  1. I'm guessing this has been discussed on the boards before, but I just can't come to grips as to why Avengers 4 is considered Caps 1st SA appearance and not ST114. I realize Cap is disguised as Acrobat in ST114, but he's on the frickin cover, and ST114 pre-dates Avengers 4. So what gives??
  2. Word on the street is that CGC was formed sometime in the late 1930's early 40s between an exclusive partnership signed in blood by Hydra and the Order of St. Dumas.
  3. I said "I believe" they were owned by them. I also believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and one day Amazonian women will rule the earth.
  4. I agree. I think you would be hard pressed to find a 2.0 that presents much better than this one.
  5. I believe they are owned by an LLC called Certified Collectibles Group.
  6. Yeah, I think that's probably what brought it up to a 2, that and the white pages. I still think it is a very desirable book for the grade.
  7. Well, I must say you guys are about spot on with the CGC grade. I wasn't sure if the back of the book weighted as heavily into the grade as the front, but now I know. Thanks everyone for the education.
  8. Ok Thanks. To me I was thinking the front presented better than that. It also has White Pages, which to me is rare in a low graded book.
  9. How much does the piece missing from the back affect the overall grade?
  10. I'm cheating a bit here. The book has already been graded, and I am thinking about buying. Wanted to get everyone's opinion of the assigned grade. Make sure to check the back. Thanks in advance !!
  11. I used to do it quite frequently with sports cards, so I’m not totally new to the experience. I presumed it was most likely also done in the comic world as well. My experience with cards was quite good, usually received a bump after resubbing. With cards you could send in a competitors slab and ask for a grade, but I never did it that way. I always cracked out and submitted.
  12. Has anyone dealt with Millioncomics.com? They have a website and also sell on Instagram. They have a book I am interested in, and I wanted to get some feedback.
  13. I have a book I'm watching that looks like it could grade higher than the assigned grade. Has anyone ever re-submitted and received a higher grade? If so, did you leave it in the slab or crack it and send it in raw?
  14. If you decide not to go with USPS insurance you may want to try Ship Insurance. I always use them to ship e-bay packages, and from what I've heard they always pay if it is a legit claim quickly. Sign up with Pirate Ship and you can get Ship Insurance there and keep track of your packages.
  15. Thank you Gentlemen. Sorry for the oversight.
  16. I like for my books to all fit perfectly together. Looking for a certain book in the new slab, but can't find one, only in the older previous version. Will the newer slabs interlock well with the previous version slabs?
  17. The previous few posts have me wondering Why isn't their an Avengers 1 appreciation thread? Have I overlooked it? Tried the search function and still didn't see it.
  18. Most definitely get those insured and require signature confirmation. If you want extra assurance you can always send them Registered mail, which takes a bit longer, but I believe they have to be signed for at each stop along the way, and are placed in a secure location while there.
  19. Need to get my vintage ads framed and on the wall. I wish CGC would slab them. Lol.
  20. Ok. Took a quick walk through the house and snapped a few pics for ya....
  21. Great Thread! I used to collect Sports Cards,Ticket Stubs, and Star Wars figures, but lately have been in sell mode on all those trying to raise funds to buy comics. Since my wife and I moved into our new home about two years I have found myself collecting more and more things that go along with the decor of the home (it's a 100 years old this year). I have some old tins, old Ball/Mason jars, vintage advertising, soda memorabilia, and just about anything I think would look cool as decor. Even bought an old Crosley bakelite radio that is just beautiful.
  22. Ok. I appreciate all the suggestions. After a little research I am leaning Avengers 1 at the moment. I think I can probably get a higher grade copy than say a FF1 or X-men 1 which still seem to go for a little more $$ currently. I was really wanting a major key issue, and even though Avengers 1 isn't actually first appearance of the characters, it is the Avengers 1st appearance, and in my opinion (which doesn't mean much) a key issue.
