  1. 1% would be 180 books, I bet he he kept some really good stuff ...he knows what is great
  2. If the book was a clean blue label it would bring a record price..I would say at least one mil......look for a 25% discount on the CGC APPROVED RESTORATION....this really should be a purple label book...and you are a SUCKER if you look at the label because we are hair splitting and pressing is just down the hall from us....CGC loses credibility when it does this..and it BLURRS the blue with purple...one solution, like the other guy does...ONE COLOR LABEL .....and like it or not that is what is really happening here over time.....a big blue sucker book...for somebody that does not understand , does not read the fine print, or is stupid enough to believe a color label with his own eyes. let me be clear about this, if collectors are going to pay X's of guide or GPA or whatever for a blue label book, then get value not semantics......unrestored should mean just that....
  3. this should be done over a one year period is my guess, but I think the very high profile stuff is going to go first in the upcoming auctions
  4. agreed, and not a good time to put up serious material on the action block for a while as the pool of comic book collectors money is gonna wear thin
  5. according to a CC post card the auction will be over 300 pieces.....looks like all or almost all
  6. just got post card from Metropolis and CC...it states " over 300 pieces of original comic art and thousands of vintage comics starting May 22 and ending June 12-16" Thousands of comics...coming pictured are Action 1, Cap 1, Tec 27, Fantastic 1 and 5, along with a wonderwold comics 1 ...as well as planet cover 1
  7. The cost of "entertainment" has switched to investment amounts of capital.. that is my point here.in this rising comic book market, especially with the dramatic rise of comic book art prices, as well as Ga,Sa comic books legitimate investment funds are coming into the market. Now you have to ask yourself is it from collectors like me, you and other board members or is the "GREED" factor in pay. When you buy batman #1 at 3.5 for $140,000.00 plus, that is the cost of a home, when you buy terrific in 5.0 with a piece of the back cover out for almost 6K.....you need to ask yourself..hobby or investment..to some people 6K is six months rent or $140K is six years work...... I am not afraid of board members like gator, david, jumbo they are here for the long run.....but we, us board members are not the main culprits in dramatic unsustainable price rises year after year. The CGC stated it all really when it advertised that the Hulk 181 was worth like 10 times more in a plastic holder, those adds appeared in a important comic book publication called the "comic book buyers guide" as well as the price guide...that is what started the " comic book gold rush" of finding books buying them for guide and slabbing them and making $$$$$$ and it has gone on for some time now, 3x or 5x guide prices and then the guide adjusts and then its 3x and 5x that price, folks this is madness. This insanity is gonna stop and if you are the one that paid 3x or 5x some type of market price of the difference of 9.6 vs 9.4 which I cannot tell the difference you are gonna be left holding the bad. Let me put it this way, 3 million widgets are out there, you cannot read the book, feel the book all you can do is "caretake" and what are you waiting for....I would venture 90% of the big buyers out there today buy and hold for one thing...it gonna be worth more......
  8. I would to address your points one by one 1- Yea, JB is selling his books because he loves us......you don't have be a prophet to "follow the money" that is the rule...when making a conclusion following his actions, if he was such a hero he would donate his collection to the George Lucas Museum...NOW, that would be impressive and be given top status in this hobby. 2-I never said comic book collecting is going to end, hero's are becoming more popular around the world be evidenced of Saudi 1st comic book convention...what I am saying is NO Market can sustain continued upward price growth forever, factored in by the demise of the physical media reducing the number of serious collectors competing for the same comic book. 3-Inflaction is real, the effects inflation are to destabilize the economy and cause you economic damage, I will give you an example..here in san diego they raised the prices of a "poke bowl" by 1 dollar on Jan 2...I asked why, its minimum wage hikes, here the next 5 years or so...now inflation is the hidden destroyer of the value of YOUR MONEY..especially at 1/2 % a year the bank pays...you can buffer with real estate because you can increase the rent as time goes on etc to ward off monetary erosion of value. Comic books do generate income, they sit there like gold, silver, diamonds and cost you money to store at the bank. Comic books are not necessary the best asset to own in a economic downturn, even if real estate goes down, the income will be still be there which will help you last to the cycle that economy has become, since the 1930's depression hit this county hard. 4-Was it always about the money you ask...in my opinion not before 1970.....the Overstreet price guide really told hold in 1972 and price increases were "slowly" built up in the hobby..essentially organized the comic book market was created and everybody who was somebody...got a copy of the price guide...money has always been in the equation since that time, now my motivations in buying and selling for a profit back then was to "make my collection better" very few serious collectors were in the Business..there was no CC, no Ha.com billion dollar companies back then in the market...but as prices built up more and more dealers were born as opposed to simple corner book stores." Cashing in" everybody always looks at the exit..you can buy an overpriced book but today you GPA and Ha results ,etc Back in 1972 you just as today always consider the "exit" before you buy or look to the future to avoid a substantial loss of cost of buying it, now we did not have plastic containers widgets , so some there were some collectors who bought the book to READ IT...I know in a CGC world you cannot do that...back in 1972 you could and did. 5- You can buy whatever you want, but as JB did..timing is everything, and we are now nearing the top of the comic book market in terms of affordability as well as number of collectors, that is real collectors who are here to stay. CGC has created new generation of "investor's whether it was the impossible collection owner who owns two action 1 at 9.0 or people looking to make a profit in a short term hold situation...the world is a different place...here is my point..if it was 1972 and you were buying comics YOUR MONEY WAS SAFE...real collectors controlled the market...that is not the same today with price inflation at 3x guide, and the big books whose price is out of the real collectors reach....this investment element can turn on us at any time.....just like silver at 50 bucks an a pop back with "hunt bros". Folks, these people don't care, comic books and comic art are widgets to sold and speculated on..and they could give a "rat's assss" about our comic book world tomorrow and never look back when the $$$ are not there for them to make a profit. Now when the rats leave the sinking ship...where is that gonna leave us..with the real hard core collectors who give a dammmm but do not necessarily have the funds to pay Imvestment prices for comic books and art. Today, one must be safe, sane, and look to the future on any purchases in this "investment" age of comic book collecting, and like JB realize that every commodity market has a top and bottom...clearly we are near top.
  9. JON HAS ALWAYS BEEN AHEAD OF THE CURVE He knows when to buy and he knows when to sell. Timing is everything...he sees all time record prices especially in comic art as witnessed by the Ha signature auction when sold 2 mill in comics and 4 mil plus in art..he sees what I see, coming...inflation ...followed by economic downturn.....so what do you do best...get debt free, sell what is not necessary and convert to hard assets to avoid devaluation.. then hang on for the ride ... then we thru the cycle again....this guy knows what is coming...

  18. My review is as follows Superman is alive, superman dies....superman is really alive
  19. Oh alright then. Your review is a dog. my review was spot on at the time....the biggest waste of 275 million and its closer to 295 Million and its probably more thats what they admitted to...you have become " NUMB TO DUMB'...accepting total pretty special effects pile of DUNG for what a real movie, with heart is. I venture to say that I or even you could have done a much better job with the -script, acting etc ..now we don't have carmine infantino's original superman here which Puzo stole the credit for and it should of be shared....that is the movie which really jump started it all.. Please stop being numb to dumb dung that the masses have come to accept ..Donners superman and as you are aware...they took one movie and divided it into two to make more money...if combined superman one and two it would be the greatest superhero movie ever made up today also. lets take Doctor Strange...a super hero movie who took a chance.. with a real -script and actors at a little over half the price ,now that is what I am taking about......Sup V Bat...are you kidding me.....and the special added 30 minutes did not change anything in my book, it was however better Dung. Sir with all due respect please RASIE you standards... My standards are just fine thank you. But I humbly suggest that you raise you I.Q. "show me the money"....what is your review....

Sir with all due respect please RASIE you standards... Side note Carmine's wasDC publisher at the time, Puzo knows nothing about superman and so Carmin flies out and spends a week and wrote the story for Mario and taught mario , all the phantom zone stuff, origin etc..they totally screwed him out of the screen credit which would have cost the production company one million, Puzo also had his crew of other writers also. They fired him....his name SHOULD BE ON THAT MOVIE...
