  1. Mrs. A is suddenly a hot commodity!
  2. The plot thickens! Does this increase demand for Mrs A? This is a fun thread!
  3. This does give me pause for buying something like this. I am pretty sure that nobody had a thought that they might get Mrs. A as the sketch in their book and might keep them from rolling the dice again on such a book. That said, I am sure Bob Layton did the drawing thinking that some diehard fan might love it. Problem is, the odds of this making its way into that person's hands are slim and none.
  4. Add a 3rd figure and get it inked is the way I would go as well.
  5. I was a huge (still am) fan of this era so I immediately knew that this was Mrs. A but even I would have been disappointed to get this as my sketch. I agree with more bells and whistles with this one - even Tony leaning over her shoulder would have been better. How many of these were done with a sketch? Now I am curious to see how many people will get one of these head-scratcher sketches.
  6. I read Year One DK, KJ, etc. back when they came out. I also read a lot of Hush as I was grabbing the title off the rack sporadically for the artwork but the story didn't capture me enough to get them all. I love Sale's art and hear tons about Long Halloween being good so I will grab that trade. Thanks
  7. I don't find the Murphy visuals good enough to pick up the stories on the merits of the art alone. I also don't like the way he is trying to tout himself in the history of Batman art. These alone will keep me from picking up his stories ... unless I hear the writing is at the very highest level I don't see this making it into the stack at the LCS
  8. I read the first 2 TPB for the Court stories. Not a big Bsts fan, I did pick them up based on all the hype I was hearing. I have not picked up anything since and don't feel inclined after hearing the take(s) from Chris and Gene. Question: if I were to pick up another Batman arc, what would be the most suggested after Court? Sounds like the Halloween arc?
  9. Every time I think about framing, a nice piece of art at the same price point as the frame job presents itself. Art always wins.
  10. Agreed but be warned, the IP folks can be a bit over the top in their passion and zest for protecting creator Law. Wearing the Judge Dredd helmets and the giant "No one is above creator law" signs were a bit much last year.

  12. Saturday. 6:00 for viewing the art. Bidding starts at 8:00
  13. Good information here. Kyle’s bullish approach to framing is good advice – maybe we should Alex-Johnson-ize this for future reproduction. I think it might help to provide an approximate price range for all of the options being thrown out. Links as well if ya got ‘em.
  14. I have bought from HA a few times in the past. As a buyer, I don’t have a problem with the fees as I find them easy to understand and navigate. As long as you are bidding at the number which includes the BP there are no surprises. The website, bidding platform, communication, packaging, shipping, and all other logistics of the sale were very good. Heck, even the preview mags that they send are a good read. All that said, I have a very real problem hitting the bid button due to the light shined on how HA employees can view and bid up ongoing auctions after the whole shilling thread a while back. The one purchase I made was only on the live segment of the auction (I passed on several auctions that I could not participate in the live auction segment). I also see the point about the fees on both end and see them as excessive. Since I don’t sell, this is not a big factor for me but I do get the complaint. Maybe this is why ComicLink has made such inroads to the comic art market online bidding market. I think they’d do even better if they enhanced their platform (why in the world don’t they share previous auction results?).
  15. He is keeping, at least that is my understanding
  16. Nice, might be time to pull a few off the stack and send to CGC
  17. Very true. There are multiples that will pay off I think. NM98 as an example
  18. Yes, a few times but it has been a while since I have gone. Once I discovered Heroes I never felt the need to go back to Chicago or NY
  19. There are always vendors, but not always a lot. This doesn't even bother me as most of what the vendors have can be bought online. Anthony is probably the most frequent at Heroes and digging through his portfolio stacks at a show is not that fun, especially when I can just do a search online very easily. The art that I look forward to is from the artists and reps that come out - I always find something to bring home.
  20. Heroes is #1 for me in terms of art. I have not been to SDCC so I cannot compare but I have been to Chicago, NYCC, Baltimore, Detroit, and it is my favorite (not to say the others are not good shows). The vibe at Heroes is so good and why I keep going back. Laid back and not chaotic like a lot of shows. Tons of artists and I have heard from several that they enjoy the atmosphere and don't feel as rushed, etc. Heroes is on the short list of best cons for comic art IMHO.
  21. Interesting. The question that immediately came to mind when reading this was "does he require payment before or after the art is completed?" ... not sure how I would feel if I paid for a happy Hulk unbeknownst
