  1. 1 day show that is right beside you sounds like it was great then overall and if I had the same type show I would continue to do it as well! I've bought a few books just to have them at the booth and with very small margins so wasn't sure if you had some stock like that or not. Of course it doesn't always have to be about pure profit (downsizing etc). Keep with the bigger books, when one of the one day show started I was one of the few that had more than 5 slabs...guys didn't know much about them or the premium of a 9.8 vs a 9.6 vs a raw nm (which I think hurt at first because they would see my price of a 9.8 slab for $100 and walk away knowing full well they could get a raw copy across the room for $10...now I have regulars looking to see what new slabs I bring. Of course some will never get it, just like they will never get why they can't buy an unrestored AF15 for guide prices...but guide this...guide that.
  2. Was this a 1 day or 2 day con (I think it was 2 but forget) Don't get discouraged by the lack of wall books not moving (did guys ask to see them at least? maybe didn't bring coin for those types of purchases.) Do you take cc? If not maybe look into getting square or similar (I don't do a ton via CC but have had guys drop 4 figures at our booth when we do and others don't). What would your replacement cost be of your books you sold ($700 for 2 days isn't too bad but if your into those books for $500 all of a sudden making only $100 each day for you and the wife might not be as great as you expected), very few consider this (small margin books might look good on paper but all of a sudden a $1500 hulk 181 sale where you've only made $150 on isn't that cool if you do $2000 for the weekend including that sale. Set up looks great! Very common saying and it often holds water (of course exceptions apply) but cosplayers don't have pockets (they don't spend money).
  3. Anyone know anything about ticket sales? Force was already out by now and last I heard was Nov 7 and that came and went.
  4. I do have money left but not for buying comics right now I'm holding the money in case the harambe comics backfire Yup and instead of buying books you can move quickly (for profit) you continue to play the lottery buying books at full/above gpa and hoping that after some future event you make 30%. You would be wiser to buy a hulk 181 and wait the same 6 months and you would prob make more.
  5. I have very little money left so I'm going to buy books I need to hold for months hoping and praying that they will take off
  6. So buying a book under market and you can't sell it under market so your solution is to buy books OVER market and wait for the market to catch up...hopefully...one day...after an announcement or trailer...or something like that. Sense you have made much of. No the idea was to buy the comic under gpa by at least half but that didn't work out. Also this is black panther's 2nd app we're talking about here which is currently undervalued and 1st app of Klaw. No mess it didn't work out. Did someone hold a gun to your head and say you have to buy this book or else? So what if its currently undervalued. You are playing the same game you were playing last buy. A lottery game that ST would "increase" or that DV3 would "increase" you have to hold these books for MONTHS without ever being able to put them on the market.

  8. I was just about to post the exact same thing. Jim instead you texted it to me
  9. Personal or to Flip? Did you pull an ASM 129 8.5/8.0 mistake again?
  10. On a consistent basis I don't have a list like other people buy I just buy what's hot a very rarely a non hot key for a good price. How was what you paid a good price? How is it a hot key? I wasn't talking about 157 I was talking about in general So why did you buy 157??? It clearly is a lottery purchase. Darth Vader 3 lottery purchase I forget some of your other recent purchases other than the presale of a presale. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to print off a list of a few hundred books in alphabetical order (hell add pictures to the list to make it easier) and put that in a binder. If you don't know Jesse in the area you will eventually. He went to a shop in our area and pulled out 5 copies 6 months ago of Omega men 3. He sent them all to be graded and they all came back 9.8. He paid $5 + tx for the books (yes he paid a $1 a book) and he instantly could have made about $150 on them if he wanted...or he knew what a 9.8 looked like, graded them and is now going to make about $1000. This was only 1 of his buys but its doable in the area if you work for it. Yeah but isn't that doing exactly what you're tell me not to? Going after hype books? Or is this ok because he's doing it the smart way? The name sounds familiar though. Omega men 3 has been a solid $20 book for years. Its now a $40 book. The smart way...how can you not see the difference? He paid $1 for a $20 book. He can take that $1 book home tonight and sell it and make money You paid $20 for a book that you CAN'T take home and sell for more than you paid. I paid 13.52 for it but yes I do see the difference but I wanted to ask and make sure I got it right.

  14. Gabe why do you keep playing the lottery??? (you probably don't know what I'm getting at so I'm going to spell it out).
  15. This is like an advent calendar each time there is a new post its like getting a candy
  16. If I knew he just needed to have this book so bad, I would have just mailed him one out for free. Gabe you gotta stop wasting your money. Jim I've got a need for a book that bad and yet you've never offered it to me...
  17. Raw/Grade? Graded/Grade? Complete? Coverless? Did you go out and get candy last night? Raw and complete about a 2.5/3.0 and no I wasn't allowed to get candy. Personal or for resale? Says who

  19. That's a really nice one for the price!! Wonder if it will be reported to GPA ? Its on gpa with the 18 percent premium as of right now Don't know about this one, but in a past auction I drove over and picked up my wins and saw other people there doing the same. Bidding through their site was a 13% BP, but a 3% discount for paying cash reduced it to 10%. I don't know whether that's still their policy. I suppose GPA is unable to figure out who pays the full BP and who doesn't. All Purchases by Invaluable/Auction Zip/eBay bidders due within 1 week of sale via Visa/MC/Disc/Amex. 18% Buyer's premium will be added on all purchases paid with a credit card with a 3% discount for buyers who pick up at the Sellersville Auction facility and pay with cash or check.
  20. 18% Buyers premium unless you onsite and or picked up and paid cash
  21. I do have money in my savings account Do you bank a certain percentage of your sales or do you take all the money from the stuff you sell and use it to buy more stuff? I save about 10-20% depending on how much I bought and sold it for Do you actually make 20% on most sales you make... And follow up after the 10-20% goes into savings. How much goes to the Gabe collection? Finally how often can you put 20% into savings and x into Gabe do you actually still have any extra 'profit' left over to buy anything extra?
