I've got a decent run of the OG giant sized issues...always loved these!
-
I've been watching the January MCS Prime auction and a CGC 6.0 copy of War Adventures (1952) 12 sold for $530 with 35 bids. Can anyone shine some light into the (seemingly) high hammer price? I have a number of 1952 books in somilar condition and am just wondering if now is finally the time to start moving them. https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=57919608

Funny in that it seems like most people are fans of the franchise because of the mix of humor and horror in the 2nd and 3rd films. I LOVED the original film since I first saw it when I was around 10 i guess(?), and I know the movie verbatim. I went to see the second film in the theatre and I remember not really liking it as I wasn't a fan of the mix. If the humor will e oned down and focused on the horror and gore, I'll be pleased a bit at least ;)

What Was the First Appearance of Spider-Man's Black Costume?
davidpg replied to somewhereintexas's topic in Comics General
Having not read a new book since the 2010s, has it ever been explained/retconned how the symbiote popped out of that machine in SW8? -
I gotta say, I don't at all get all the love for Doom overall. I never found him a really compelling villan.

Official Canadian Newsstand Cover Price V****** Thread
davidpg replied to davidpg's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Among my first 4 comic book purchases of 2023. Found in the wild of ourse as I'm in Canukistan. Gotta admit I've never seen either cover before...and by that point Warlord wasn't reallt a big seller. -
I PRAY this will not disappoint

They might have to rename the Fantastic Four movie to Cuatro Fantásticos for real!

WB's BARBIE THE MOVIE starring Margot Robbie (2023)
davidpg replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
WTF. Is Robbie's only range of acting is winking or not winking? -
MArvel could literally drop 80% of the rest of this phase and while they'd lose some money, nobody would really care.
-
Well the key to success of phase 4 was all the shows and movies....that's not something that worked out. I'm a huge MCU fan, and I have very little hope for the upcoming phase. As well, I disagree with what you've pointed out regarding the FF...made under the style of the first phase of all MCU films, they could make it work very well. Dunno where they'll be at that point though.

DC Universe live movies, TV, animation, gaming roadmap
davidpg replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
I like Cavill in general, though he really didn't do anything for me at all as Superman. He wasn't bad...just didn't stand out for me like he has for so many others. The fact that I LOVE Affleck as Batman (my favorite, by far) shows that I might just be a contrarian ;). Affleck doing a real Dark Knight Returns adaptation would finally be incredible.- 285 replies

I've told the story here a few times...at the 2008 Montreal Comic Con I ended up at the organizer's supper with the guests and bigger dealers (including Harley and Herb Trimpe) as well as Art. I actually ended up stiiting beside him, and we started talking about all sorts of stuff that wasn't comics and we had a great time. He's also an accomplished musician, got a lot of good stories too. We may or may not have ended up at one or two of Montreal's stellar late night establishments ;). The next day he was happy to sign a number of items for me at the show. All to say, maybe I got him on a good day. Maybe he's sometimes tired of talking comics.

That's the fun part about this hobby...figuring out this kind of stuff. As well, if one is willing to do some bin diving, a lot of these scarce/low value books can be found. I pulled a low grade though complete Fat and Slat Jokebook from a bit at a local con for like $20. That was one of the last books Ian was looking for to complete his DC collection. You just never know ;)

Any particular reason you figure besides it just not coming up for sale? I got a big batch of early 50s books and only had Redskin 11 in the batch, and it's more beat up than the rest by far. Were they particularly good stories?

I'd love to see a good expanded W.E.3 universe...still on e of my favorite books evah!

Yeah, I'll actually go to the theatre to see this...and I'm VERY picky about who I give my money to these days.

CW's STARGIRL series starring Brec Bassinger (2022)
davidpg replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Will finally see her back as Stargirl. Was a bit annoying that she left her superhero persona behind for the vact majority of this season.- 185 replies

Not that I needed help, though showing off my X-Men 1 lubricated a first interaction with a ladyfriend a couple of years ago...... -
As well, I don't think I read anyone mentioning the Blackhawk logos in the JSA's plane...

Oh, that totally sucks. Easily one of my favorite writers overall, in any medium.
