  1. A 2021 study concluded that Spidey was the world's most popular character, based on Google searches. And there is no close second. "Peter Parker’s web slinging alter ego Spider-Man claimed the top spot in 57 countries, including the United States, for a remarkable 48.7% of the share of search volume. To put it in perspective, the next two most Googled superhero names combined didn’t approach that amount. DC stalwarts, Wonder Woman and Batman, came in second and third place, respectively, with 15 countries, and 11 countries respectively. Marvel’s Iron Man and DC’s Superman rounded out the top five." https://insidethemagic.net/2021/04/worlds-most-popular-superhero-jm1/
  2. Thanks. There's usually a purported justification, meant to assuage any second-thoughts or regrets over the "removing" or "recycling" of books with content that are objectionable to some.
  3. "‘There must be something in books, things we can’t imagine, to make a woman stay in a burning house; there must be something there. You don’t stay for nothing.'” Somewhere the saving and putting away had to begin again and someone had to do the saving and keeping, one way or another, in books, in records, in people's heads, any way at all so long as it was safe, free from moths, silverfish, rust and dry-rot, and men with matches. Ray Bradbury, Farenheit 451.
  4. True, but by the last year, Page had pretty much taken over The Yardbirds and was telegraphing what was to come.
  5. Check out Bucky/The Winter Soldier, absolutely torching that soldier. Yikes.
  6. At $36K, this goes beyond that. The last reported CGC 9.0 went for $4K two years ago -- a 200% annual growth rate. I appreciate that ASM 11 is a very tough book in high grade, and that has a lot to do with this record-breaker for a second-appearance book. There are 18 9.0s on the census, with eight 9.2s, nine 9.4s, and seven 9.6s. Congrats to their owners.
  7. On the link below, please read the section titled, "Are CGC Cases Waterproof," there is some helpful commentary here that addresses aspects of your question. https://thecollectorsresource.com/blog/getting-to-know-your-cgc-comic-book-cases/
  8. Generally agree. I don't see a big difference between most .5s south of 8.0. However, I generally notice a material difference between an 8.0 and 8.5. To me, it's a big 'step up' in grade. E.g., more than 7.5 to 8.0, or 8.5 to 9.0.
  9. At 91% Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with 122 reviews in? If you mean that the film might be lackluster financially because C-19 is keeping a lot of people from going to back to the theaters, then, sure, that's possible.
  10. My collecting range is NGs (e.g., coverless, page) to 9.8s. I avoid 9.9s.
  11. Attendance was pretty good on Sunday, and I heard Saturday it was packed.
  12. Go to page 4, there are a couple of pix there. Dealers were Bob Storms, Dale, Graham Crackers, Greg White Comics, Torpedo, Colisseum, Harley, Reece, and about 10 other small/er dealers.
  13. Go to the Comic Events forum. It was weird not seeing a certain Gator with a can of Coke Zero by his side.
  14. The show was very well organized (tons of staff getting people in the right direction) and not as sardine-packed as usual. The dealer tables were very busy and plenty of buying going on, from what I was observing. I asked most of the dealers if the show was worth the trip and the answer was a unanimous 'yes.' I missed seeing my favorite UF alum at this show ...
