What's the first Dr. Sivana cover?
Illustrious replied to Illustrious's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Interesting, so she beat her dad to a cover by 15 issues. Maybe because "damsel in distress" covers were better sellers? -
I've looked over at coverbrowser.com at both Whiz Comics and Captain Marvel Adventures covers, and it appears to me the first Dr. Sivana cover was Whiz Comics #20. Is this correct, or am I missing any previous issue or one-shots that preceded Whiz #20?

I contemplated going after the whole run back in 2012 when I got my first copy, but I focused on other things and then the price run-up happened a few years ago that pushed the prices up of 2-6 to the point where I felt like the higher amount of money that I would have to spend on those now would be better put into other keys that were in the same price range.

Glad to be back in this club with the copy below, this issue is my favorite Atom Age book of all time. I've bought and sold 4 previous copies in various grades during the past 6 years, and I've regretted it each and every time after I sold them. Hopefully this time I can hold tight to this one, I love how the Stranger lives in a world directly between DC superhero comics and the horror ones. And what other character has a Rob Zombie song named after them?

Thanks! I usually stick to Copper Age comics and up, but I always have loved the cover to PS #1 so I had to get back in the club after having bought and sold 4 previous copies of it over the past 6 years. I normally don't go after preview books either, but since it has the art from Avenging Spider-Man #9 on the front cover, I made an exception.

AF #15 all day, everyday

Anyone else here a fan of this book? I personally think it has a lot going for it and I really love the cover. It has elements of the classic cover art from both Detective Comics #38 and Detective Comics #168, not to mention reprintings of the legendary origin stories that were featured in those respective comics (Robin and The Red Hood). Since both of those books are also pretty much out of my financial reach at the moment, I think of Bats #213 as kind of a "consolation prize". Also, as a graphic designer by trade, I find the combination of Blue, Black, White, and Red in the masthead/logo to be very aesthetically and visually pleasing.

Comics that might become valuable if character ever reintroduced
Illustrious replied to kav's topic in Comics General
A Dr. Thirteen show is already in the works on the CW Network, but it seems the news flew under the radar of most people: https://variety.com/2017/tv/news/traci-thirteen-dr-thirteen-dc-comics-cw-elizabeth-banks-1202594676/ -
It's solid black, but I think that just adds to the "retro" look of the whole figure, back before they were super-detailed and articulated like figures are today. The retro TV commercial Walmart is playing now just adds to that vintage vibe:

Incredible Hulk #181 - is it *that* red-hot?
Illustrious replied to Getoutandstayout's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
Another coverless copy selling for a decent price: https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Incredible-Hulk-181-Coverless-Comic-1st-Full-Wolverine-Marvel-Value-Stamp-/302987215333?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137 -
I saw it today with my wife expecting it to be terrible, but I actually liked it. Tom Hardy was perfect in the role IMO. The story/plot was just ok, but not on the Catwoman/F4 level I feared. I give it a B-. Hopefully the sequel will be much better now that the origin is out the way and the movie can start with Venom fully realized.
