troydivision1 replied to RegistryAdministrator's topic in CGC Registry
I would like to have two scores looked at - Tank Girl #1 9.8 recently sold for $760 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tank-Girl-1-CGC-9-8-White-Pages-1st-US-appearance-of-Tank-Girl-KEY-ISSUE-L-K/223721031670?hash=item3416d007f6:g:8aIAAOSwovFds3C7 Deadline #1 6.5 recently sold for approximately $700 https://www.ebay.com/itm/DEADLINE-1-CGC-6-5-1ST-FULL-APP-TANK-GIRL-BRIAN-BOLLAND-DAVE-ALLEN-INTERVIEWS/113838414866?hash=item1a814c5c12:g:ymUAAOSwkGldQg6S Thank you in advance. BAM! Comics in North Miami circa late elementary (grade) thru middle school. Originally across a side street from our local Publix. Mom went grocery shopping, I went comic shopping. Only rule was I had to be back in time to help bag the groceries. Most formative memories of that place - They had a lots of Tank Girl stuff and it helped shaped my reading experience on what older comic fans read. (They were actually kind of jerks to customers / fans...they once called me out for buying Liefeld's run on New Mutants comics when they came out)

Quick question for the group - Similar to the "Current Turnaround Times At CGC" thread, what have you found to be the wait time for registry requests? -
$200 store credit what can I buy to double it in 3-5 yrs?
troydivision1 replied to amphoman's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Judging by your list...NM #98 and silver foil Action #1 gave it away...I can guess the store you're talking about. They now price books via eBay using sold listings. (The raw NM 98 for $325 is more than a joke.) Gone are the glory days of buying books priced via guide. Especially with the 50% sales happening every 6 months. You'll only get the jump on them the day that news breaks; even then you'll be competing against anyone else. -

Woo-hoo! Thank you! -
Started this as project after I got back into collecting after a big move and a few 'off' years. Decided what were my Top 50 slabs around December. Everything else could and would eventually go on eBay (or donated). Repurposed (consolidated?) the monies from multiple eBay sales this year into a handful of CGC books. These newly acquired CGC books have now replaced some of the OG 2018/9 Top 50. Rinse, repeat, hanuka matata.

Fantastic idea! It would be wonderful for something like this to be created, nurtured and flourish within the community. The added benefit (and value) for past, present and future signature series enthusiasts (buyers and dealers alike) would be immeasurable.

Thank you so much for responding and also pardon the lack of clarification on my part in my initial post. What I had initially meant to ask was for boardies to provide their process on how they determine value of any rare / one-of-kind books (that they own) when there is no comparable sales data available. (again for insurance purposes, not resell) An example of a book I have that I can't equate a value for is Parker: A Portfolio of Word and Pictures 9.8 signed by Darwyn Cooke. I have other examples, but chose this an extreme due to the fact that this one can not be replaced / replicated.

Howdy, I figured I'd reach out to SS brain-trust in hopes of finding an answer to the question of determining value for rare SS books. I've used the handy search function and found a thread (from around) 2010 with hearty discussion of value as a topic, but not from an insurance / claim perspective. Whilst I may believe my one-of-a-kind book is priceless because the person who signed it has passed away. An insurance company may prefer being able to quantify their payout. Also, if anyone has ever had to file a claim for a rare or one-of-a-kind book - how was your experience? Thank you in advance.

troydivision1 replied to Brandon Shepherd's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Just arrived...very happy... (never owned a 4th print) -
Great buyer. Fair offer. Paid quickly. Happy to add to the collection. Thank you!

Apparent - Slight (P) off white to white pages Tear seals to cover, spine splits sealed to cover, cover reinforced The book was worked on by Matt and Kenny a few years ago. We discussed the level of work / cost vs ROI with restored books. It was decided to push to maximum 'Slight' with an estimated grade of 4.5

This thread (and the multiple WTB posts) made me realize I never posted my copy on myslabbedcomics... That has been corrected.
