  1. This is actually a great looking comic except for the obvious flaw at the staple. Cover is detached. 1/4" spine split at bottom. I think I can clean it up a little and a press should make it look much nicer.
  2. How often do you UK collectors see the older US content items like this? I recently bought a "lot" of interesting Fawcett and other items that came out of a barn in the UK. These are three of them that are similar. I was expecting black & white on the inside but it's all in color. I'm guessing there's not a lot of these around any more. GCD says 1940s. They're smaller than normal comic size.
  3. Um.... no graders notes are listed (maybe they haven't entered them yet)
  4. That's awesome, thanks for posting. I may need to keep an eye out for that comic. Great cover.
  5. I get the gimmick/hype thing for a cover or maybe one panel (like a "reveal" at the end of a story where bandages are taken off a face), but there are 17 panels in this story with the gimmick. Maybe, because of how close this comic was to when the Code started, it was a jab at Wertham and how stupid the code was.
  6. Note: In the first panel of the story the editor put a box at the bottom that says.....
  7. A friend of mine was listing his HOM 32 on ebay and noticed something weird in one of the stories. In the story "Diary of a Nightmare" a Mr Hyde type of character has had his face censored throughout the entire story. What's up with this??? The comics code didn't appear on HOM until issue 36. Was DC censoring itself because of pressure??? Maybe the art had been finished for the story and they made a quick decision to censor out the face of the character? Anyone know what the explanation is on this issue? Here's some pages from the story in question...
  8. Is CGC upstream or downstream from the Levee?
  9. My "Poor Man's Action 1" is the Brazilian Action reprint that can be found in 1938 Gazetinhas comics. I unfortunately don't have any of the Superman pages, but I have the full Zatara, Chuck Dawson, Pep Morgan, & Sticky Mitt Stimson stories in Gazetinhas 446 - 473 (each issue has 1-1/2 pages of each story) , plus the last page to Action 1 found in Gazetinhas 456. Some come with nifty covers like the Zatara & Pep Morgan shown here. Stack em all up and you have..... a "Poor Man's Action 1"
  10. Got this back today. It's hard to see in the 1st photo, but It's like it's wedged into the slab which has rippled it quite a bit. I think they needed to trim the sides of the inner well a little more.
