  1. Another exclusive reveal in this article; this time, a never-before-seen Michael Golden page from MICRONAUTS #12 !
  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel that way! Outstanding art, but... ick! "Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself, I am large, I contain multitudes." -Walt Whitman
  3. Exclusive to this blog article - a never-before-seen vintage ROM SPACEKNIGHT cover! Andrew
  4. You really think ROM OA got thrown out? Ditko, maybe, who knows? But Sal? Nope. Sold, yes, but not chucked.
  5. Worst. Infinity. Gauntlet. Reference. Everrr.
  6. Congrats, hope you can pair with the Palmer inks someday!
  7. A little OT, but... Mile High Comics backs out of SDCC 2017
  8. Since I'm the OP I might as well weigh in. I confess to having a variety of feelings on the subject. In no particular order: Obviously, I must cop to 'having a dog in this fight.' I have multiple ongoing projects to complete books, some are public and others are... more subtle. Since opinion is divided as to the likelihood of success either way, I am proceeding with both, to see which might prove more fruitful. So far, public has been better. The story shared above gives an example of collecting behavior which is unacceptable. A collector putting a book together might feel some sort of ownership in missing pages by dint of the effort being put forward, but that's just an emotional reaction. As someone who is trying to but books together, I fight that entitlement instinct all the time. While most collectors here would likely feel some degree of empathy for another collector who has decided to tilt windmills in this fashion, it does not demand compliance. I'm sorry the above collector felt hounded out of keeping a gallery. I have my own worries coming from the other side, too. I am given to understand that most of the artwork for the Image version of MICRONAUTS #1 was sold by the penciller in one lot... except for the two pages I own. I have those two pages because the rest of the issue was deathly dull, and I wasn't terribly interested in putting out for the whole thing. There may come a time when the owner of the rest of the issue might approach me with a request for me to give up my two pages to complete the book, and I think I'd have to turn him down. They're framed and on my wall, and are the two best pages from the book. But I can't help but feel like a little bit of a hypocrite when I'm arguably asking others to make the same sacrifice for my collection. The way I've avoided feeling like a full hypocrite is to be absurdly generous (if I may say so) in my purchase or trade offers. The previous owner of the final splash page from Rom Annual 2 was friendly but unwilling to part with it (framed) but he relented when I offered the cover of ROM #2 in exchange. Expensive, but a win/win. I got the key splash from a book I'm trying to complete, and he upgraded his wall hanging to a noted early cover. Since then, further generosity on my part has paid dividends toward my goals. The strategy of delay ("Come back and talk to me when you're a lot closer") is admirable. I've heard it myself on a couple of occasions, and I appreciate it. It implies willingness to be flexible in the future, should that courtesy be warranted. It makes the collector have to show some commitment over time; proven sincerity on the part of the purchaser lessens the possibility of having to witness one's pages being sold off in a fit of pique to a third party. But it's ultimately not a short-term goal, and it's best to be viewed as a journey to be enjoyed.
  9. I've asked about that already. It seems they'd thought about it but decided against it. Probably privacy issues. Not unreasonable. (But I am curious about who's following me.)
  10. Lee, There's a 'Manage Watched CAF Galleries' option under your 'My Premium Preferences' function.
  11. I follow 38 galleries currently. I note 29 members are following my gallery. Like Brian, I generally follow galleries that I feel are likely to post pieces that are similar to my tastes and wants. Keeping an eye on the competition. I post comments when I am moved to, not when I am asked to. I appreciate pieces which are from my reading history, even if they're out of my collecting purview. So things like Byrne FF, Watchmen, Dark Knight, Killing Joke, Bolland Judge Dredd, early Marvel Star Wars, even the occasional Spider-Man might get a comment from me. I try my best to comment when I really have something interesting to say; if I don't at least amuse myself, I might not post.
  12. Heritage might also be willing to contact the underbidder on your behalf, probably using their 'Make Offer To Owner' feature so they can get their cut again. But you could possibly get most of your money back that way.
  13. Given the blatantly rabble-rousing nature of my question, I suppose I should take that ribbing with good humor. And I shall!
  14. Just trying to approach my search for the following page from a different angle. A fairly minor page, I've always assumed it was either: 1) In an X-Men collection (even though the X-Men are very small) 2) In a pile somewhere, with an owner who doesn't even know I'm looking for it. ...but it occurred to me that there might be some chance a Thanos collector might have it, as a minor page. Captain Marvel 6 pg 12.
  15. Exactly. In Vegas, they could even break the con up, segregate to Hollywood/Toys/Comics/Games.
  16. Looking for collectors of published art only, not commissions or con sketches. Thanks for any help, Andrew
  17. I'm talking about capacity. The one and only time I've attended SDCC was years ago, and I was admitted with a VIP pass thanks to a family member working for CNN. My abiding memory of the trip was walking past the enormous line of people who were waiting to be admitted, but not allowed due to Fire Code. Not the way I'd like my SDCC experience to go, waiting for hours in the sun, only to be let in with only an hour or two to try to take in the spectacle and try to accomplish anything. I concede things may have improved since then, but I suspect not. If Hollywood refused to go to Vegas, then yes. So long as the A-listers and producers are in attendance, then the fans will continue to flock. I didn't meant to hijack the thread. Apologies.
  18. The con needs to move to Vegas, a city which actually has the hotel and convention capacity to service a convention of that size.
  19. Heh. My post may have been a little vague. Y'see, I was playfully trolling for boardies to consider selling their Micronauts... to me. So, if you have any Micronauts pages you are interested in parting with, please let me know. In fact, I especially appreciate hearing about Micronauts pages people aren't interested in parting with.
  20. Do they bring these altered pieces to shows, or do they only try to peddle them online, where they have the advantage?
  21. Whatever page number which is printed by the letterer on the published portion of the art. (I've found it varies from book to book - page-count or story-count) If there isn't a published number, best judgement going by what's written in the margins by editorial.
