  1. The real issue is what will they hold back....based on the CAF....however I think there is more material that is just on the CAF....If I was selling I would give it my best shot on the first sale and keep the small redundant pieces for future auctions
  2. those 41 is just the tip of the iceberg...two day sale on one collection...its what is not on the CAF...I bet you much more stuff coming too
  3. thanks, 40 years in the making, what a collection, Barry Smith Conan pages, etc...wide variety ....no way anybody could assemble that type of quality collection starting today
  4. go to ha.com website, click on Illustration Art, then click on auction schedule...see the coming look at 8/13/ 2019-Crain collection, click that there 41 lots listed so far....
  5. August 13, 2019 and August 14,2019 Special Ha illustration auction, Dallas Texas
  6. As our generation is slowing phasing out. There are going to be a number of Original or Giant "Whale" collections coming to the market. This is just the beginning of the wave. These collections were amassed over many years thus the cost of them has been spread out over time. New whale collections can be created, it just very expensive and unless you have "oil" money like the "impossible" collection it is going to be extremely rare that a newly created collection will come market. Nobody has any idea about the great material out there still...which is very exciting to us who still collect. I start this topic with an incredible collection coming to market on August 13, and 14 of this year on Ha.com. As I posted on the OA section, but I know there are a number of "pulp" collectors who also collect GA this is the form where we should discuss up coming "Whale" collections. I believe there are two collections that are currently on the market that can qualify for that. I foreseen a number of GA collections coming to the market place in the next five years both to Ha and CC. 1-Glynn Crain illustration SF/Fantasty collection: Pulp collections this is your chance to get some the greatest material ever offered on that market, along with some 22 classic wally wood pieces. If you go to Comicartfans.com and select H. J. Ward and click on the Glynn Crain name...get ready to be amazed. I believe this collection was accumulated over many decades of serious collecting. This auction just is his collection, I have never seen that before, I have seen the Billy Wright collection go, but that was with the other auctions at the same time. Check it out and the H.J. Wards etc. This collection has taken over 40 years to put together. 2- The complete Centaur collection. , I don't recall ever seeing a complete collection auctioned at the same time. This is a collecting milestone and the books are just outstanding. Look for other "whale" collectors to request a seperate auction for their collection. Certainly all that hard work should be acknowledged. There was old advertising slogan...When E.F. Hutton speaks...then there is silence. The same with these collections.......get ready for a great ride this year and in the future.
  7. It is a two day HA.com sale on his material only.....looks like it. Plus if he holds back the best stuff, it will weaken the auction since his collection is online. Collectors will wait for the good stuff....
  8. One of the greatest SF art collections of all time is being auctioned by Ha. Com on 8-13/2019 and 8-14-2019. So far over 40 pieces have been listed in the coming soon section . To get a idea of the greatness of the collection go to CAF and look at his collection, check out those amazing H.J. Wards stunning...
  9. The auction was a success over $9,432,000.00 which might suck the air out of the upcoming auctions ,however I don't think anybody has the bidder base of over 7300 active bidders.
  10. It is great for a change, it will be interesting to see what the All Star bound set goes for, I remember seeing it on CC and I believe it was purchased by a other major dealer to see if the books could be separated, that is why in the CC description it did not have the cover and first 2 pages which were apart from the binding. My top list is 1-Carl Barks Student Witch which contains a barks duck character from a edited story. Here is you chance to get a duck related painting at a fraction of the cost. I remember seeing on the Geppi Barks video when the painting were all on display in his gallery, Carl commenting on this painting. It great and a masterpiece in my opinion and under 25K is is a pure steal. I think its at about 12K now. 2- Jetta 5-great book great future, amazing condition. 3-Superman 38 double cover 9.8...I don't know if you could find a better copy on the newsstand
  11. The Barks Student Witch and Christmas paintings have go up a bit, still an amazing buy....
  12. As I recall you have done this twice now...you could make it three times...Rick the collection looks great and CC catalog does it justice...you are not out of the game forever, just temporary and there are many collector hills left to climb for you. Just don't keep all your eggs in on basket on location, you should diversify locations and have a duplex etc in another state and rent one side out and always have a back up for the future, I hope part of the funds that come from this sale will enable you to do that. You also might consider trading up and selling a large amount to get a top graded top tier book...which can be put in a safety deposit box while you are at and have the ability to do it. Good luck, I am sure you will do fine on the sale.
  13. One of the best OA lots in my opinion is "student witch" painting by Carl Barks its still under 10K, I remember seeing on Geppi's Carl Barks video report of the display of the paintings at this gallery..Carl was standing in front of the painting saying how much he liked the painting. about 5 or 7 years ago I asked Geppi's people how much they wanted...nothing under 50K they would even consider....somebody is going to get a masterpiece here....
  14. more copies mean higher turnover and this market price is current thus a greater chance to grow in price..and content wise the book is much better than the others you listed.
  15. I can remember going to the book store in the very early 60's and picking them up.....amazing stuff
  16. It's just a matter of time....Cap 1 will top Bat 1 in terms of value and go into #5...20 years from now I would put the book at #3
  17. E-Bay over the years have had a variety of scams or sellers trying to get every last penny out of collectors, much safer to buy at the big auction houses or known dealers.
  18. very nice book with white pages..keep up the great videos
  19. limiting the show to a Sunday only event should be changed, even if you live in SoCal a two day show would greatly increase attendance as well as allow out of town or states to return at a decent hour on Sunday to go to work on Monday.
