  1. I agree. Besides the dust shadow there are other defects which visually should keep it below that grade. If we cover up the flip, what grade would it get? 8.5-9.0??
  2. Does anyone know where I might find an Excel checklist for CDNP or crime comics in general??
  3. The Postman awakened me from my afternoon nap, but it was O.K., I knew what he was bringing. Consider me officially hooked!
  4. I had my eye on this book until it became the price of a small vehicle. Watched it all throughout the auction, it was actually at a very reasonable price up until the last few days. Restored or not that is one beautiful book. I don't know why Lou and I keep having our eye on the same books.
  5. I'm hoping my wife asks what I'm going to do with my rod later.............a-la..........
  6. I plan on reading these very carefully, then probably storing away for a trip to the headquarters.
  7. Ok. I couldn't help myself. Just ordered these. I like the Crime and Punishment covers, and they appear relatively undervalued compared to other crime runs. Had to get a Crime does not pay at the end as well. My first Crime books!!
  8. It's criminal to let this thread fall so far. One of my favorites to browse and enjoy. Currently thinking of joining the gang with some crime purchases. Would be interested to know what are some of everyone's favorite covers, favorite runs, and the grails of the crime book scene. I have been researching, and I really like the Authentic Police Cases covers and the Crime Does Not Pay run. Anxious to hear from the experienced outlaws here. Since I have included too many crime analogies for one post already I will shut-up and enjoy your knowledge on the matter.
  9. On December 5, 2020, a CGC 3.5 sold on Ebay for $234
  10. Beautiful books ! These gentlemen knew how to draw a woman's figure !
  11. Being a former sports card collector Overstreet like Beckett was most likely the only game in town as far as pricing. If it were anything like sports cards you would have great difficulty finding anyone to give you "book price" for what you had back then as opposed to selling over "book price" today. The internet changed this dramatically as people were able to find items that were once considered rare in the hobby quite easily and printed price guide books were in my opinion were rendered obsolete. The "price" has always been what someone is willing to pay.
  12. I bid on that one as well, but the one I was referencing was the Gaines File Copy of Crime Suspenstories 12.
  13. This got me to thinking, when is Flash Gordon's first appearance in Comic Books? I know he appeared in comic strips as early as 1934, but when was his first comic appearance? Was it Four Color 173??
  14. Go Collect's database confirms the sale at $625......... Date & Venue Sold For 02/20/2021 eBay $625.00
  15. Thanks ! I ended up just drafting a check from my bank online and sending to them.
  16. Ouch! I hate it when someone nips me in the Solomons. Great looking Books!
  17. I was watching the book in the CC auction. Stayed below $100 until the last few hours. I think I put in a small bid at one time just because I love the cover.
  18. Thanks Lou! Yeah, it wasn't cheap, at least by my standards. But, after missing out on one I really wanted the night before I promised myself I wouldn't let this one get away.
  19. Question about the scans I just posted. Do you think the shade on the Shock#9, VOH#27, and somewhat on Weird Fantasy #17 are due to CC over adjusting on the scanners? A lot of their books seem to have an orange tint in this auction.
