Because not all 1.5s are the same.

And that’s why God gave us eyes and a mind, so we can decipher for ourselves what 1.5’s we like better!!!!

Green label was not the smartest marketing idea ever, nor was posting a 5.5 Hulk #1 and showing it as a 9.2 label in your marketing campaign.  Of course neither was no inner wells, or posting pictures of Paul holding a book without gloves on when the entire IG world was beeyotching about getting horrible grades due to “fingerprints” but sometimes mistakes are made!!!!!

I'll buy all your mega keys that look as nice as the IH1 for 7.5 grade prices.  It may have what you might consider prominent flaws for a 9.2 but the front cover looks like it was printed yesterday.

The general consensus was the book was a 6.5/7.0 max and NOBODY can understand the point of this giant marketing mistake on CGC's part.  When people start getting back there 6.5's and then take them to the booth and say they look like the 9.2 you have advertised as a 10 foot wall display, you are asking for trouble!!!

I'm just trying to figure if I have bought stuff before

    Are you across from RR?

Not sure who RR is.  When you walk in, we'll have the first three tables against the right wall, not the ones beside the bar.

We will have three AF 15's on our wall, because as good as Eric is at buying them, selling them is a different story.  :baiting:

    Look forward to meeting you.

Yes.   And perhaps before we concoct any conspiracy theories, it would be helpful for you to know that I turned down a higher offer (105k) from a single collector I've know for close to twenty years who has nothing to do with any of that?

I chose the lower offer because one offer came with promoting the hobby at large, and one didn't, so I chose the lower offer to promote a hobby I care about, but make no mistake that I was getting six figures either way to let it leave my house.    I'm not sure why people love conspiracy theories so much ;)

As for Danielle, perhaps a pm would draw less attention to info being public if what you're trying to protect her from info being public.    I've texted Adam but in the meantime if you could delete that part of your post, it would be helpful.

Btw Jim, still into White Mountains?

(as an aside, the white mountain OO/hoarder had a few valuable sealed NES games so there are a few 'white mountain' NES games).

I have removed what you have asked me to.

  5. That article makes it seem that video game collecting and video grading is a new phenomenon when that couldn't be farther from the truth.  This piece is an advertisement for WATA disguised as an article.  The first person to congratulate the article and it's participants in this thread is even a member of "Wata Advisory Board"

If you are okay with the $101,500 Super Mario Bros cartridge sale, well that is totally up to you.  Just let it be known that the seller of that cartridge is a member of the "WATA Advisory Board", then it was graded by WATA and then it was sold to a consortium of "collectors" who are also on the "WATA Advisory Board".  You can take that for whatever it is worth.

    Was it 2007 or 2008?

Nik was actually the reason I found out about these forums. He invited me over from eBay when a book I was selling was being discussed.

I think it was at that WW Chicago show that everyone really met everyone for the first time. It was like a 'coming of age' movie where we weren't just faceless avatars anymore and became real people for the first time.

Man, it's been a long time.

    Nik is missed.

And thankfully greggy missed me (athough I would have caught you if I could have, buddy )

Roy...it was 2007, that’s when we all first really met at the Courtyard.  2008 was the first Greektown dinner.  When was the year Beyonder came to Chicago with us?  Was it 2009 Christopher?

My favorite Nik memory was WW Chicago '08. Nik, Arex, and Danny arrived together for that con. Nik and Arex were like a comedy team. They made me laugh that entire show, usually by ripping on Danny lol

Arex would call Danny "Elf" all the time, because of his Nightcrawler avatar, even though Danny was about three feet taller than Arex. :roflmao:

One of my most cherished moments at any comic convention was that last breakfast a few of us had with Nik. He had been complaining about headaches and talked about going to the doctor. That morning is more cherished to me than the first Greek town dinner at WWC

Jim mentioned earlier in this thread about all the good times we had as a group, but things have never truly been the same since his passing.

You guys were in Charlotte, Drew and I were in Philly and Doc was already pizzed at me for not coming to Charlotte.  If I could do it all over again, I would have been in Charlotte.
