  1. I'm gonna go out on a Groot limb and say that not only will the movie be a big hit, but Groot and Rocket Raccoon will be the next thing in toys. Start stocking up in August for your kids' Christmas wish lists.

Everyone keeps saying Rocket is going to be huge with kids. Parents are OK with their kids watching and adoring a character with huge guns blazing a lot (killing)? I don't see how this would be OK for Saturday morning cartoons.

Parents are too busy enjoying their decriminalized marijuana and downloading pointless apps to care what their kids are watching. Rocket Raccoon will do just fine as a cartoon!

Some parents monitor what their kids watch like my wife and myself. However, a raccoon with guns doesn't bother me as much as the other stuff my son could watch that is inappropriate.

  2.

Well, it looks like Cap 3 could be set up for a search for the Winter Soldier but anything could happen to Cap before then to change the focus of his next feature.

The actor who played the falcon recently said that he hadn't received a call yet so looks unlikely that he'll be in Avengers 2.

It's entirely possible that WS could be in Avengers 2 but I wouldn't count on it.

Fury's eye patch removal and addition of glasses seemed to me to be motivated by a need to look different though I guess that it could also be taken as a symbolic gesture for having a new start (but Fury's character isn't usually one to be into symbolic gestures).

My bet is that Crossbones will feature in Cap 3.

Thanks and that's too bad they won't bring back Falcon....I think adding him to the Avengers would be a nice addition (even in a small way).

I like the whole Winter Soldier concept. It's a neat twist to bringing back a character that was pretty much left dead for decades. Kudos for Brubaker for coming up with it.

I'm curious what was so important in Europe for Fury and what Black Widow was going to do now that her cover is blown...

Damn, i'm getting into this stuff lately.

  3. I have a few questions after seeing the movie online again and was able to take some notes:

If Cap 3 is supposed to be Cap finding Winter Soldier (Bucky) because Cap turns Fury down going to Europe and says he first needs to take care of something...

Will Falcon be in Avengers 2?

He is not currently listed on imdb.com cast list, but the cast list is very much incomplete at this time, so it's still possible.

Will Winter Soldier be in Avengers 2 as Cap will have been looking for him I would imagine before they have to AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
He is not currently listed on imdb.com cast list, but the cast list is very much incomplete at this time, so it's still possible. He's a pretty cool character, so it couldn't hurt, but a lot is going on in that movie already.

What was Fury doing taking off the eye patch and wearing glasses? Just to look different?
    Going undercover.

They are obviously bringing back Crossbones. Wonder if it will be in Cap 3 or Avengers 2.

    Most likely just Cap 3.

He is not currently listed on imdb.com Avengers 2 cast list, but the cast list is very much incomplete at this time, so it's still possible. A lot going on in that Age of Ultron storyline, maybe he'll get an after credits appearance? He IS mentioned on the imdb.com Captain America 3 page: "Captain America and Falcon continue their search for Bucky Barnes while going head to head with a new foe, Crossbones.'

    Thanks and appreciate the discussion.,

As for Fury going undercover...seems a bit far fetched...not much difference between the patch and the glasses. But he was heading to Europe for some reason and wanted help. I wonder if Avengers 2 will have some of that carryover.

Interesting point about Crossbones being listed for Cap 3. If Cap does die in Cap 3...it won't be from Crossbones....it will be from something bigger...perhaps Thanos? For the battle in Avengers 3....

So much to speculate on and I love it. lol

  5.

Wanted to share the book I just got back from CGC. 109. Drawn by Jaime Jones pencils and Tony Kordos inks at MegaCon. It's a 1 minute later scenario. Maggie and Sophia mourning Glenn, sitting in front of the grave and Glenn rises from the ground and attacks Maggie. I thought it was a cool idea and went well with the actually cover. I know his brains were bashed in, but what if right? Well enjoy.

    Nice sketch Retro........and a 9.8 too

I agree. It's very cool and a 9.8 to boot!

I want to do a one minute later cover of a WD also. Something from the earlier issues. FSC here I come!

    On a different topic...

I've been thing about the next issue and it has to be a knockout or i'm going to be let down with the AOW arc...frankly because it wasn't AOW. We need to see some losses....big people going down. An uprising and a new direction.

It has to happen in my opinion. It's just...who will die?

    Discuss amongst yourselves.... :)

  6. MAJOR potential SPOILER alert regarding art after All Out War

    .

    .

    .

    .

Preview covers for issues 127 & 128 are showing a new female character with no sign of any previous known character. Rumors are the book may continue going forward with an entirely new cast, Kirkman has not ruled this out as a possibility. If true - there may be potential to grab a whole lot of major 1st appearances in the coming year.

Is it a good time for those of us who missed out on early TWD pages?

Or perhaps the book will jump the shark?

    Thoughts?

    Interesting....

I seriously doubt the entire cast in the comic will be killed off or eliminated.

  7. I am a fan of Superman and Batman and want DC to success also. As a comic fan, I want all these movies to rock!

I don't want to distract from the Captain America: TWS great discussions. But I would love to chat more in the Bv.S thread what it is you don't like about Man of Steel. I can't help but enjoy that movie each time it comes on.

Of course, it can always comes down to different appreciations of a movie. And that is okay.

    :foryou:

I'll check out that thread and post or will PM you. I agree...don't want to hijack this thread. :)

  8. Here is an unfortunate reality that comes with slabbing:

The item slabbed carries a premium solely because of that number in the upper left hand corner, especially at extremely high grades.

If you remove a 9.6 Amazing Fantasy #15 from its slab, it is no longer a $1 point whatever million book.

It doesn't matter if the book is sold 5 seconds after being removed from its slab. Once it is detached from that label, it loses a tremendous amount of its "value."

It can BE a $1 point whatever million book, IF it gets put back in a slab that says "9.6." And if, by chance, it ends up in slab that says "9.4", .the "book" has just lost 60% of its "value."

Even if it is exactly identical to when it resided in a 9.6 slab.

This is the madness of the ultra high grade market, but as long as rich people keep chasing labels, it will not change. There could be, and very likely are, HIGHER quality books in lower number slabs that are worth much less, for the sole and only reason that the label has a lower number on it.

:applause: pretty much sums it up.

Not really that insightful. All the labeling in the world won't make a subpar book "truly" a 9.8, nor will it keep what is a truly 9.8 book in a mistakenly-labeled 9.4 holder for very long, if the retail cost is a significant spread. Grading is done by humans, not computer, and is always going to be inherently flawed and subject to debate. But quality books that can stand up to careful scrutiny will find their value regardless of what the slab label says.

Can you explain the bolded part in more detai?

If I understand correctly, you are saying that a book will find it's value even if it's in a lower graded slab? I find that impossible to believe unless I am missing something.

If that 9.6 AF 15 was in a slab with a 9.4 label it would NEVER achieve the price of a 9.6 regardless of how strong a book it is. The label will dictate the value over the actual condition of the book...every day of the week.

  9. This just in from CGC from MegaCon. Blank 109 sketched 9.8 Wish I would of taken a picture of the sketch before hand, but was just to busy. lol The artist were really cool guys and they had a cool cartoony style to them sorta reminded me of TM. I had them sketch a re-imagining of the cover for 109 with Maggie and Sophia and "?". But won't reveal what, until I get the book in hand. (p.s. It brought me up in rank too lol )

    Nice! Congrats

  10. Does anyone know if the Volume 5 omnibus will be coming out soon?

Volume 4 collected up to issues 96. So we have 97-126.

Typically each volume is 25 issues I believe.

They should be coming out with one soon I'd imagine.

    Thanks!

id say they'd like to sell through some more TPB and HC's before releasing Omni #5

You could be right, thanks. I'd think those will sell the same anyway because the Omnibus customer is different than those buying the TPB and Compendiums...I only buy the Omnibus and not the trades. I like having the larger set.

  11. DC needs to step it up with this next Batman/Superman movie or they are done.

I bet that is some of the conversation taking place at Warner. You can't build out a successful franchise if it is hit-or-miss whether or not each movie is going to be financially sound and assist in building out the DC brand further.

Man of Steel opened the door. The next movie could close it just as fast if it fails to meet expectations. I just have a feeling Warner senior management won't let this one fail. Especially when the CEO of Warner personally gets involved, including setting up the meeting with Dwayne Johnson to get his commitment on at least one film project.

They must be fully aware of the implications for a failure on this next movie. So much of their franchise is riding on this being a success. I think Man of Steel opened the door but not with a slam but with a slight push. lol

I am not a fan of MoS overall and have a hard time watching it again. Some scenes were great but as a whole...it was a rehash of so much i've already seen. Quite a let down actually.

With that said, I'm not alone in that assessment and if this next movie is not a homerun for DC, they are blowing billions away.

The CEO and entire management team must know this but I would think they know this on every movie being made. They had to know that MoS was super important (see what I did there?). :)

  12. Saw the other day and really enjoyed it! Picked up the first trade for Brubaker's Cap run and am excited to read it.

Really surprising for me as Captain America has always seemed pretty boring.

I felt the same way for years....Cap was boring to me. I didn't read the Brubaker story when it came out and disregarded the whole Cap is dead thing as hype. But, I have to admit it's excellent writing and I really enjoyed the story.
