  1. super, if you have owned the previous books what do you find to be the biggest surprise and how would you rank this....enjoy
  2. What a month...FF Ann #1....still today one of the greatest superhero books ever created, I mean the whole 72 pages were great...what a deal...best 25cents I ever spent.
  3. I received the ultimate insult this morning. Amazon canceled my order due to "lack of availability". They sat they are "sorry" for the inconvenience.......folks it is no wonder their stock has gone from a high point of over $170 a share in the last year to $98.....Cheap Graphic Novels here I come from now on!!!!!!!
  4. The you tube video is AMAZING...one of the greatest books ever published!
  5. It is very interesting that the quality of many issues varied. As a newstand buyer the Kirby cover would get me everytime, I would not look on the inside...that is just how we bought it...cover only for the young buyers, So I did purchase the Thor above on the newstand and was disappointed when I got home. It is hard to say when the tipping point came for Marvel over DC during that time and Doctor Solar created a collectors stir along with a few other titles. ACG was never in the running and either was Dell except for Space Man...that created a ripple also. I really like the approach of going month by month because I had forgotten about the mundane or average marvel material and just assumed it ALL was great out of the starting gate. If I was forced to pick one year for Marvel, it would be 1968...when the expansion came. FF Annual 1 was considered by collectors along with issue #1 to be the hardest ones to get or most valuable in 1963, and I recall getting that one and strange tales Annual. FF5 was a hot book also by 1963. Being there, and waiting each for to get my young mind blown by covers and stories which I could understand read and reread are great. My point is that the Kirby/Ditko marvels, even some of the monster books were very re readable ...that carried a lot of value in the early collector days as opposed to a one and out DC superboy...that was the game changer here...from boots on the ground. But as we have seen here..not all Marvels are created equally.
  6. CAP 1-10....great stuff!!! I would recommend the simon and kirby hardcover which includes that and the vision stories as a great starting point....EC come in second with the Weird Science/Fantasy material which is still unmatched to this day...
  7. Blue is back on my radar!!!!! been a while
  8. This is the danger that CGC has to deal with in which making the CGC slab more foolproof should be the goal. We have to agree that all buyers are not equal. What we do not want is for a 40 year collector who wants to start buying slabs be treated like this....it is bad for everyone....we need more acceptance from older collectors that slab collecting is safe. Raw of course this fraud could not have been accomplished. So if we want a heathy growing slab market....we need to create a posting with suggestions from everyone here as to how to improve product security. Here is one of mine...have a website reference special ID number and website IS ON THE FRONT OF the slab thats says " Verify with CGC prior to purchase" A sort of disclaimer...or warning....it would prove especially helpful in this instance..a newbie slab buyer. What is your suggestion?
  9. I was thinking maybe Stan wanted writing credit to get two paychecks. That he had no idea how this would blow up...one as editor and one as writer or plotter. The early credit was for bucks, later for the creation of the marvel universe in which Jack and Steve were #1/2 then Stan way back and he wanted some co-credit....just a thought. Jack early on probably wanted the money, then the credit....Steve on the other hand wanted credit more or earlier....interesting
  10. As a collector and dealer for over 50 years, I warned board members when I first came on these boards that this fraud would have a serious negative impact on the overall GA/SA comic book. This has been going on for over 50 years Eerie Magazine 1/ Ceb #1 This is just the tip of the iceberg. In coin collecting, this had been going on for many year on a small level....then the Chinese gold and silver coin scam hit which is very well known to coin collectors when they came in that market. This is a warning...the same I made when I first entered the boards....this armature bozo is not the real one we should be afraid of....it the offshore criminals or a very very sharp small group here who hits and runs on a small vary valuable run of reprints that will come back to bite us. CGC SHOULD ACT NOW, before any major damage is done to stay ahead of this eventuality. I agree, MORE pics, ID, etc.... In fact someone should start a wish list to the CGC and we will endorse and send it. If this company is worth 1 billion dollars, Then do what Apple does, they have the best engineers in planet protect its I Phone and Mac.....hire a couple of them away and go for it. CGC you are gonna have to step up for the long run and protect of both serious CGC slab collectors and the overall resale comic book market as well as yourself.
  11. Vanguard one, which I own, has it own issues, I think right now dollar for dollar the Taschen is a much better books especially for someone that does not have the other editions......
  12. I like the Fantastic Four vol....that is discounted if you check......the artwork blow up is fanstastic..!!!!
  13. interesting development , Amazon is admitting the book has been published, but apparently it is sold out and they are not getting any copies. It used to be on pre-order, it no longer is...I believe this could be a sellout and the only place to get it is Bud Plant or someone else. Did anyone ever get a copy of this book from Amazon?
  14. I think the market for Batman #1 has come very far over the years, its not just a reprint...with an expanded origin. It wlll be over 2 easy, but I think this copy, which looks great is gonna have two major bidders going to 2.5M which includes BP.
  15. Frazetta....hands down...200 years from now people will know his name, Kirby close second
  16. Since you are charting THE true history of the creation of the marvel universe, is anyone left alive from that period whom you can talk to or interview?...is there a wish list for those who are left, If so, it would be great to post up the interview in this thead? GO FOR IT!!!!
  17. Thor 3d wow, I was thinking maybe Sgt Fury...especially the eary issues, with Kirby might make a dent?
  18. $2.5 M if on major auction site...(CC/Ha) It just takes two bidders!
  19. One of the better reviews posted 3 days ago , if anyone can help post it thanks in advance ...I liked this one with clear video...I recommend you enlarge the window. "The Fantastic worlds of Frank Frazetta First Look" by organicpricedbooks.com...this guy has an great comic art book collection behind him...it almost 15 Mins...if you are on the fence....check this video out. In the meantime...Amazon still a no go....claiming "pre-order"......
  20. I think FF carried Marvel early on...but my guess is one year into Spiderman it took over.
