  1. Still on pre-order on amazon...it appears Tashen fills it orders first with limited edition numbers and either has Amazon hold on the release or ship them to them later.....a perk for going with them....any board member get one yet???
  2. Hulk #1 observations In 1961 a movie came out, I saw it twice as a kid called Voyage to the bottom of the sea".....It main actor and captain was Water Pidgeon.....I would bet Jack saw that very popular movie and framed General Ross after him. Page 3 panels 6 and 7 is what hooked me as as a kid, as well as the face of the gargoyle in page 23 panel 3. This is as cinematic as a comic book can ever get, cut wise on page 3...and image its impact in 1962......to a 7 year old......who collected comic books as his #1 passion ( and still is here today). A fantastic book and story/art in just 24 pages...it is material like that..which creates a impression for life...about certain images/ emotions and this book after I read it for the first. time..was put on my no trade list that first day!!!!!!
  3. According to Tashen website book is available today!!!!! I am waiting on Amazon...anyone get it??? Fantastic video unboxing on you tube!!!! can someone help me link this....check under" Artbook /unboxing preview / the fantastic worlds of frank frazetta poster is Spiridon...he indicated he got his copy early...posted 7 days ago....The looks FANTASTIC!!!!! PS-great print review of the book : Creativereview.co. UK -Tashen-frank frazetta/
  4. Not for me as a individual kid...no TZ impact at all, however movies did have an impact on everyone, 40LB's of trouble, Time Machine, tales of Terror, Magic Sword....we lived in Nor Cal and drive in were very popular. TV SF movies the thing etc
  5. I bought hulk #1 off the news stand....it created a buzz in the young collector community...especially the #1 issue...it felt different than anything that was on the stands at the time...again among collectors it was a 3-1 trade to get it..... Let take a sec to explain that while these books were being created and placed at the local drug store/news stand/grocery store...the wait and the excitement each week to see what was next was something that really cannot be duplicated ...when FF1 hit the stands..it seemed a bit different and did create a small buzz which built to to a scream when FF7 came out due to its stunning cover. But....Hulk #1 cover, one of the greatest SA cover in my opinion stated a big buzz from day 1....I am not too sure, but this could of been created a song called the "Monster Mash"...which had a big impact on the music radio at that time which was released in the same year 1962.. In 1961 the Aurora Monster model was a major hit also...It creates such a impression when I went to the spin rack and saw this and said WOW...it really stood out..60 plus years later and the book delivered in my opinion especially cover #3....all the issues were great and I can never understand why that was cancelled....One last thing...Hulk #1 was a sort of a blind buy...we did not have previews and Marvel's getting the books together with a monthly list was just great..
  6. It really was a call out to JK as it only had his stories, writing credit is absurd to anyone who has read this thread.I can remember reading TOS 28 30 times after I bought it on the news stand...fantastic book, I liked the short snap ending stories of Ditko...especially as a young reader...it clicked FYI. Keep up the great work in 2023 and thank you for 2022.
  7. WOW-Amazon has the book $20 off cover at $180 with free shipping!!!! anyone get one over holidays????
  8. I would look forward to your evaluation of that program...I know painful to watch...but maybe you can contact the producers to give them additional information....
  9. I would investigate how much it would cost and what repairs could be made to make the book better...if not then I agree with above
  10. I think Jack Kirby was a old school straight shooter.....but Stan did write as evidenced by the FF 13 page I witnessed him signing to the owner with HIS dialog written on the side in his writing...interesting...Upon reflection, I think they thought they are both right....LOL... I would bank money Kirby had 75% of the creative force edited Stan with more Jack early on.....what good is a bad edited movie...then again what could Stan really edit after Kirby gave him the whole thing. Challengers is to close, to similar and is compelling evidence that Jack did have creative input rather SL drafting this giant ---script etc etc.. Again with the new STAN LEE 2023 Disney Plus 100 year old special which was just teased...somebody should link that....I will not be surprised if they give him credit for creating Captain America ...LOL but my point is you should contact the creators of this special and ask that some of your great research be included to make this factually accurate....nobody really has put together like you have the clearest picture of what really happened in the who's did what to create the marvel universe. Can some one link that........to. be released in 2023!
  11. 486 oversized Tashen pages......this will be known as "the" book to get....any reviews posted online!!!!!

  13. It appears Taschen will release the collectors edition first late Dec, and then in January the regular edition....has anybody gotten the collectors edition yet!!!!
  14. Got it !!!! I had high expectations and it blew me away!!! Review Part #1- So far FF 1-10 read. I will go into a more issue by issue review when done but just a couple of thoughts... 1- Going back in time : The ADs make this feel like a real book. When I read the masterworks they were at their time the only hardcover things we had...they were great...the Omni's added the letter pages...but with ads it feels like the real deal. Especially the color and feel. The most accurate color reproduction ever made from the original comic book. Refreshing! 2-Size Matters: I have read FF1 and FF5 more than any other comic book in the the last. 60 years and I would. say 50 times easy and especially as a kid......I have never seen the "mole man" so scary and detailed...it changed the way I will read the book from now...certain FF panels are classic...like images in mind from 60 years ago....but this outstanding edition, the best ever created, changes the way and increases your appreciation of what you know was special and different when it came out. I find it impossible to go back to a masterworks edition seeing what can be done here in 2022. 3 Great things get even greater over time: -Even today, the run of FF1-10, the ideas.....the creative force was a real big bang for Marvel and the future of comic book art or as "marvel pop art" as marvel would later claim, mixed with great adventure hold up 62 years later. 4- RESPECT: I give a bow to the tremendous amount of respect that Tashen has given this early FF material...if you look at their other outstanding art books including the upcoming new DEFINITIVE Frank Frazetta book coming in Jan 6, 2023( which I have pre-ordered), they have given this edition every amount of detail and work that was given their previous releases 5- Super Value: In 2022 they say the dollar is decreasing in value. This is one exception...Best Bang for the buck for any comic art this year...maybe even in the last ten. The quality is second to none... more to come...... Let's get some more opinions out here!!!!
  15. Only a month by month...issue by issue careful analysis using the microscope you are using is telling the best possible recreation of what really happened. Again we are heading to a major development in the creation of "marvel identity " something that separated the men from the boys...the bold claim of the "worlds greatest comic magazine"...and they delivered it....merry Xmas one and all PS the work "magazine" was used to elevate it from the ordinary "comic book" which I noticed as a Kid
  16. Did you pick up a copy of the book....your thoughts?...do you know what exactly is next?
  17. based upon the evidence so far I think you have nailed it. The Stan Lee synopisis or outline could of come about in two ways...one the most likely is it is a recreation of events after FF became a super hit, not at the start of them,.If not he took Kirbys ideas and ran with them....creating a word for word rendition of Kirbys ideas and story so to speak but I think based upon what how they were working and stan's scripts I see a chicken and egg which came first approach. I agree Goodman does not care for anything other than the bottom line and still with the unique monster approach to the cover which was their biggest sales numbers they just might of snuck it in the lineup saying it was just another monster book with hero's that reoccur. Even on #2 the same formula. Issue 3 is where "the first appearance of "the worlds greatest magazine" appears...and that was a tremendous marking step....I cannot wait to see if can fiqure out how this came about and who was mainly responsible. When 3 came board and especially 4,5 and 6...that was the jell that made the book the worlds greatest comic magazine. Please keep up you great thead. As Kids who were collectors the words "adult" and " worlds greatest" really had a impact....by the way.
  18. My other collector friend bought the first one from Tashen, and opened it and read it, and then bought a second one on Amazon when the price dipped $60...he does think an unopened copy will bring a super premium when this book goes out print. He is keeping his second copy unopened. The price is just $147 on Amazon!!!!
