  1. I know I'm gonna sound old, but... I keep thinking Tom Holland, the director of the original Fright Night.
  2. Don't worry he only appeared the size of an ant. Looks like DC is ripping off Marvel's heroes, to promote its more non-revelant characters.
  3. He was never nominated for Best Director in Argo. He still won an Oscar for best picture for it. That`s close enough for me. Cruel Hollywood politics and all, I think if he won Best Director for Argo, I think he would never been involved in these DC movies. Even though Argo, Gone Baby Gone and The Town, were career redeemers. I've got to think Affleck realized he was never going to get to play in all the reindeer games with Academy voters. If he was even nominated and won, we most likely would be seeing a Oscar caliber regional production like the Charles Stuart murders (he would be an awesome Charles Stuart) another Dennis L. novel. That would make a good movie! Any info on a Stuart movie? Nope. Just the Ken Olin TV movie from the early 90's. In the 90's, thought Spike Lee would have JUMPED to do a movie about a police race war in Beantown. The stuff that happened on Mission Hill set the city back for decades. Buy 'Deadly Greed' on Amazon, it has post-Argo Ben Affleck written all over it.
  4. My biggest problems with any reboot is the "need" to retell the origin. I get it for new characters. But Superman, Batman, Spiderman? No need. Everyone knows them. Too bad he couldn't retell the his origin through another character in the movie. Not saying he needs a Robin, but it's one of the few things that worked as a thing to move the "story" in Batman Forever.

  6. First of all when I watch these I don't expect Vertigo or The 39 Steps type quality. There has been twenty pretty solid entries to this brand. Sadly, this is not a better one. After seeing no Shazam, I had high hopes this was going to be in the somewhat same league of Son of Batman. But despite the promise of strong voice over work by Farmiga, some sexy Starfire animation and a pretty complex plot involving Raven, it degenerated into random cliches, a Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen dance off between Damian and Beast Boy and a fart joke hurting it's chance to be taken even remotely seriously. Besides rushed animation in spots, Jon Bernthal voice also seemed dial in. Probably a great one for the kiddies, but I don't see myself revisting this one anytime soon. Where has the always reliable DC Animated productions gone? Keep watching the end credits for the appearance of another Titan. 1. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns**** 2. 7. I picked up Justice League vs. Teen Titans. It has Taissa Farmiga's voice talent in it (maybe she plays Raven?), so I said what the heck even though I haven't bought Batman: Bad Blood yet. She was so good in The Final Girls, I figured I would follow-up on another one of hers tonight. I've been watching comedies "The Final Girls", "This Is The End" and "The World's End", so I figure I can squeeze this one in and keep an open mind.
  8. I love how there's a Batman & Robin hiccup in your DVD library (I have every comic movie even Jonah Hex and Catwoman ). You need to upgrade to the Director's Cut of Hellboy and the four disc Superman: The Movie. I plan on upgrading to both Batman and Superman series to the DVDs that contain all 4 movies on one disc (just to conserve space). I can't see spending more money on Batman & Robin, just to turn around and buy it again in a set. Sometimes Walmart puts out the Batmen in the two-disc sets for $4, with loads of documentaries and a commentary. It's really the only reason, I own bad ones like B&R. I literally ran out of spce with my comicbook collection myself. I'm gonna start weeding no-name ones like The Scribbler, Paperman, etc).

  10. I was fumbling through the channels last night and came across a curious movie. I guess I can regard this as the first Batman v Superman movie that came out 22 years ago. Both our DC childhood film heroes competing for a Wonder Woman (well, Geena Davis is pretty tall). Heck, Ernie Hudson is in it, so it can't be that bad. 12% on RT though.
  11. Riding on top of a submarine (Raiders), going against a tank with a horse and revolver (Crusade), using a railroad car track as a roller coaster (Temple of Doom), etc. The Indy character helps the ridiculousness of the plot mechanics, by playing it fairly straight with just a wink (the swordsman against the gun- Raiders or shooting 3 Nazis at once in a line- Crusade). Its just that we are not in that era of filmmaking anymore. That's only issue with all these lists of things not to change, I can see. You just can't do fun movies like this without "humanizing" your villains for international box-office reasons. The days of the evil-bumbling Nazis that Dr. Indy easily thwarts is long over. Its why Crystal Skull had so much trouble with its developing character arcs for its baddies. It bogged down everyone's storylines.
  12. I remember in the mid 80's, I thought it would have been cool if Indy got into an adventure with Nazis with his class on a field trip overseas, like some Greatest American Hero episodes did at the time. Cut me some slack, I was 10. Plus, I always thought it would be nice to see how cool and dangerous young adults in the mid 30's were compared to how they are as grandparents on the modern youth now. It would have been a better way of bringing in a youth audience if cast right (I never cared for If Looks Could Kill myself).
  13. An aged Cathy Lee Crosby just showed up on tonight's Inside Edition to remind us that she was the original Wonder Woman (the 1974 TV movie). That was literally it.
  14. I would be okay with that. The ending is just the end of Lucille pointing at the victim who we don't see who it is till next season. Exactly. Leave the fans wanting more. That should keep interest high over the summer. Nonsense! They'll want to shock and paralyze the audience for the summer before the fade out to get folks talking. Something very bad is gonna happen to a cast member. My money's on Lauren Cohan. I think she's ready to move on. She just opened a movie no one saw, I think? Anybody check her imdb page lately?
  15. I envy you. Most of the animated efforts you will discover for the first time are better than the ones in theaters. They make excellent counter-programming during the in-betweens of the live action ones. You're about watch B v S, check out Superman: Doomsday, after watching B v S, watch Batman/Superman: Public Enemies. Sometimes, even the lesser ones don't feel that awful. I guess I'll have to watch Batman: Bad Bood and Mask of the Phantasm to complete my DC checklist.
  16. Just finished JL: Gods&Monsters. A flawed, yet solid entry to the DC animated adventures. It held my interest enough until the end, but nothing I'm gonna remember after tonight. 17. I hear you. I bought Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance in Walmart's budget dvd bin. Just trying to help out in a little way myself.
  18. Rambo: First Blood Part 2 is a RT 28% movie. For 30 years, I always thought was a fun movie (James Cameron worked on the -script). We will see what the kids who watched this one says in three decades. I think it might be the same assessment, I made.
