  1. I loved this movie! Halfway through it I said to myself "man that is Robert freakin Redford in a comic book movie! So Awesome!"

AGREED. Loved seeing him in this. True legend.

Great to see him in the movie as he is a great actor...but I thought he aged horribly. He just looks bad overall....to me at least

The dude is 77 - he looks pretty good for 77. That's almost 80.

His skin started doing something strange as he aged but he's always looked great other wise. He was probably the biggest stud of his era. The Brad Pitt / Johnny Depp of the 70's and he still looks decent.

Anybody ever notice that he and Brad Pitt look like father / son?

True, he is getting up there so i'll give him that. But, yes his skin just looks bad.

Regardless, he was a stud back in the day and women loved him.

  2. Not a clear video but good enough

    Enjoy

    There's an HD version online.

:applause: Now that's what Marvel should've developed into a TV series. (thumbs u

Far enough removed from present-day continuity for great writing and character development. Could've been highly rated and long running, ala Nikita or Alias.

Nice find! Thanks and I completely agree. She could carry a show on her own.

  3. I thought Cap #1 was near perfect too.

I said this earlier but every time I think about the movie it strikes me how much it felt like a Raiders of the Lost Ark movie. I think it was awesome.

    And Hayley Atwell.

    Hayley Atwell is fantastic :cloud9:

Have you seen the Agent Carter 1 shot on the Thor 2 Blu ray? (I think it's on that one)

    Worth the 20 minutes!

I hear they are possibly planning an Agent Carter spinoff show.

  4. I thought Cap 1 was perfect to be honest. The pace, the period piece, the origin, the red skull and Dr Zola, setting up Bucky, etc.

I've watched it about 10 times now and I enjoy it each time.

I guess "perfect" is a bit strong as I could live without the USO scenes but it does build the Cap character for what he did for his country and why he yearned to help.

Regardless, I love both these movies and I can't wait to have Cap 2 on Blu ray so I can do a Cap 1, Avengers, Cap 2 Marathon night

    :)

  5. Just to provide a little more background information.

I dealt with Frank (F Palma) and his brother Greg years ago. His brother Greg literally stole close to $30,000 in comic books from me. (We have lists written up, signed contracts, he signed over the deed to what turned out to be his mother's car as collateral) I gave him books to consign in his comic store, never got paid for them, and a short time later his comic book store was literally boarded up and closed with no explanation. When I went to Greg's house he refused to return the books, but I would occasionally get phone calls from friends in the area that he was driving around selling the books I consigned to him at odd hours out of the back of his car. I was never paid, and the books were never returned. I have since been approached by others who have told me Greg did the same thing to them both before and after I met him. I also found out later that Greg has a relatively long police record outside of comics as well. He went so far as to threaten Mafia connections paying a visit to my house if any of this information was ever taken to the police. To keep himself protected from lawsuits he kept all of his assets in his Wife's name.

To what extent his older brother Frank was involved (particularly in helping sell the book afterwards) is unclear. I heard a few things, but to be fair to Frank, I won't try to speculate on anything I don't know to be fact.

While I was giving books to Greg to consign for me, we also bought one comic book collection together. A few books from a older gentleman who was a private collector in the area who was not well-known. Greg also introduced me to a friend of his, who later went on (allegedly, according to the Police/FBI - all I know about it is what was on the local news) to break into this private collector's house. This collector was beaten to death during the robbery when all of his comics were stolen.

When I saw the Palma Brothers posting books for sale on the boards my heart about jumped into my throat. Anyway, everyone is welcome to do business with anyone they want to. But I felt obligated to post my experiences.

Above was posted in a now locked thread. Just wondering how does someone get away with that. I would be camped out on their front lawn till I got my books back or started taking pieces of his house, car, landscaping etc... as payment.

Quite a post from a trusted board member. I think it's fair to say you'd have to be nuts to deal with the Palma Brothers....or they'd have to be pretty cool books at a good price.

That's a horrible story and I definitely won't do any biz with them. Crazy.

  6.

So after some back and forth with Mark. I am pleased to present my first WD cover.

I am so happy with this purchase. Rick, Andrea, Maggie, Negan, and Kal. 4 Major characters. Very pleased with the large art and that it's all done by Adlard. What's cool is it's kinda what's going on in 125 even though it's 124 cover, minus Kal. Anyways here ya go. Thanks Mark for working with me and making this happen.

    Awesome bro!!! Congrats

  7. I don't know him and really am not on either side. but when he posted and mark 1 then put up the "ill take it" it was instant . He had no time and the book had sold from the post above. He should definitely clarify his rules but i think it was just inexperience and not shady ! He got slammed real quick with offers and PM's and mine went unread for a while so he probably was not living on the boards. I think the way he responded to mark was a little rough and communication could have been better and he will probably learn from this sale and get better.

It wasn't instant. I can't quote the thread now because of the lock. At 7:25 pm the seller posted there was 1 left, and Mark1 posted :takeit: at 5:31 a.m., about 10 hours later.

This is true. However, when the seller responded to me he said the book was sold over the weekend. Which is impossible if he listed the book for sale at 7:25pm on Monday night. hm

I've calmed down since that incident. It's clear the guy has no idea how to sell here. Sure, he might have sold each copy of a hot book but let's see him try to sell that way with books that aren't the flavor of the month.

By the way, the Cap #6 comic (Variant or not) is plentiful in 9.8 (50 and 70 respectively) and i'm willing to bet more copies will be coming out of the woodwork with the popularity of the Winter Soldier movie. We aren't talking 4 digit production runs. More like 40,000-50,000 print runs.

It's a plentiful book. I picked the wrong time to buy but that's the story of my collecting life (most of the time). However, I did have TOS 50 (mandarin), 52 (Black Widow), 57 (Hawkeye) and 75 (1st agent sharon carter and Batroc) before all the movie hype. So, I'm doing okay on having the movie keys....
