?
  2. I'll tune tune in next year, But, because I hope they got their act together. I mean they have a terrific lead that can morph from Annie Hall to Linda Hamilton believably during scenes. I think they need to trim the supporting cast a bit, jettison the forced romance, I don't mind the sister stuff, but stop giving Alex a chip (too distracting.) I think, this season ender didn't help season 2's chances. Really juvenile writing, I'd be surprised if anyone in the mainstream thought it was good. My
  3. I need a 500 ft. tall crane to maintain the suspension of my belief after the last couple of episodes. I know it's a show about a woman in a gravity defying miniskirt, but we are entering a quality that rivals the third season of Wonder Woman.
  4. Check out another one of Michael Shannon's baddie roles in "Premium Rush." "I'm chasing a bicycle." He's wicked funny in it.
  5. I'm not totally out on it, but I generally agree with what you said about the last two eps. but on a bigger scale, I think NON was the worst part of this season, he just didn't make me care one way or another, not in the same way some of the other tv 'big bads' have on the other comic shows. I think it would have been 'better' if not a bit darker for Auntie to be almost redeemed then have NON killed, then Auntie be permananently twisted to the darkside while Kara keeps believing she can still change her back for good (but she can't and has to destroy her ultimately). But that's probably not the same show. This show is an innocuous cupcake for families to enjoy together, and I think it performs that job admirably well and gives plenty of nods to the fanboys. But everyonce in a while, we get reminded its not built for 'us' exclusively, or even primarily. OMG, I'm so glad it wasn't just me. I was afraid I was going to get jumped on for saying how lazily it was produced. Now, I haven't watched all of the season, but jumped back on during the last five shows or so. Up until the last couple, I regretted missing them. But boy oh boy, what a cruddy way to end the season. I'm gonna put some spoilers for Bats. Then there is the whole constant villains scheming over their plans that seemed right out of the Power Rangers. These bad guy kind of hideouts on comic shows died out during the Sylvester McCoy years on Doctor Who. I'm surprised they didn't have an ugly DUFF sidekick they slapped around silly for cheap laughs. Benoist has no chemistry with the actor who plays James Olsen. They are both good actors (Benoist a little more generous with her screen time, intentional or not), but there is no sparks. The intitial solution to the original threat felt too forced. . Benoist acted like she ran out of stuff to say. "Help me Help you. Help me Help you..." To me, it looked like they ran out of money and stretched the effects budget too thin in the first place. So we got a rushed ending, involving a surprise... There's so many things to list. I'm gonna buy the season on Black Friday and follow it next season (somewhat). But, it's obviously entering camp. Hopefully, they can "ground" it better next season.
  6. How do I get a cape on a bobcat for my next wilderness story.
  7. Way to go, Bats!!! +1 Thanks guys I promise... by my 10000th post, I will have contributed something useful to these boards I'll have a Frozen Appreciation Thread in Watercooler for you to contribute to by then.
  8. I don't like what's happening at CBS with this, but its an expensive show and they made a point earlier with Melissa McCarthy's long-running sitcom.
  9. I agree. the first one was the best, and it all went downhill from there. I have the same thoughts on the franchise as well. It's nothing to do with having the ability to watch a robot movie either. It went from something with a heart (a boy with his first car can get the girl and save the world) to outright product placements and a mentality only needing noisy 2nd unit shots to move the story.
  10. Batman: Bad Blood (three out of four stars) I have vowed to take a half a star from all DC animated productions if I ever see one fart joke, a dance off or hear Sean Astin play Shazam. This one didn't use any of those items, so it automatically gets a half a star as a lifeline. Though despite being an engaging Bat movie, sadly it has a bit too many heroes in it. Mainly, a new one called Nightwing, which felt like a DC answer to Iron Man. His main power, the ability of convenience of being in the right spot to use his powers. I think they really didn't need him. There might have been a little suspense during the climax. But, other than that it would have been a more solid movie to end the Damian trilogy. Instead, we want to back things up to start it "Under The Red Hood" and end it with "Batman vs. Robin (its Skyfall, I guess.) Making this one an unnecessary "Spectre" one-off. Interesting and welcome character addition before the credits, yet so unexplained with no build up it felt more like a "stunt" at first. 11. ...and I want to sincerely mention that I appreciate all your counter-points to this discussion so far. I hope that sounded right.
  12. Terrible, terrible disappointment. Just terrible. I was SO disappointed with this movie, I went to see it again... just so I could increase my level of disappointment. That actually worked with multiple viewings of The Phantom Menace in the theater. Yes I bet it did I only ever watched it the once... On VHS Technically, I only watched it once too. Went to the Midnight show and walked out in 20 minutes in disgust. Had another ticket for a couple days later during a matinee, so I sat through it to watch the much hyped "Duel of Fates" part. Took a girl who wanted to see it, but she didn't like the Gungan parts, so we snuck into The Matrix (when Neo was on the ledge.) I bought the Suncoast special edition Widescreen VHS and never opened it. I kept getting DVDs of this for stocking stuffers, that I would regift or just leave it in the magazine racks at laundrymats. I truly hate this movie. At the time funner sy-fy movies were playing The Mummy, innovative ones The Matrix, or better movies (Go) in general. I had a better time watching Pushing Tin than The Phantom Menace. Rant over.
  13. I was stalled at a little more than 5, , before the TV/Movie subforum. I never thought I would ever hit 10k.

  15. Congratulations. The book is beauteous. I think Jen has the ugiest CGC 9.6 #1 out there.
  16. Interesting tidbit that I had never heard. I am a man of faith, deeply Christian, and yet I never had anyone at our church or denomination recommend MoS. However, I would contend that the Christ like similarities of Superman were first heavily stressed in Superman Returns. In fact, I used sections of the movie in bible study lessons. While I think MoS continues some of those same ideals, they were not near as obvious as in the previous movie. From my perspective, there are no Christ-like similarities in MoS or BvS. As for Superman Returns, I'd have to re-watch it... There is confusion between "Christ-like" and "godlike" - note the lowercase "g". Superman being perceived as godlike is an established part of the mythos. Looking at the words in bold type above, I find it hard to believe with all the violence in MoS, it would be seen as "Christian friendly". The only time in the movie Superman turned the other cheek, it happened to be Zod's... Here is a screen shot from Superman Returns. No doubt certain imagery was used within that movie to relate Superman with Christ, not just a god. As to MoS and BvS, I think you are correct that the more obvious similarity is with Supes being a god-like figure, however, as a Christian I do see some more similarities with Jesus than other religious figures. (Except of course with some specific actions like, as you said, turning Zod's cheek. Btw, good one!) In Man of Steel, after Jor-EL tells him "You can save her Kal, you can save them all", Superman floats out of the Kryptonian ship with his arms outstretched and his legs together. I got this reference immediately, but was too afraid to bring it up here. I look foward to my one week suspension now.
  17. I envy you. I'm bidding now on a Frozen pic with Idina and Kristen Bell's signatures, but not CGC SS. I was close to bidding on those three Funko POP Vinyl Figures with her signature on them, but decided to get a more rare item like those limited dolls next time when one shows up. But, I'd like to get something Elphaba related someday too. I would love to get an Idina and Kristen sig CGC SS book someday myself. Good luck on your picture buy. I had no idea there was such a demand over Idina's full signature too.
  18. That's so cool! I love it. Loved Georgina in the part of Elsa. I just picked up CGC SS with Idina Menzel's signature myself.
