  1. Wow, that good huh? I was already chomping at the bit to crack it and read it, now I'm even closer to doing it. I could just get the Gemstone reprint of the issue for a reading copy to satisfy the urge, but it's just not the same without that vintage comic smell.
  2. As mentioned earlier in this thread, Coulson makes his first 616 Universe appearance in Battle Scars #1 as "Cheese", so no, #6 isn't his first appearance, although the CGC label for #6 says something to the effect of "Cheese revealed to be Phil Coulson."
  3. It hasn't happened yet, so I've been lucky so far.
  4. I would have thought this club would have more members by now, considering Coulson been the star of a TV show running over 5 seasons and 100 episodes at this point. Maybe he'll get another boost from the Captain Marvel movie next year.
  5. I've had the same thing happen, I purchased a copper-age 9.8 newsstand that was shown in the auction photos, and I got a direct edition instead. Luckily, the seller did have the original newsstand copy pictured and I sent back the direct edition and exchanged them with no problems. Now I message a seller directly and confirm it before I buy if they don't mention the UPC code at all in the item description/title.
  6. Based on GPA, looks like the now at the height of the movie fervor, copies are maxing out around $600, which is pretty much what I would expect since you can still get #98 9.8's can be had for $700.
  7. Looks like the second movie hasn't really impacted 9.8 pricing, I'm still seeing them sell in the $700-$900 range.
  8. Newsstands all day, every day
  9. Yup, and I'm still grateful for it. I was very fortunate to be able put together a complete copy for under $2000, a lot has changed since 2013-14 price-wise and I'd never be able to do that now.
  10. I'm pretty shocked a coverless copy just sold for $4,500...somebody must have really wanted the centerfold: http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Dcaptain%2Bamerica%2Bcomics%2B3%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item_1247292&id=1247292&itemType=0
  11. I've bought and sold about 7 copies of this book over the past 5 years, the highest being a CGC 9.6. This is my only current copy:
  12. If I had to make direct Action-to-Cap analogies, it would be like this: Action #1 - Cap #1 Action #7 - Cap #3 Action #10 - Cap #74 Action #13 - Cap #2 Action #19 - Cap #27
  13. I too have always thought the same thing as well, the face proportions are all off.
  14. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, with Cap #1 moving further and further out of reach for normal collectors, Cap #3 will keep inching up as the second most valuable/desirable Cap book. BTW Ben, nice sig line photo.
  15. Pretty strong finish on a poor/incomplete copy on eBay this morning....I had this pegged at $4,000 max but somebody really wanted it! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Captain-America-3-May-1941-Stan-Lee-/273131897043?hash=item3f97ee00d3%3Ag%3Aq0AAAOSwWqpau6kz&nma=true&si=KJzSvsPDOXSU0SxFJ76oHYATUlo%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  16. Here it is...when Stan signed it a few years back beside Jack's signature, he ripped the page a little bit with the pen tip, which is why he signed it again at the top of the page:
  17. Without a doubt my number one, signed on the splash page by Stan and Jack:
  18. I went on a little bit of a Copper spree the past two weeks...
  19. ASM #361 still seems to be going for some crazy prices in some sales, would the announcement of an A-list or B-list actor portraying the character in the Venom movie push #361 even higher, or we already at the ceiling as far as sale prices?
