  1. Show your math for this please. Just because you can press a book doesn't mean its worth while. Show all costs you will have to pay. OK ASM 129 CGC 8.0 Paid $956 Expected grade 8.5 Last sale $1200 90 day average $1075 Costs of cpr Shipping $30 Pressing $15 Grading $75 Total 956+30+15+75 = 1076 which is 1 dollar over the 90 gpa average of a 8.5 Expected value 1200 Now I would take the expected value and take it away from how much everything cost me 1200-1075 = $125 profit Does the cost of grading above (75$) include return shipping to Canada? Selling for 1200 =/= (does not equal 1200 in your PayPal, but rather 1153.20 at 3.9% fee). Gabe your presser may tell you he can get you a bump but what happens if it stays an 8.0? What happens if drops are you financially safe to lose another 150 for an 8.0 or like 350 if it drops to a 7.5? I would have to check again as I believe he would cover the difference should that happen. The 75 would cover shipping and the return cost to Canada. Would I be able to handle the financial loss? I would but I wouldn't like it. No reputable presser will guarantee a CGC grade. That would be incredibly stupid of anyone to do. Since you keep talking about how you think the book would get an 8.5 after a press, are you an accurate grader? Can you identify an 8.0 from an 8.5? Most people who have been selling books for years can't. If you can't identify an 8.0 from an 8.5 then how do you know that your 8.0 wasn't an overgraded 7.5? Do not press the book. Do not re-sub it. Sell it as is and if you have to take a $50 loss than take the loss. A responsible professional admits a mistake and moves on from it. That means selling the book and taking the hit. A seller with no clue will hold the book for months or crack and re-sub it based on hopes rather than logic. C'mon, he can't tell the difference between and 8.5 and an 8.0 when it's clearly indicated on the CGC label. Now that's just funny!

I would but I wouldn't like it. CGC's base rate for return shipping to Canada is via FedEx international @ $60 USD. You can't grade this book for $15. What grading tier are you planning to submit this book under? Economy? I don't think that will fly with CGC but you can try...mean it has to go standard which is $53 with a 20% dealer discount (do you get the 20% discount?). Leaving you with $22 for return shipping...Not sure that's possible.

  4. Hopefully selling the book on Facebook for 1050 will save you...
  5. They sold the same book yesterday for the same price.

  7. We put blankets and then depending on the setup (learned from a Greenham pro) to place the chairs as a blockade to enter the booth (or on top of the box lids as mentioned above)
  8. That would be a good thing, but what if it comes back a 7.5? You know as well as anyone else who flips that you need to have that margin for error built into your business model. As fun as it would be Hector let's be real with Gabe. Back to basics Gabe with dollar books . Have you ever done a comic sale at your house (yard sale)? Have you ever listed them on Kijiji what sets and issues you have? Have you thought about a Facebook page where you can post the lots etc? Have you thought about setting up at a toy/comic show where a table only costs $50? You really need to stop looking for the grand slam and making 300$ and work at landing a single.
  9. The best I see the asm 129 getting is a 8.5 and I didn't expect him to overpay since he's in the business to make money. I don't want any more 1 dollar comics I don't even know what to do with the ones I have. Why have a small profit on a dollar book when you can have a large loss on an expensive book! #winning Because I won't have a loss on the comic even though you don't see it that way. How will you not have a loss on this book? The 8.0 won't sell for 1050 (what you need to sell it at to not have a loss). Don't say time payments because no one will pay 20% overmarket when places offer time payments on GPA priced books. Don't say cpr cause you don't know it will go up... You hope but it's not a sure thing. Most if not all books Walt (ICE) sends down are pressed already.
  10. I only overpaid 30 dollars for it currently but with the graders notes I'd be able to get a 8.5 max that means that my margin will be razor thin but I'd be able to do it. You've overpaid by 90$ based on 90 day gpa. Your the same guy that sets up at a con and says I did 5,000 this weekend and booth fees were only $2500 I made 2500 but you don't account for everything like product cost, transportation, food, parking, time.
  11. Keith doesn't want the book he already has an 8.0 not to mention he isnt going to pay 20% over market. If he really wanted it that badly I would have sourced him one. Heck I have an 8.5 I'll be bringing into his shop in 2 weeks time Is it wrong to say I'm going to laugh when you cpr the book and it doesn't get a grade bump... You don't have the knowledge or the funds to gamble on a grade bump. Many have said cgc us tight atm coupled that with if it doesn't go up a full point (9.0 you are still losing!!!) If you want to sell comics and make money I have some short boxes filled with $1 books I would gladly sell for $0.33c a unit and heck I would even drive them over just to free some space.
  12. Yes please crack press and resub the book look at all the numbers. Shipping to get the book pressed - $30 (unless you don't want signature on it) Pressing fees - $20 Reslabbing Fee - $65 Return Shipping - $60 (Fed Ex 2 Day international) Total - $175 USD Total investment - $956 + $175 = $1131
  13. Lets go back to looking at the numbers. I guess when you have to pay taxes (13%) on a book priced slightly under GPA at $825 vs $863 it doesn't help when you plan to flip the book for 37% higher than the all time GPA high.
  14. Most don't post the address as Google will then show it and spam mail shall follow. No real harm in pm the seller saying hey what's your pp I'll fire over funds...i can't think of many that don't want to be paid right away. (some sellers may put in thread invoices sent after thread closes though). Communication is key here many problems would be resolved if people talked. Congrats on picking something up.
  15. Gabe have you ever looked at the numbers...and I mean all of the numbers. You have a distinct disadvantage against many sellers for 2 reasons. Currency changes - You bought the ASM at a dollar rate of 1.313 or 1255.23 CDN (+ likely a few more points for the exchange if/when you convert it back to CDN...So it likely cost you around $1280 CDN. That means for you to break even if you sold the book today you must sell it for already almost 4% higher than you paid, + the 3.9% paypal fee + shipping just as a ballpark figure in order for you to make anything you must sell the book for $1063. Now you have to add a few bucks for packing, gas and time. So do you think you can sell the book for $1100 and be content making $30 after all the time you've invested??? Of course its possible to sell it for $1100 but that ISN"T the point I'm making. Canadian seller = higher shipping, less eyes/buyers as they don't want to buy from an international seller if possible.
  16. Do you honestly expect big b or freakshow to pay basically gpa high for the book that they plan to sell and make money on?
  17. I have some that were received 6/6 and in the same boat as you.
  18. I bought it pressed it and it just got the grade 8.5
  19. Now imagine if Warner Bros. was able to pull off a miracle, and break down the barrier with China? It's a pipe dream, as I have read some articles where they do not like the Enchantress character due to magic concerns. So it would go counter to their cultural teachings. But maybe - maybe - it comes true. If that were really the case, then Doctor Strange would be banned in China also. Dr Strange doesn't have a release date for China: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1211837/releaseinfo
  20. I know right where that gym is...at 183 and Mopac...I'm going to come claim it!!! Leave a magikarp when you do send a message!
