  1. Somebody or somebodies paid up for some Picture Frame X-Men in the current ComicLink Auction. I'd guess they're X-Men collectors, not necessarily Picture Frame guys. Either way, sweet books. big prices. X-Men #76 CGC 9.6 X-Men #79 CGC 9.6
  2. I suspect Severin's credit is mostly for inking. Red Wolf's left hand on the published version is still very Kane-esque. The additional guy in the center looks like Kane figure too. Not sure about the new guy on the right. I imagine the editor or whoever wanted to see more of Red Wolf since it was a first issue. And I guess that's understandable. But I think the finished product lost some of the dynamic qualities of the original pencils. I wish Tom Palmer or Klaus Janson had done the inks instead.
  3. I don't have any additional insights. But I'm curious why they chose to swap the Skull and Bucky. They were both looking at Cap in the original art. But as published, they're not. It works fine both ways and still a cool cover in either case.
  4. Three killer book there, Mitch. The corners on the #3 and #5 are scary sharp.
  5. It was cheap, $5. But I don't think it's a 9.4. It has about 4 hairline stress marks on the spine that are hard to see in the scan. As you and Bob well know, it's a beast to find a really sweet copy. But I keep trying...
  6. Further proof of Wes' (electricprune's) awesomeness. Also, the first and only slabbed copy of Rawhide Kid #105. It was a roll of the dice from eBay that turned out pretty well.
  7. I've been using VueScan with Yosemite ever since Yosemite was released. No problems at all. I have a Microtek scanner, but I think you'd still be fine with the HP.
  8. A couple books I bought off the stands in Chicago many moons ago. Then moved with me to NYC. Then to Los Angeles. Then I sent them to Florida to be encased in plastic and sent back to me in L.A. It's a strange addiction.
  9. A couple new arrivals thanks to Wes (electricprune) who went above and beyond to snag these for me.
  10. Just completed another sale to Lord Crassus. And as per usual, mere adjectives can't adequately describe his regal awesomeness. All hail Crassus, King of the North!
  11. I haven't been this happy about a Picture Frame addition in a very long time:
  12. I hadn't heard the books called that before I saw it here on the boards. I think the boards not only popularized the term, but also did a great job of determining the list of books. Folks like you, George, Nik, and awe4one were definitely early adopters in the PF niche.
  13. I think it's definitely more of an internet niche. But plenty of dealers like Metropolis, Dale, Bob Storms, Comiclink, etc. are well aware of the niche and often mention when a book is a Picture Frame on their websites. Though I don't think they'd make a special sign about it for a show. If they got a new group of the books, they'd probably just contact some of us PF fans and let us know about it.
  14. Here's a weird one. I have a slabbed 8.5 of Kid Colt #158 but I keep prospecting on eBay and crossing my fingers. But I've gotten the same result three times. All three of these books have popped staples. Maybe like Spidey #36 and FF #51, something was off when the books were printed way back when. Or maybe I just have bad comic karma with this book.
  15. I have a little hope that could be a 9.0 with some TLC. There's still not a single copy of this book in the census. It's kind of weird since the other PFs in this run aren't that scarce for Westerns.
  16. Just finished another smooth sale to Sergio. He's still awesome.
  17. Tripp bought a couple respectable sized stacks of books from my last bronze age sales thread and he's a very solid citizen and buyer. Thanks, Tripp!
  18. I understand the idea that there should be a reasonable amount of time for returns and refunds. I understand the idea that sellers could have already spent the money on a car or a house or whatever. But unless it's a Matchbox car or dollhouse, that's not the case here. And given that this thread is over 3000 pages long, PL worthiness is open to discussion and not always a bright-line rule. Rupp's request was more than reasonable. And the seller's response or lack of response was shameful. The seller in this case is absolutely deserving of being on the probation list.
