To me, it’s all about the “thrill of the hunt”. I expect to find comics in comic stores and cons. I don’t expect to at random antique stores or flea markets.
Not to mention, I look for a LOT of other things besides just comics. I’m often just as happy finding an old baseball photo, tin toy, early political pin or cool advertising sign.
I rarely post that stuff here because it is of probably very little if any interest to those on a comic book message board.
I don't know....I think most comic book fans appreciate other collectibles even if they don't personally collect it....or maybe I'm just old school in that respect.

To be fair, others are posting Garage Sale/Flea Market/Antique Mall Finds
as the title of this thread suggests.
Or are they??
Just looking back over just the last half dozen pages it seems the majority of posts of finds in this thread are from "used bookstores", "that guy", "lcs", "found these in a collection", "etsy", "connected with a guy", "local record shop", "picked up from owner", "was given these"....
Personally, I don't go to many Antique stores or Garage sales...I do however go to Auctions, Comic shows, and Comic stores. I like to share cool things I find and I like to look at cool things other people find. I don't really care where the stuff comes from...
All that being said I did go to a FLEA MARKET today and picked up some stuff!

Any pointers for us losers? Besides effort and persistence of course...
Well....effort and persistence would be a good start...have a good networking system....and pay more than everyone else
My finds are blah compared to guys like Earl Shaw....his purchases are legendary!!!

I don't know where you live, and I'm sure you put the time in, but dang...you seem to have more primo finds than anyone in this thread by a wide margin.
And I don't even come close to posting everything I buy...

No wonder I can't find X 266 anywhere
To be fair I left literally 20+ more at the dealer's table....and he still had a few at the end of the show...

Picked up a few things the last couple days from an auction, a lcs and a small show....
Highlights...
DC Archives pic was $95 at auction...happy with the price on that one...Star Wars were on the cheap...Digest lot was $55...Golden Age were pricey but I liked them so brought 'em home with me! The All-American Men of War is the first issue...pretty scarce...
And a bunch of other stuff came home with me as well....all-in-all, a couple nice comic book days...

What is the Captain Marvel Jr piece? Really, really cool.
100% agree on the Thor poster. Great artwork for something that could have been horrible.
Patrick
After a little research on Comics.org it looks like the Captain Marvel Jr is a Giveaway from 1944 and the Bulletman from 1942....don't know how common or scarce they are but these are the first ones I've seen....

One dealer selling to another - I have visions of 2 pigs fighting in a sack!
I'd imagine there was a bit of back and forth to say the least - nice books bought, and some interesting items to boot - great stuff!
I love this thread
Naw....he's a good buddy of mine....and he is very fair with his prices. He told me what he wanted....I pulled out the cash. Can't get any easier than that!

They were not $5 each but were were a great deal considering 9.0's are selling at $250-300. In retrospect I probably should have bought them all but I don't mind sharing the wealth!
