  1. Lord, I have to figure out what I want to send in this weekend, and I'm overwhelmed on who & what books would be good choices. I think I'm going to submit for Perez, Claremont and Miller. Crain and Cates would be secondary choices, but I'll probably wait on them for another time. Now, what books for Perez, Claremont and Miller.... I was going to submit an Astonishing Tales 25 for Perez, but I think I'd only have a chance of a 9.8 on that book by going through an outside presser like Impressive Comics. So I think I'd rather shoot for the 9.8 with Impressive, than what I think would be a guaranteed lower grade with Perez's sig on it through CCS. Bummer. Oh, the choices to figure out in the next 48 hours.....
  2. Art Adams Mike Zeck Jim Shooter I was considering Robert Kirkman, but he's still young and expect I'll have many more opportunities for him, so I went with Shooter as I'm a big LoSH fan.
  3. I'd been wanting a HG copy of this book for a while, so thrilled to get my hands on it. I just love the oddball pairing of these two brands:
  4. I actually remember that! I saw that as well and got very excited for 5 minutes thinking I had the next TMNT 1 in my collection. Stupid stupid CVM price misprints!
  5. Received my books today! 4 'Todd McFarlane' and 12 'T. McFarlane'. I'm not surprised, having been signed in the latter days of the event when his hand was probably beyond cramped. Made one color signature request (green pen on the Spawn 1), but he ignored it. Oh well, at least I asked. I'm still thinking several of these 9.6 grades should be 9.8, so I'll probably send back in for another press and grade out of curiosity once the potential frustration from the grading team simmers down. And I'm really confused by the 9.2 grade ASM: Skating on Thin Ice book. That cover still looks perfect to me -- sharp corners and no spine tics / bends. Must be something wrong on the inside. Wish there were graders notes!
  6. So wait, the only reason they refunded it was because you called in? Or they automatically refunded before you called?
  7. Maybe these early auction guys are just getting rid of their low-graded copies at whatever price they can recoup before the market is really flooded over the next couple weeks. Good situation for anyone who simply wants any ol' McFarlane signed book. Outside of the top 5-10 submitted books though (looking at you Spawn 1 and ASM 300, etc), if someone is targeting a specific book in 9.8, I don't expect they'll get much of a deal, if any. Like I'd love a copy of a signed 9.8 Wizard 1 or Marvel Tales (any number), but I'm not expecting I'll find any good deals.
  8. You had a $20k+ book just....SITTING. ON. YOUR. BOOKSHELF.
  9. Yeah, it's more 'post-Copper' to me, not Modern any longer. The series ended over 15 years ago, for pete's sake!
  10. I looked at the grades, and honestly, I feel a bit let down. Not terribly so, but my excitement has been dampened. I'm somewhat ok at determining what will be a 9.8 and what won't. I felt like all the books I sent in were strong candidates for 9.8, especially after a pressing. None had spine tics or bends at all. That's what I look for with my amateur eye. I'm getting back 7 9.8s, 8 9.6s, and 1 9.2. Granted, I only really look over the covers, not the insides really. But this is the worst 9.8 ratio (less than 50%) that I've ever received with a submission, including before when I didn't even have books pressed. I'll see what they look like when I get them back. If there are suddenly obvious spine tics, then I'll just chalk it up to Todd leaning heavily on the books while he signed them, which is a bummer. If I still don't see anything wrong with them, then I'm considering sending some of the 9.6s back in later for a re-press / re-grade, just out of curiosity, once the stress of this marathon of McFarlane grading has worn off of them.
  11. Holy cow! I didn't think such a thing existed!
  12. Holy cow! Now one of my groups is Finalized / Shipped! That all went quickly today!!! I'm afraid to look....
  13. I would actually be curious to see the notes on a 1.5 grade.
  14. Unfortunately, at this point, the postman is completely fed up with all these thousands of McFarlane packages shipping out...
  15. Oh! My statuses just changed to 'Grading / Quality Control' as well!
  16. That seems like a long time for Grading / Quality Control. Not a good sign for those of us still Scheduled for Grading. Bleh. Guess I still have a couple weeks at least to wait. Dang.
  17. The date on my 12/6 Received books updated to 1/27 yesterday, and this morning status updated from 'Received' to 'Scheduled for Grading'. (My Declared Value never changed, so I guess my estimates were good enough.)
  18. I love the Marvel Tales covers. I sent in 227, 234-235. Cover 234 is badass, plus it guest stars Morbius!
  19. My 'Received' date just updated from 12/6 to 1/27. Progress!
  20. Yeah, I'd bet you're right. In their haste, the labels for your two books appear to have been switched. Makes you wonder how often that happens. I would call them on Monday and explain the situation. They may ask you to ship them back and they'll take a look and rectify? Any time I've heard of a mistake being made (not often mind you), they've been real good about making it good again. Another reason I like CGC.
