  1. Feels like Christmas Eve just before going to bed, but on 12/16. Locked and loaded.
  2. That said, now I'm wondering whether the front cover is married.
  3. I thought the same, but my thinking is that the kid purchased it from a used book store in the mid- to late-40s. I don't think it was his OO copy which he Frankensteined. I'll believe that he saw that copy in a used book store, his eyes popped open with excitement, and he purchased it. That would have been, I think, a tough copy to find in any condition during that time period in the geographic area he lived.
  4. I would agree. I would add that last year at this time 12 months ago, the market (and I'm talking the Marvel market -- I don't think anyone is talking about anything else) had flattened. And then Wanda-Vision came out in mid-January 2021, and the crazy ride that was 2021 exploded out of the gate with big price gains starting in late January and running through about September of this year, and then leveling off (or in many cases partially correcting) in Q4. I'm not saying January 2022 we'll see the same thing, but what I am saying is that the Marvel market is very tuned in to the excitement/hype created by Marvel Studios and Disney+ content. Out of 3 Marvel Studios films in 2021 (Black Widow, Shang-Chi and Eternals) we've gotten only a little teaser (Blade, Starfox, Black Knight) of what Phase 5 and 6 will bring to the market. Loki told us a lot more of what Emperor Feige has in mind with the importance of Kang the Conqueror and the TVA. When Moon Knight and Secret Invasion airs later in 2022, and when the casting for Fantastic Four is announced (I believe later in 2022), that is going to generate a ton of excitement for the market, and Marvel books will be on another upward campaign.
  5. Here's my story: local U-Tote-Em and 7-Eleven spinner racks, both short bike ride from my home . These books on the racks in the Fall of '77 caught my 4th grade eye. Full-on addicted. The end.
  6. Friday is Disney+ Day, where several announcements are expected. While rumors that the market has already acted on will be confirmed, there should be some announcements on new content/characters in 2022 and into 2023.
  7. The latter, yes, its growth rate jump-started in 2021 as all the other Marvel SA keys were surging. As to the former, yes, in absolute dollars, Hulk 1 has not fallen into 3rd palce.
  8. Hulk 1 had been flat for several years, it has price-corrected in 2021 to keep pace with the other Marvel SA mega-keys.
  9. Still cheap. That is such an important book, and this is a pretty copy.
  10. I have a GA book with a green label 8.0 with 'centerfold detached'. It presents as an 8.0. I am guessing it would have gotten a 5.0 with a blue label.
  11. Are they asking for proof of vacc at the gate?
  12. I purchased a used copy of this book for $2.98 (that's what the pencil-marking on the interior fc notes) maybe around 1981/1982, likely at a New York convention or comic shop (no way to find something like this is South Florida in those days). It has 40 full-size high-quality cover repros of epic works like Tec 1, Tec 31, Whiz 22, Fantastic Comics 3, etc. I was a tween at the time, and these covers were just jaw-dropping to see in full color in those days.
  13. I asked her. She said that the late 70s/early 80s Hulk TV show with Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno was extremely popular in Brazil in syndication throughout the 80s, for both young and old. She said that Bixby's Banner was a very tragic figure and sympathetic to Brazilian audiences. It had the vibe of a telenovela, which are quite popular throughout Brazil. Please play the music below when reading my comment and watching the gif above to maintain mood and atmosphere. Thank you.
  14. FWIW, my significant other is Brazilian, and she tells me Hulk far and away is the most popular super-hero in Brazil. (It's her personal favorite, too.) I don't think it's a coincidence that the 2008 Marvel Studios Hulk film's opening scenes were filmed in Rio/Brazil.
