  1. You've been on fire lately, Paul. Lots of very sweet PFs and some of the tougher books too.
  2. It's pretty amazing how tough it is to find #86 in 9.4 or better. There are just 12 copies - 1 9.8, 4 9.6s, and 7 9.4s. For comparison purposes, DD #85 and 87 both have more than 60 copies in the census in 9.4 or better.
  3. Great books, Jason. It's raining sweet DD #1s around here.
  4. I doubt you'll ever regret going a little over your maximum. I've overpaid for many books over the years and it rarely, if ever, bothered me much. But there have been a number of times where I didn't open my checkbook enough to get a great book. And it's the ones I let get away that I have some regrets about.
  5. I'm logged in but it doesn't work for me either.
  6. #1 (it's Spider-Man #1) #3 (top 2 Spidey villain, good cover) #2 (great cover) #4 (memorable cover, tough book) #6 (good villain, decent cover) #9 (good cover, decent villain) #7 (solid cover) #5 (Doom & Spidey?) #8 (forgettable story and cover) #10 (lame cover)
  7. Just finished up another sale to Robert. As always, it was smooth and easy. Thanks for about the 678th time.
  8. Wes just unburdened me of a couple sweet slabs. It was a very pleasant experience.
  9. I'm very happy to break ground in Bill's kudos thread. It's beyond me why this thread isn't already overpopulated with folks singing his praises. I've sold books to Bill, bought books from Bill, and it's always a stellar, easy transaction. For example, Bill just bought 3 slabs from my latest sales thread and it couldn't have gone any better.
  10. Very nice book, Peter. And another cool 3D-ish Gil Kane cover.
  11. +1 Not out of whack when supply vs demand determines the market The first quote was taken out of context, by the way. The-Collector was referring to Overstreet Guide prices, not market prices. It'll make total sense if you go see the posts Jake was referring to.
  12. Chuck Rozanski was at least an early pioneer with the use of multiple guide pricing with the Church books. It actually seems kind of quaint now. But don't just take my word for it: comicbookpedigrees.com
  13. Wow, looks like there's almost 150 entry level copies (i.e. 0.5 or 1.0 graded) for AF 15 which seems like a surprisingly high number to me. Any idea how the market works for entry level SA books? Do these entry level SA books sell for insane prices relative to their bottom of guide prices, similar to how uber HG copies (or even 9.8 BA books) sell for insane prices relative to their top of guide prices? Especially since the price guide isn't really meant for books in higher than 9.2 condition, and apparently also not for books in lower than 2.0 condition. An incomplete answer to your question: AF #15 in 2.0 is listed at $5500 in the current OSPG. 12 month GPA average is $10,332. For 1.0, 12 month GPA is $6520. For .5, 12 month GPA is $5149. So it seems AF #15 in low grade does better than guide prices. Hulk #1 in 2.0 seems to do well too. FF #1 in 2.0 looks like it sells right around guide.
  14. I just checked the census minutes ago. No 9.6 SS https://www.cgccomics.com/census/grades_standard.asp?title=Amazing+Fantasy&publisher=Marvel+Comics&issue=15&year=1962&issuedate=8%2F62 I'm not sure why the CGCdata.com website is different than CGC's census. Maybe it's one of those hybrid label books - restored and signed?
  15. Hearing about the new 9.6 made me want to check out the latest census numbers. And I thought it would be an interesting a thread re-railment attempt. So here are some looks at the of AF #15 census from the last 5 years. Quite a bit of shuffling towards the top end. (With props to CGC Census Analysis.) In August 2011, there were 14 AF #15s in 9.0 or better. In August 2016, there are 19 AF #15s in 9.0 or better. Unless my math fails me, that's less than one new killer copy per year, at least books that made it to CGC. August 16, 2016 August 14, 2014 August 17, 2013 August 15, 2011
  16. I'd guess it's Tom Brulato's copy. He sold the Diamond Run AF #15 (now a 9.6) when he got another 9.4. And he he obviously thought the new copy was a nicer book.
  17. Hmmmm....which 9.4 is going to be on the auction block? The indomitable joeypost will be getting one of the 9.4s. Once I decide which book is the keeper, that is.
  18. I had heard of the Sarley Collection before, but I never knew the story behind it. Similar to the San Francisco/Reilly books in that the collector passed away far too young. I'm glad the book found a good home.
  19. Looks like Comic Book Heaven to me.
  20. Further evidence of my Picture Frame addiction. All were were purchased raw except the old label book. Though I'll be down to one copy soon.
