  1. I know they are horrible pics, but I think Nik would be proud of the black covers that I've accumulated in the last couple of months.
  2. Monstro, that's a great start to the thread, let's get the black covers at the top of the heap  Jim
  3. It's not a secret that Nik's favourite books are Marvel Picture Frame books, especially all the black colour covers. I wanted to start this thread as an honour to him, as it was he who turned me on to them a few months ago, when I was looking for something to collect between my Timely purchases. I'll post some more books over the course of the weekend. Jim
  4. Look, it is sad. But it is also sad when I PMd Rich the day after I received the book, pointed out what I found, he READ the PM, and didn't respond. In Rich's mind, he may have thought it was just a common defect. But then when I called CGC Monday and sent a note to Rich what Gemma stated, that is when I received a response back via PM. Let's not confuse that fact as Rich stating we had steady communications is a confusion on his part. Seeing a seller read a note like that and never got back within the day sends the wrong signals. Dude...seriously??? What if he was reading the PM and all of a sudden the phone rang and there is a family emergency? What's he supposed to do PM you back before rushing to the hospital? Rich ISN'T Wal Mart, he's one guy trying to sell a few books. The fact that he has a Wal Mart type return policy by accepting a slab back and offering a refund is above and beyond already, you jumped the gun, admit it and apologize. Jim
  5. What are the odds it goes for more then that tomorrow? Jim
  6. Great book, which also happens to be Doc Watsons birthday book. Jim
  7. Some people have asked me where all the White Mountain money went too, so here is some of the peds I have picked up in the past few months. D Copy (from the first, nicer batch) Detroit Trolley copy Pennsylvannia San Francisco and another Penn Jim
  8. Incredible book, Jim Thanks Ang...things have changed in my collecting world since you were around last...Timelys all the way Jim
  9. Wow! That is a killer book Jim Did he upgrade??? It's the highest in the census and the next is a 9.0 so I don't think so. I think because he truly loves the "fat boys" if I pester, hound and throw a fit he'll throw me a bone (his non fat boy castoffs) every once in a while to shut me up and gets to keep his core collection intact. Jim
  10. This book is currently in transit thanks to an outstanding Gentleman that hails from Houston, Texas It'll be an amazing addition to my small collection. It also makes me appreciate how special Gold really is Jim
  11. I know it is referred to as the "Poor Mans" MMC #9, but I like to think of it as the "Smart Mans" MMC #9...it's just a better cover, for a tenth of the price (thumbs u Jim
  12. Is not shaving a basketball ritual as well? I guess I stole the idea from my Hockey heritage and now have applied it to Basketball. Jim
  13. I bet your unedited post would have been funnier . . . Spelling my name is getting difficult these days Jim
  14. I think he is in Toronto on Two week for a Con I forgot about that, Guest of Honour I believe, I`ll make sure I mention it to him, anything for a fellow `Heel Jim
  15. Headed to Detroit in a couple of hours to enjoy this weekends festiviites and witness history firsthand. And no I haven't shaved since Selection Sunday, and don't intend to until Tuesday morning Jim
  16. If it's any consolation Scott...the Heels are bringing home a National Championship in a few days and that'll make all the pain go away Jim
  17. Congrats Casey...I'm glad you and Doc both reap the benefits, you obviously get a much superior book and Doc gets your cast off. Jim ...and you're getting to be a pain in the ass.
  18. Congrats Casey...I'm glad you and Doc both reap the benefits, you obviously get a much superior book and Doc gets your cast off. Jim
  19. No edge tanning and no interior cover haloing. Just three small impressions along the spine that neither break color nor paper. Bob: That's not what the scan shows, looks like some major tanning/staining issues. Jim
  20. Well it proves one thing...that you don't know how to apologize when given an opening (a sorry here, really would have gone along way) and secondly it proves that karma is a beeyotch. Jim
  21. Maybe it's possible that Penny removed himself from the PM thread, kind of like what he did to me last week, when he PMed me asking a question and I took time out of my family vacation to answer him and he removed himself from the thread 52 minutes later. I spent half an hour formulating a response from my Iphone and by the time I hit the submit button he was gone. Don't ever waste my time like that again Bro. Jim
  22. Yeah, it's just a Cr-Ow but next thing you know you're collecting: Not that there's anything wrong with that God I hope not Jim
  23. You're a lucky man cause I need an 11. Very nice book. R. Thanks Roy but you have 8 or so of the ones before it and I don't have any...so let's call it a draw Jim
