  1. Assuming JB even intended it to be an Avengers cover. When was he doing Namor? Could just as easily been a rejected cover from that run, Coollines is who has slapped an 'Avengers' logo on the piece...
  2. Also, to be fair, they aren't pricing the piece as a published Byrne cover. It's overpriced for what it is, but it still isn't at that level. We can assume it was started as a cover concept, since JB was using the Marvel Cover paper of the time. For once, the cover dress is just fun window dressing.
  3. I generally try to be wave-off-able, assuming people communicate with me. Annual2 pages excluding.
  4. Just made my reservations. Bring yer MICRONAUTS!
  5. You must mean the ROM Miller cover, right? The one Micros page in today's auction sold.
  6. ...and yet, somebody snagged a fair Broderick Micros page a few weeks ago for only $150.
  7. If any boardies want to travel to the show and meet up, give me a shout!
  8. del Toro is having an exhibit of pieces from his personal collection at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Details here: https://new.artsmia.org/ I've read that there are examples of Comic OA present, but I haven't confirmed personally. When I do, I will post here. Others who may visit are welcome to post in this thread as well, if they wish.
  9. Yeah, I've paid more, but that was for a Golden page... But I concede it may have been excessive to persist. At that price point it was probably unlikely the underbidder was a dealer. There are collectors out there who specialize in Title Pages.
  10. Yes, but in my case it's obviously by design. Now, 'all my eggs in one basket' from a financial standpoint... is an entirely different question.
  11. Would not have guessed that the Michael Golden page would have been my least expensive purchase. Yoiks! Yesterday, I suppose one Golden page had a lot to compete with for attention, I suppose. But still...
  12. 940 lots in HA's Original Art, even with 2 days this auction is going to take forEVER. (Though I concede some of these might be BIN's or weeklys?) Is there a size limit for a HA auction?
  13. It's been confirmed he inked on the acetate and painted on the backboard. It's essentially a giant animation cel. Golden did four covers for Marvel's Micronauts using this technique. If anyone's concerned, you could contact Renee Witterstaetter, MG's representation. For what it's worth, I'm satisfied that this piece is authentic. Andrew
  14. Get a lawyer to draft a demand letter for him. Should be less expensive than starting off with full-blown legal proceedings.
  15. Can we get back on-topic, please? I was enjoying all the darkly legal talk.
  16. I have a question. Has anyone actually called them on the carpet - in person? At a show? If so, how did it go? Or is everyone still worried about burning a bridge to a prominent inventory, one whose depths have probably not been fully revealed? (Full disclosure: that would by MY reasoning, along with my general avoidance of needless confrontations)
  17. I think there are a few DOOM collectors out there, but Douglas Smith's DOOM Gallery is one of the most active and notable.
